Help with S/L AE build

I'm dusting off my level 50 invul/ss tank so that I can run some S/L farms. I have a couple of questions that I hope I can get some help answering.

1) Can someone point me in the direction of the optimal build that I should have in order to run these farms? Not necessarily all of the enhancements I need because it's going to take some time to acquire the expensive stuff, but just the powers and the slotting.

2) Is there a particular AE mission that is best suited for the kind of tank that I am?

3) Anything else you think could be useful knowledge for me!

Thanks in advance for the help guys

Yes I have said this many times before and I know some that agree with me AE farming sux. If I farm it will be reg farm and the ONLY time I AE farm is when I need a certain type of rare or uncommon salvage. But almost all of them are surrounded for either FA tank or FA brute.

LSK, you didn't really answer the OP's questions. Also, try to make your posts seem like you passed English in school. I get a headache every time I try to read your run-on sentences and half-spelled words. Abbreviating long terms is fine, but shortening an already short word ("sux") is just lazy. Cell phone English is fine for text messaging, but written English should be formal enough for the audience you are writing to.

1. Farming S/L mobs is going to take advantage of Invulnerability's strengths. You probably knew that, but it sounds like you didn't figure out how to focus your build. Aim for 45% S/L defense with one enemy in range of Invincibility. Some may argue that you can get by with less for farming, but S/L attacks tend to have defense debuffs in them. After you get enough defense in your build, put as much recharge in it as you can afford. The more often you can use your AoEs, the faster your farming will go.

2. Make your own mission. Do a search for "fire farm" and play a few of them just to see how they work. Most of them use the same map with several objectives in the very first room. Completing those objectives triggers ambushes. You can generally cap tickets by completing all objectives on +0/x8. Don't worry about venturing deeper into the map. When you have the mission figured out, make your own, but replace the mobs with ones that do primarily S/L damage. You can make your own mobs and pick the exact powers they get, but try to avoid giving them more than one defense debuff power each.

3. You would be better off making a SS/Fire Brute for farming tickets. You can level it up on the fire farm maps and never leave Mercy Island if you want. The problem with Invuln/SS is the lack of AoE attacks and the low base damage.

Syntax is correct in terms of S/L defense and going after +recharge after that.

An SS/Fire brute is the farming king but, if you DO want to farm with your Invul toon, you can simply search S/L farm and more than enough options will pop up on the AE search function for you to choose from.

My first suggestion is that while an Inv tanker can be an unkillable brick wall shielding your team it really isn't at it's best killing large numbers of mobs quickly... which is more or less the purpose of farming. As Inv/SS you have one source of AOE damage (apart from your APP AOE attack if you took one) in Foot Stomp. Admittedly it's a good one, but it'll still take you considerably longer to kill a group with that character than with something AOE focused and with higher base damage.

For a farming character you're better off with a Scrapper or Brute; they do considerably more damage while having more than enough durability for the job. Because of that they'll clear maps quicker, and if you choose high damage AOE sets they'll do it MUCH quicker.

I once ran the same AE farm mission on my Inv/Stone tanker and on my BS/Shield scrapper... the scrapper was almost 4 times faster clearing the map. It wasn't any problem clearing it with the tanker, it just took MUCH longer thanks to it's lower damage and limited AOE. Both had no problems with +0 x8 setting but a spawn that would take the tanker over a minute to kill the scrapper took out in 10 seconds and was moving on to the next group.

Inv can excel at a lot of things, but farming really isn't one of them.

Well as it has been said a few times Yes you would be kind of slow because of your one PBAoE But !!!!!!! The thing that doesn't help is alo of people use some type of fire aura stuff ...... I JUST rolled one up YES it's pretty dam wicked and fast, but here's what I'm going to tell you. I have a build for you I can post that can farm 54x8 in about ten mins per run and I'm a fire//invl scrapper. Yes I do more dmg but Hey you can still do it Make your "Rage" a permanent power and then work on your foot stomp IOs and you should be good to go. Alot of the IOs I have in the build I can post for you tomorrow ((on iPhone )) can get from doing "random recipe roles Brozne 30-34 and 35-39". You will also beable to take the stuff you don't need and sell for good amount. I find what I don't need sells from little to alot so we shall see

All in all I'd say go for it because You could all ways farm little bit lower lvls to go faster right. With the incarnate powers. Oils get a few pets and/or get the new AoE powers, I love the void one it's a PBAoE my fav But that's your choice. Hopefully that helps a bit and in about like 10 hours I can post a build for you to work off of Some of it you can buy for super cheap and some you can random for or if you have the inf Buy it all.

I have two Invul / SS tankers now, one villain side and one hero side. And I can say they are decent farmers in AE, yes, you will get through it much faster on a brute, but a Tanker is a fine substitute for farming. My Hero SS tanker, has got enough fire and cold Defence that he can make a passable attempt at a fire farm now as well with enough greens with him. But smashing and lethal farms are where he's best.

While the others are right it is an uphill slog to get through it on a tanker, or can feel like it, you will get through it, its not THAT bad. The inspirations you'll need;

Reds (increase damage as far as possible)
Blues (you need to keep swinging)
Greens
maybe purples for when you get a defence crisis, believe me it can happen.

Make sure Dull Pain is charging quickly, even if you are not taking that much damage, use it, every time it pops to up out your hitpoints.

Perma Rage, this is essential, as long as you can keep this running constant you won't have a defence crash, the 10 seconds of next to no damage still stands though... but this combined with your red insps, you should be able to bludgeon your way through.

And footstomp, this needs to be charging fast when you are knocking mobs on their backside, they aren't trying to knock you on yours. You may also need some set bonuses from various places to increase your defence, but its not mandatory in the strictest sense if you carry a few purples in, but if you run out of purples at a bad time...

"written English should be formal enough for the audience to whom you are writing."

And remember to keep your pinky extended while typing formally.

(Sorry, couldn't resist! Don't take offense, I'm a big-time language nitpicker myself.)

I agree with this -- when I want tickets on my Inv/SS Tanker, it's not that hard to get them. But I wouldn't think of making a special build optimized just for farming; my all-purpose build works well enough.
