  1. Last I checked HeroStats still got things like power recharge and buff casts from the combat log, it just did it by grabbing the log messages out of the memory buffer rather than requiring you to save it to a file.

That also has the downside of the recharge being calculated as an average of how long it sees it, rather than based on game data. So it'll be a little off for the first activation after Hasten is up.

It's... quite unlikely that HeroStats is reading the network traffic.
  2. So, just something for the marketeers to chew on.

We've seen countless posts about people making untold billions of inf off converters.

If so many people are making inf, who is losing it?

Inf doesn't grow on trees. Well, actually it does, but I'm assuming that the amount of inf generated or farmed would be about the same regardless of if converters existed or not. So, given that, who is coming up with so many billions less than they would have otherwise?

This isn't one of those moral judgment posts (zomg the market cartel is hoarding the luck charms!!! ) or any of that crap, just academic curiosity. Who do you guys think is on the red side of the account ledger?
  3. A new power pool? What sorcery is this?!

No, we don't know anything about that possibility. Nothing at all. Promise. Listen to the Jedi. This is not the power pool you're looking for.

It does not. The "single target" powers that have the Gauntlet AoE are specifically flagged so that the proc can only fire on the main target -- the one you activated the power while targeting.

At least, that's how I interpret what Codewalker said. And by that interpretation, you won't really see any different results than if you put it in Focused Accuracy, or regular Build Up.
    Basically.

However, the Dominator ATO uses the same mechanic and was recently stealth-changed so that it no longer has an abysmal proc rate in AoE powers. This change could have happened in two ways: (1) The stacking mechanic changed so that it no longer prevents further checks on a failed proc, or (2) the PPM formula was adjusted to take the mechanic into account.

So Gaussian needs to be re-tested to see if it gets a chance to fire for each target in range now or not. Either way it will not stack with itself.
  6. And actually, we know there was a reward table, because Black Pebble was complaining in chat about getting a common.

No, I think what happened is that the reporter didn't meet the participation requirement to get anything but the 10 threads.

Oh how I wish we could have heard the other end of that. I can just imagine several of the devs snickering while off vent after hearing him ask that question.

I'm not sure that really applies anymore. The Villain respec includes an untouchable AV who likes to immobolize and kill anyone who wanders into 1/3 of the room, and if you don't bring lots of single target damage it's easy to end up in vine respawn hell.

While it's not bad and even rather quick for a 50+ WST, I could see it being very painful or even uncompletable on a lower level team with lots of people who need a respec. I can't see a real reason for that disparity other than, well, devs hating villains.

IIRC Infernal is from another dimension and eventually made his way to earth. Praetorian Infernal is from a different alternate dimension, and ended up traveling to Praetoria in a similar manner.
  11. I think people are way jumping the gun on this. I just watched the recording of the live stream. Sure, the Magistrarium is destroyed, and it looked like PPD Headquarters and the Ministry of Information are done for. It was very hazy from the blast, but the outline of the other buildings in the distance looked mostly intact.

So I'd wager it's a good bet that not even the entirety of Nova was destroyed by Cole's tantrum. Imperial City likely did not sustain significant damage, probably a few windows busted out at the most. Nova itself is probably salvageable with some work.

Everyone in Praetoria most certainly did not die. Cole did not "ascend" from the well as some people are implying -- he's explicitly still connected as the trial has you sever those connections. And even if he had, it wouldn't have killed all of the Praetorians. The well exists across dimensions, any human who ascends decreases the potential of all humans, Primal and Praetorian alike.
  12. It was originally 1 hour, they made a typo when they changed it to activate on claim and added the confirmation window.

I believe this is fixed on the build that's hit the test server yesterday.

Google may be a search engine, but it looks like someone knows how to use the Google webmaster tools to request that a page be removed from the cache.

Not anymore. It was confirmed on the ustream today that every time someone asks when Staff Fighting comes out, they push back the release date.

    (just kidding. well mostly)
  15. Everything under Special stacks to 9999, except:

Access Bypass - can only have 1
Prototype Element - can only have 2
Midnighter arc stuff - can only have 1 of each (obviously)

Incarnate salvage all stacks to 9999 as well, including threads.

Base salvage stacks to 20, and the components stack to 99. Except for Astrology Books, Rikti Data Pads and Rikti Plasma Weapons, which only stack to 5.
  16. Wow this degenerated fast.

    In before the lock.

/revels in the irony of a red name having to lock their own thread
  17. I understand perfectly well what he's saying. Just because you look at the enhancement after buying it and see that it's 3PPM, you shouldn't assume that it's anything other than a typo.

My point is the only valid argument for a refund would be if it were actually advertised as such before the sale. But it's not, it's just advertised as "Performance Shifter: Chance for +End". So the reasonable assumption is that it's supposed to function like the existing enhancements called that.

It's like ordering a 3MB connection from your ISP, then testing it and finding out that the cap isn't working and you can actually download at 30MB speeds. When they fix it and limit you to what you're paying for, do you demand a refund for you and all the friends you told to order the same plan?

(I went with that instead of my original analogy of finding cash in a wallet, then buying 100 more and getting mad when they don't all have the extra cash. I changed it because we're not talking about actual physical property here, so the same rules don't apply).

At the time you decide to spend your points on it, no it does not:

You don't see the 3PPM until after you buy it and claim it in your inbox.

No, because the description on the store item doesn't say what the proc rate is.

1.5PPM is still slightly higher than the crafted proc in Stamina (would be 1.2PPM to be identical in that power), so it doesn't break the reasonable assumption that the one you bought would be anything different than that.

Then there's those who likely didn't go to those AND they skipped Beast Mastery because MM is not that popular of an AT.

Add in that, there does seem (and I could be wrong, it's just observation) to be quite a few players who prefere to keep to strictly melee ATs.

Also add in that Staff Fighting has been requested long before Beast Mastery, one of the reasons being that people wanted a weapon set that was more smashing hurt and less slicey, maim, kill the criminal feelings.
Also remember, that at this point in time, melee ATs already have far more choices for their primary than anything else in the game.

Melee: 18 (not including Staff which will make 19, or Ninja Blade since it's basically Katana)
    Blast: 12
    Control: 9
    Mastermind: 7
    Support: 14

    Armors: 11
    Assault: 8
    Manipulation: 7

So yes, I don't see why adding yet more melee sets should hold up development of the ATs that don't have nearly as many options. Hence it's perfectly understandable to me that most of the pay-for sets are Melee-oriented, and would not have been developed at all (and certainly not at the pace they are being done) if not for people willing to buy them.

So if Staff gets pushed back a month so that it's not back to back with the other premium melee sets, that makes complete sense to me.

Well there was the whole thing Z mentioned about not wanting to release another melee powerset first. I mean, the purchased powersets have been, what?

    1. Beam Rifle (Freedom launch?)
    2. Street Justice
    3. Titan Weapons
    4. ???

So if Staff had been #4 instead of Beast Mastery, then we would have gotten an entirely different kind of whining (Y U MELLE ONLY?!)

Would it have been as bad as this? Who knows.

Said MMO doesn't have nearly the level of character customization options as CoH does. Not by two orders of magnitude, at least.

It also has less people rabidly attached to the look of their character who will be crying bloody murder if it looks even the slightest bit different.

    Not saying it's impossible, but...
