I hear that, but I accept having to download it because I'm paying a huge amount for my Sky+ sub which I know will pay for it soon enough, I'm just getting it earlier is all.

Sooner the TV companies actually use the internet rather than fearing it, the better

Erm, you are aware that the BBC is also a business, out there to actually make money? These toys that you seem to hate so much will bring in more money for the BBC, giving them more money to make Doctor Who and other tv shows we enjoy.

You're a consumer, if you don't like something, vote with your feet, don't buy them.
  3. Personally, I think SBC is excellent. I love the way he makes people look like fools all by themselves. He did it amazingly well as Ali G and Borat and the Borat movie was brilliant, to my mind.

What I loved about this whole affair was the people who run the Oscars saying they didn't want him to come dressed as the Dictator as they felt it would be just using the Oscars to promote his movie.

Erm, hello? What the hell are the Oscars all about!! The whole thing nowadays is just a shameless promotional thing! It might have been about acknowledging great performances and movies once upon a time, but not anymore, or they would never do or show the red carpet at all.

SBC broke through all of that with a single stunt and did it brilliantly. As for promoting his movie, hell, it worked, Twitter was ablaze within seconds of that stunt. I think all but one of the trending topics in the UK were about what had just happened, so yeah, job done.

As for whether he's funny? Meh, that's a completely subjective thing. There are people out there think that Epic Movie is hysterical, whereas I hate it with a fiery passion, so each to their own on that one.
  4. Say what you like, as a marketing stunt, it's worked!

Personally, I loved it, I think it's a marvellous way to break through the pomposity of the Oscars and the Red Carpet, the area more bothered about what people are wearing rather than their acting talent!

Plus, Seacrest showed some real class in how he dealt with it, assuming it wasn't all staged in advance with him
  5. Am I alone in that I really enjoyed Cars 2??

OK, it's not as good as the rest of the Pixar movies, but that's not saying much,is it! Pixar movies are all great!

It's a bit like TV shows like Buffy, Stargate, and Star Trek. Even the bad ones are way better than most of the crap that's out there like X-Factor!

Cars 2 was made to make a profit? Meh, I still enjoyed it! They're still a business and don't owe us anything after the amazing movies like Up and Finding Nemo!
  6. Very much depends what condition they were in. I'm guessing these were read a lot by the original owner, given that he bought them when he was 8, so, even after being in a loft for years, they might be creased in some way.
  7. Just imagine finding out what you've inherited!!

  10. Be fair though, you have to feel sorry for the Borg if they try to assimilate Rory.....
  11. ROFL!!

Since when did Troma do training videos??

Word to the wise though, SERIOUSLY NSFW!
  12. Ok, I have to admit it......this looks a LOT better than I expected!

I really loved the first 2 Raimi films (not so much the third) so was sceptical of this being redone, especially after the very basic teaser, but this looks pretty impressive!

Best thing for me, the quipping in the back of the stolen car to the criminal, much more in keeping with the wisecracking Spidey we know and love. Something that was sadly missing from Raimi's version.
  13. For those who don't know it, the Doctor Who Fan Orchestra is an attempt to perform the orchestral music from the relaunched seasons by fans across the world, all recording their part at home and it being edited together to form the final performance.

The first two were great attempts at this, but it's with the third one, Rose's Theme/Doomsday, that they finally started to nail it, probably due to their being a lot more people involved, giving it a fuller sound.....and it's excellent!

Really wish we could embed YouTube videos, but here's the link. Enjoy!!

I do love these questions, asked in a way to suggest that, actually, I don't know what I like and am completely wrong in what I like.

    I'll put it simply

I MUCH prefer Smith to Tennant and have adored both of the past two runs, way more than the runs of the last Doctor by RTD and Tennant.

Don't get me wrong, I love those as well, I'm watching them all again atm, just started season 4 (my fave season of the RTD era and my fave Companion EVAH!) but I adore the Matt Smith far more.

It's so much capturing the essence of the Doctor for me than the more emo Tennant do. I loved the story arc, but was glad when it ended finally as it was starting to grate on me with his whole "poor little me" persona. This Doctor has gone back to the magic and wonder I love in the Doctor.

But, you see, that's what makes the Doctor and the show so unique. There's a Doctor and a season for everyone.
  18. Only two songs nominated for best song?? Has that happened before?

Nothing for Drive or Shame? or Albert Brooks?

And how did Girl With Dragon Tattoo not get nominated for the awesome soundtrack???
