Would also make blind invites slightly less annoying. You still didn't ask to be invited, but at least you'd get an idea of what the person is inviting you for.
Unfortunately, the people who tend to blind invite a lot are also the people that probably wouldn't use this feature.

That's not to say, however, that I think this is a bad idea. In fact, I do like it.
While we're at it can we make the invitation come in the chat window? The team window could auto pop like it does when you join the team and a button for "accept" could be on that instead of the crappy dialog in the middle of the screen blocking your view from whatever you might be fighting.
Hmm... Maybe that should have it's own thread.

Worse yet it would make the intrusive, unsolicited pop-up even bigger.

I wonder how this would be implemented though. I imagine anothe text field could be added to the Team box under "Search Comment", and a new command like /tellinvite could be used.

Considering that most players I have encountered would rather type less than more, I really doubt that would be a problem.

An undesired result of this would be spamming. Think of how many invites you will now get with "Hey, wanna buy some inf...only 10.99/mill"

Trial accounts can't send team invites.
FUN FACT: That burst of light when you level up is actually the effectiveness escaping from your enhancements all at once.

Considering I still find it annoying when I get a tell and the team invite at the same time I fail to see how this would be any better. Im still not expecting the invite and im always getting blind invites while im doing something else so the pop up will still be annoying.
A tell first then giving me a chance to respond allows time for me to finish up what I was doing and be ready to get the pop up.
Also the thing about trial accounts not being able to send tells.... I forget, are trial accounts able to send emails or was that also disabled?

I don't know if a message field is the right way to go, but some kind of method for seeing what the team is like before you join would be nice. If nothing else, the leader's (or even better, the whole team's) name, AT, level and zone. And maybe the team size. Possibly hidden unless you click a third button on the prompt?
Heroic Man has invited you to join a team. Do you accept?
(Yes) (No) (Info)

Really...Is it that difficult to just right click, click "Send Tell" (Or is it Chat?...Don't remember right now), and frikin' say something? Making it even easier for them will not make people stop sending blind invites.
A much better solution would be a disgruntled monkey with a taser who punishes them every time they blind invite someone, and even that probably wouldn't work.
The off-beat space pirate...Capt. Stormrider (50+3 Elec/Storm Science Corruptor)
The mysterious Djinn...Emerald Dervish (50+1 DB/DA Magic Stalker)
The psychotic inventor...Dollmaster (50 Bot/FF Tech Mastermind)
Virtue Forever.
The RMTers use trial accounts to gather names, and then send out a flurry of spam emails on a real account because they know they only have a short window before that acount gets banned.
Trial accounts can still use the /search feature, and that's all they need to gather a couple hundred names at a time. They probably wouldn't use an invite message system to spam people because the way they're doing it now is more efficient. They'd get maybe 30 or 40 invite message spams out before the account is banned. Since people don't check their email much anymore they could get several hundred of them out in the same time before someone marks them as a spammer.
The feature suggested in the OP would be nice, but it would do very little to make blind invites less annoying.

So since I've been back after years of inactivity I've found myself making good use of the group search thats built into the game. It makes finding people who want to group easy. Currently upon setting yourself to "Looking for X" you can set a message so when others see you on the list they know what you're looking to do. I think it'd be good to reverse this and let a party leader send a message along with his invite.
So say you want to invite Bob2.0, you send him an invite and the message pops up,
"Joe3.0 has invited you to join his team! Joe3.0's message is: 'Hey we're doing missions in Steel Canyon if you want in.' Do you accept Joe3.0's invite?"
Would save on having to tell new members what the group is doing every time someone gets invited.
