I'm always for this being implemented. There is no reason why it wouldn't be ok. I don't like running everywhere.

An undesired result of this would be spamming. Think of how many invites you will now get with "Hey, wanna buy some inf...only 10.99/mill"
-
I have noticed it for the past few weeks myself on Infinity. At first I thought it was just during 2x XP weekend, but then it persisted well after that. It has never been this horrible. I have posted under the thread under tech issues already, but hey, I'll post here too.

Exactly, and it is just fluff. It doesn't matter if someone decides to simply up and change everything about their characters origin.
-
Add me to the "yes" group too. Being able to select multiple origins would be interesting as well.

Quote:I have 30 characters on Infinity and none anywhere else.Exactly I have had to move to Champion which bites because all my work, Extra slots and INF stockpile are on Infinity. Along with all my RL friends and a decent VG. If they cannot clean this up in the next couple weeks I will put my account on hold till they can clean it up.
I know I can play on other servers but its not the same as playing your favorite characters. Or playing with your RL friends. But playing when its this bad is no fun. Going to another server just doesn't cut it.I feel your pain.

Quote:After seeing the replies, I can say this.
I know how to create teams. I do it when necessary. Last night no one wanted to be on my team. I asked politely and either I got no answer or 'no'. Well, no, that's not entirely accurate -- I got one guy who said yes, but he left almost immediately for an AE team.
The problem is not that I don't know how to start teams. It's that in Cap au Diable, on the Virtue Server at that time, there were no players willing to team with a measly 17th level brute.
Is it that I should have gone back to Port Oakes and tried there?
Maybe it was just that time of night. (11 PM CST)
Or maybe something else.
Honestly, it could have been one of those things or all of those things. There isn't much you can do about it other than shrug it off and solo. -
Quote:I'm also curious as to what constitutes the "leadership crap" that no one wants to do? How hard is it to say "we are doing X", "head to X" and maybe once in a mission "follow the tank" or simply state some simple tactics. I like to PUG and have been on many a PUG where not much is said, even from the player with the star and we steam rolled missions. This game isn't very complicated.I don't really understand why people hate forming their own teams. If there were three other people broadcasting at the same time for a similar-level team, that would have been a four-person team (which is fine in this game), and you could have all been off.
All it would have taken is for one of those four people to start inviting. Whenever I see that kind of thing, I start inviting, and it's amazing how fast a team will form. -
Count me in also. I have noticed this problem for the past couple of weeks myself. I play solely on Infinity and it is never like this. Just ran /netgraph and it is pathetic. There are defintely some network issues somewhere and I know it is not me. I originally thought it was because of 2x weekend, but it persisted way after it.

Quote:This ^^Unless things have changed there should be a Filter for All.
This will list all IO's in the database and enable you to place bids that are not currently available on the market.
I made this mistake a long time ago. I don't think the "All" option is on by default. -
Any improvements to first person view is welcome IMO. /signed.

Quote:The only issue I have with those missions is that you have to defeat how ever many they specify in the mission. It's not like you go out and start pressing them for information and eventually one gives it up. If there was some chance to get the needed information sooner than say the 50th bad guy they would play out better. It also opens up opportunities to create skills around interrogation and what not and potentially get more information than what you were looking for which could lead to other side missions.Isn't this basic idea behind many of the story arc hunt missions ?
From Bonefire's 10-14
all the way through to the 45-50 with examples like
Harevy Maylor
Maybe I'm thinking too much into it...I don't know. -
Quote:The only way they could setup another server with a different rule set, ie: open world PvP, the internal game mechanics would have to allow for rule sets to be defined so that this would be possible. The game was not designed to work like that, although with issue 15 I believe the devs did do some internal changes to allow for different rules for PvP and PvE regarding powers. While it is possible for them to apply such mechanics to the game world as a whole I don't see them expending the effort since PvP in this game is not very popular. The other reason is that in order to setup another "server" would require more equipment that would go virtually unused. Each server consists of not just one computer, but a server farm to handle all the zones and instances and what not.I actually agree with you - that's why I said (in some other posts) that allowing it on only one server would solve 90% of griefing issues. Those that don't want the grief stay on a PvE server. I have no idea how easy it'd be to limit it to one server (and neither do you
), but it would work, IMO.
So yes, in short, I do understand what it would take to do something like this. -
Quote:Have you ever played EverQuest? Some sort of open PvP would certainly be in genre. While I think the fear of challenge spamming is real (if presented a bit over dramatically), it would be cool if there was some way to implement it without having to go to specific zones/arenas.
The problem with allowing players to challenge other players openly is that even if there is a way to ignore incoming challenges, you then have players tell spamming other players to turn off their ignore challenges flag. This already happens with players that flag them selves as not wanting to accept invites.
Like others have said, there is not real way to control players no matter how well you control the mechanics. -

One thing to consider is how the game world is presented to us. It is a zoned game world. Having vehicles in the small zones we exist in doesn't work well. If the game was to transition to a completely seamless game world that is much more expansive than vehicles would work well and make some sense. Right now traveling between zones is so easy the NEED for a vehicle don't really make sense.
