  1. That sounds great for the early part of the game. However, once you get your own secret lair, it would be nice if you could get your own teleporter. Going back to your base isn't as convenient as going to the nearest hospital, but it might be better than having to escape jail every time.

Also, it just *feels* vilanous to be able to rework the teleport system to escape justice at the last moment.

I'd be willing to bet that the new body types will appear first for NPC/minions... Maybe in a minor patch or in the update before they are included. that way they can observe them moving around and interacting before letting the players wreak havoc with them.

    [/ QUOTE ]

NPCs and Minions use different models than players. They also don't do nearly as much stuff or use any of the costume pieces, so that wouldn't be a useful way to test the new body types.
  3. I believe what Statesman said was "noncombat leveling". I don't think he ever clarified if this meant regular character leveling or leveling in a different system.

He hinted once that there was an offline component and the it dealt with "auto..." something.

I don't think a Dev ever actually said detective work either, but that is the reining guess since Statesman said that a hero's heart is his powers, his soul is his costume, and his mind is... whatever SSOCS is.
  4. Does anyone else pronouce it as "socks", or is that just me?
  5. Animal? I read the interview saying that teen bodies were coming, but I don't remember anything about animal. The only Dev comment I can remember about animals was that they haven't worked out the problems with 4 legged creatures yet.
  6. Vyvyanne, I'd just like to point at that the bug description box is *not* big enough to describe most problems. There have been many times that I spent several minutes trying to erase a character here and a word there so I could fit in one more sentence.

In a couple cases the game gave me an error message. When I tried to copy and paste the error message into the box, it wouldn't fit.

Other times I had steps to reproduce a bug, but I didn't bother writing a bug report at all because I knew it wouldn't come close to fitting in that tiny little box. So you guys aren't even getting all the bugs we see because that box is half the size that we need.

I'd really like to help when I can. Could you please let someone know that those boxes are just too small?

you don't need a dev comment to know that archery is GOING to be a blaster/dev powerset, if anybody has watched or read anything about archery will know that archery is ranged. Geez, read the history books :P, especially ones on warfare or hunting.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Huh?

He was asking whether or not they were going to be pool powers.
  8. [ QUOTE ]
that depends on whether the 2 new power stuff are going to be a powerset (having sonic or archery as a primary or secondary power) or a power pool and I bet that it'll be a power set.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm pretty sure that one of the Devs said Archery was going to be a Blaster/Defender powerset. I can't remember where, it might have been in an interview.
  9. Well, if we're going to turn this into a wishlist for Issue 3, then I'll join in.

I'd just like the special interiors from Issue 2 spread around more. I started a new character and got a mission with the 5th warehouse. That was great! I was really glad to see something other than the usual warehouse.

Later I got a mission about the Hellions being in an abandoned office building. I'd seen pics of the new Hellions abonded office, so I thought I'd see more special stuff.

No, it was just the same abandonded office interior that I've seen many dozens of times before. The same thing happened with a Skulls drug lab.

My new character is up to level 9 now and has still only seen the one new interior. *Please* use these new tilesets more. There are a lot of missions that could use them without changing anything else in the missions. The regular tilesets are so badly overused. I'd love the extra variety.

    I know what's in Update 3....

    [/ QUOTE ]

See! This is exactly what I was afraid of! Thanks to you people and your "let's talk about Update 3" frenzy, now we get taunted for the next couple months!

It's like being a kid a month before Christmas. Except this kid has parents who like to say things like, "Wow Billy, you're really going to enjoy your... Oh, nevermind."

  11. Let's not worry about Issue 3. This is at least the fourth thread I've seen asking about it. Truth is, it's months away. There's really no point in thinking about it yet.
  12. I'm going to contribute one thing to this conversation.

The one place where every game should be a little too easy is at the beginning. At level 6, people who just bought the game may not even know that debt is. Hitting the limit on it is not the way they should be introduced to it.

This is true of every game out there. For the first section of the game you take it easy on the player. Let him learn the basics, like finding groups or using tactics. If you have a place early on where he has to learn *all* of these things really fast, you'll lose him.

Level 12 comes really fast. After that it's OK to start ratcheting up the difficulty a bit. Before that, the game *needs* to be fairly easy to give new players a chance to figure things out one at a time.

As far as tuning-down goes, I'd just like to say that (except for stuns and sleeps) I like seeing the variety of powers when fighting a bunch of Outcast minions. It's the lieutenants and bosses (Shockers, especially) that are nuts, I think. Haven't played a low-level alt since they got tuned down the first time, though, so my opinion may no longer be valid.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I agree with this. I like the electric blasts and stuff that the Outcast minions do. Much better than guns. The Shockers having a healing power is a tad much, though. Maybe if it just had a longer recharge timer.

I was able to beat the Lead Shocker, but not by as much as other bosses. He was mainly a problem when he had huricane going at the same time as that cloud that shocks you all the time. Maybe he could be toned down a little, but I'm not gonna be upset if he isn't.
  14. My problem with the Hollows was that I couldn't find any of the low level guys so I had to get a group to hunt 8s.

I think that's just because the Hollows is new, so *everyone* is there, and they ran out of the lowest levels of enemies. Soon the newness will ware off and there will be a more normal amount of people there. That might make the difficulty more reasonable all by itself.
  15. [ QUOTE ]
It's really sad that people don't want this game to be challenging. I was ready to quit before the +1 "bug". Now the lower levels are actually more fun than the higher ones.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Different people find different things challenging and fun. I accept the fact that *you* find the game challenging. However, it's not for a lot of us.

For a lot of people, including me, the +1s make the early game tedious. I can handle the missions, but the tactics that I have to use are so defense oriented that it sucks the fun out of the game.

So it's not just a matter of "those people dislike challenge". For them, the game is less fun. Once we get a dificulty slider, things will be better for everyone.
  16. [ QUOTE ]
Ted Knight is also the name of the Golden Age Starman from the Justice Society of America.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, that's the one I thought of. Was it an accident that this is the exact name of a super hero? I wouldn't be surprised if it was, considering how many superheroes there have been.
  17. [ QUOTE ]
We ARE going to do something to the 22+ mobs...

And I'm definitely going to get to work on that darn mission difficulty slider (since the higher level people love the increased mob levels...)

    [/ QUOTE ]

lol, you can almost *see* Statesman's stress from the last few days.
  18. That would conflict with their plans to make the +22 mobs more dangerous.

Considering that purples quickly become hard to hit (making grouping with a 3 level different buddy harder) I prefer than plan. If they make the level 25 guy a lot harder to beat (and they'll give more XP for him too, of course) that'll work better. Then I'll have more challenge from him and my level 22 friend will still be able to land a shot on him every once in awhile. That's not nearly as true as when fighting a level 26 guy.
  19. I think it's time for me to channel CuppaJo:

Can't we just agree to disagree?
  20. [ QUOTE ]
I think it's rather insensitive to some people that they did this, as some people will have to miss out on some content, mainly the invasion, which may drag on for more than a day, but it's still content.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Uh, are you kidding with this part? Since the Invasion is going to go on for a few days, nobody is going to miss anything because of work or a Holiday.

Also, Jewish holidays are from sunset to sunset, right? So shouldn't it be over tonight, meaning the OP can start playing on the first day of release?

This really just doesn't seem like an issue to me. If they'd released it tomarrow, you'd get the exact same enjoyment but all the people playing now would get less.

    [ QUOTE ]
In other words if you are not an AT or build with resistance to status effects you are not allowed to solo at high lvl?

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's what the Inspirations are for! To help the solo player!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Mobs don't drop Disciplines as often as they use holds. If you're not hunting right next to a contact, you can't get enough inspirations to solo. Are we supposed to run to a contact after every 5th fight?
  22. [ QUOTE ]
The Trial Zones. These are designed for teams sizes 6 to 8 or so. Those spawns are HHHUUUGGGGEEEE - and challenging (at the low and mid levels). But many people don't take the challenge.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Trial zones aren't worth the hassle. There are three problems.

    1) Selling enhancements. Just put one trainer guy at the front gate who will buy enhancements. Having to run out, find a store, and run back in is an annoying waste of time. This is *especially* true if you're on a team that is trying to hunt challenging mobs. Do you really want to be the guy who says "yeah, that's a challenging group of mobs, but hold on a minute, I need to go sell enhancements".

    2) No hospitals. Whay can't there be a triage tent at the front? Maybe not for things like the Issue 2 tunnels, but most zones could have this.

A lot of us stop thinking about trial zones after Boomtown. If you die in Boomtown you spawn at the hospital in Steel Canyon. At the *other end* of Steel Canyon. Your team has to wait a long time for you to get back, or else find a weaker hunting groud for awhile.

    3) Because of points 1 and 2, finding a team is hard.

None of these things are horrible. They're just annoying enough that people think "why bother, it's easier just to hunt around here". They don't complain, they don't even realize they've made the decision, they just choose regular zones a little more often than they would otherwise.

Hazzard zones are just more annoying than they have to be. With no triage tent and no store of any kind, you spend enough time running around to make them less worth the effort.
  23. It doesn't even stop there. I have a contact in Founders Falls who loves to send me to Kings Row. The travel powers are nice and all, but what a gigantic waste of time.
  24. [ QUOTE ]
Positron, I for one just want to say that I am saddened by your decision to cave to a very vocal, but very small, minority of players who wish to play this game and do every mission solo.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Wanting to play every mission solo isn't the problem. The problem is that when forced grouping missions are in a story arc. When that happens, then missions that *can* be done solo are locked off until you've done a mission that *can't* be done solo.

Most of the people who are happy about this change do group sometimes. Nothing is being taken away from their experience by this. It's just that this change keeps a lot of content open that was closed when the group only missions were in story arcs.
