Yeah, you're hopeless. Not even bothering.
Nine full ATs and multiple powersets "dont' appeal to gamers."
Upper level content and the zones to host them "don't appeal to gamers."
IOs "don't appeal to gamers."
Having missions actually be playable "doesn't appeal to gamers."
Right. As I said, you haven't thought this through at all.
You want a suggestion? Do some research on what would actually be affected before you make a suggestion. Like going to the wiki (link in my sig,) and typing in "Issues" to see what was added when and JUST how much you'd really lose.

mind if i have an idea and express it? -
[ QUOTE ]
I don't think you represent "gamers".
I think you represent "just you". So please, enough with the presumptions. The game's INCREASED in fun and INCREASED in value to the company over the 5 years it's been out. Removing anything - as you can see by the furor that taking away the badges caused - is a BAD thing.
So you're saying, that "way back when" it was *everything that this game needed to be played by everyone playing it*?
Because - I'm a gamer. And I like it just the way it is.
[/ QUOTE ]
im a gamer too.
Its not like i like my previous gf better that the actual, but still, shes my friend.
One cant clear what happened.
Still, i like the 'nostalgia' Server idea. Why would a game would have the same bandwith for less players, if they could keep the long gone (o short gone) dudes by letting em having the game they like?
i dont get the marketing idea behind this.
Or maybe they didnt think about it. -

First off, this is probably impossible. Also, the level cap was 40 in Issue 1, there was no PvP, no villains, no Inventions, no badges, no Market, no AE, no Kheldians, several of the zones didn't exist...
Yeah, this is probably one of the worst "repeal ED" posts I've seen. ED isn't going away. A rollback to Issue 1 would probably break the game in a variety of intersting and catastrophic ways. This is not a good idea. Probably not even a possible idea.
[/ QUOTE ]
So, you think the game nowadays is in good shape?
Sorry, this aint my opinion, but, its just me.
[/ QUOTE ]
I think it's in far better shape, yes. And I'm going to assume by "Issue 1" you actually mean release, technically "Issue 0."
Let's see, going back to Issue 0 would, for me:
- Delete probably half my characters, between villains, Kheldians, and those on extra slots.
- Ruin multiple others whose powersets didn't exist. (Sonic, TA, Archery, Mental manipulation, Plant controllers, /thermal, Cold/Ice Defenders...)
- Ruin anything that has IOs in it. Not just sets.
- Remove 50s.
- Remove multiple zones. The Hollows, Eden, the Shadow Shard, Striga, Croatoa, the RWZ reverting to the RCS, and more.
- Remove any indication you're on a story arc.
- Force you to continually run around tram stations, as the trains would only go one zone to another - no menu to pick from.
- Remove my SG bases, and everything stored inside of them. (Bases did not exist until COV.)
- Remove my global friends list. (I3 or I4.)
- Gut probably 80% of the *remaining* characters costumes.
- Remove auto-exemplaring from task forces. Hope your exemplar doesn't drop, since you'll be auto-kicked!
- Break multiple story arcs, where you'd get an error instead of a waypoint.
- Remove the fifth costume slot. (Edit - going to issue "0" means removing all but one slot.)
- Remove capes and auras. (Issue 2)
- Remove the respec trial
- Only allow you to trade 9,999 inf (Issue 2 increased to 99,999.)
- No TP confirmation or rez confirmation.
And those are just for starters.
"No" doesn't begin to sum it up. "Bad idea" doesn't begin to describe it.

so much of what you mention dont appeal gamers even... such as the zones...Besides, i agree with the transportation.

I've been around since three days before launch, and honestly... yeah. The City's in pretty good shape. I've seen tons of improvements over the years, and honestly ED was an improvement. I still have an old character with pre-ED slotting and, well--it was pretty boring. One accuracy, five damage... that was such a naive time.
Which isn't to say there haven't been any setbacks; but compared to launch? Compared to four years ago? Three years ago? Two years ago? Things have improved greatly in Paragon City. To claim otherwise would really be to feign ignorance of the things that have improved.
Really, the only thing I really miss from launch are 5thie street mob spawns and the King's Row pedestrian bug.
[/ QUOTE ]
I was not there yet, and i agree with the ED. but i will stand on my ground, as my community friends,
We all believe that MA is killin the game, and or was too early implemented.
therefore, i envy the knew player that dont use MA, and i wish they where servers with different versions, as in FPS. So one can play their own style.
That would be more efficient than having many servers with the same game.
I wish this would exist, so you'd get my idea. -
To the OP: im not here to be creative, creativity is my job.
Im here to have fun.
I dont care about the wannabe devs.
I pay enough to get a good game by pros. -

Since we had ED, aka, you cant play like you used to, then the market, then post abuse punishments, then post badges removal, i suggest the next issue should be issue 1.
Lots of new players dont know, me included, what it was like. but issue 4, when i got on, was fun.
So, this is why i suggest we go back in time.
Issue 1, Its prolly saved somewhere. put it back on, call it 'Nostalgia'
and let the players appreciate. -
This forum is read by devs, once its repported by mods, mods have friends, so basically, if either your not a mod or dev's friend, you ll hardly be listened to.

The problem is we don't have enough of a good faith in the writing team to believe they have the ability to conclude a plot at all, let alone conclude one well. It's especially frustrating since they have an amazing tool to do something relatively unprecedented in story-driven MMOs.
[/ QUOTE ]With the recent unclosed story arcs and the new tf/sf in i15, I don't have any faith in any of the writers to even pump out a half-good and finished storyline. I also think the new direction for storyline-driven content is absurd. It's just wall of texts to distract you from the next mission. All the story info I get is from the sight. If they want this to be a story driven game, they need to find a better way to deliver it.
[/ QUOTE ]

To be fair, I never claimed that hobby work shouldn't be shared.
[/ QUOTE ]
No, you claimed that "Amateur hobbyists on the other hand do not publish their work for public evaluation very often," which, frankly, I find to be pretty absurd. They do it all the time. Especially now with the ability to utilize the internet to do so.
[ QUOTE ]
Amateurs being serious about their work is first and foremost, for their own enjoyment and then for public consumption should they choose to share it. If their personal enjoyment isn't their primary objective then it goes against the very definition of "hobby".
[/ QUOTE ]
If their personal enjoyment comes in part from the public consumption, then yes, it still qualifies as a "hobby". The very point of many creative pursuits is to present them to an audience. That's where a large part of the enjoyment can come from.
[ QUOTE ]
Anyways, the two types of seriousness aren't the same in terms of degree when you take into consideration that money is involved.
[/ QUOTE ]
So, we're back to non-professionals not being as serious. Isn't that what you said you weren't saying earlier?
[ QUOTE ]
There are 305 million people in the United States and it is safe to assume that the vast majority of them have some form of hobby yes?
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes. It's also safe to assume that the vast majority of those people aren't pursuing video production (so much for your stats, sorry). It's also safe to assume that a significant number of people--perhaps the majority--who enjoy artistic pursuits, share their creations with others. Evidence of this includes--but is not limited to--the countless number of websites dedicated to that very thing, including--but not limited to--youtube.
[ QUOTE ]
On this forum alone, the sheer amount of complaints regarding how their arcs are not getting played enough or how their arc is rated unfairly seems to paint a different picture when it comes to expectation.
[/ QUOTE ]
So?
[ QUOTE ]
The fact that many people have gone so far as to try to block out any competing types of missions (i.e. farm) so their arcs can get a fair shake only further reinforces my point.
[/ QUOTE ]
Again, I don't really care about that point, not arguing that point, already stated my view on it.
[ QUOTE ]
Per Webster's definition of hobby:
[/ QUOTE ]
Yah, uhm... don't need dictionaries quoted at me, thanks.
[ QUOTE ]
Says nothing about sharing their hobbies with others as a requirement for their relaxation.
[/ QUOTE ]
Nor does it preclude it, which was my point. You appear to think it does. It doesn't.
For example, acting, theatre, performance art, slam poetry, all can be pursued as "hobbies", and public consumption is intrinsic to the personal enjoyment derived from pursuing them.
[ QUOTE ]
If that's not expectation at work then what is it?
[/ QUOTE ]
Again, I'm not debating the existence of these expectations.
[/ QUOTE ]
The problem here is that we dont deal with Amateurs willing to be pros.
We deal with pros behaving as Amateurs.
This, to a certain extend, leads to ununployment. -

You do mean Contankers right?
Because like.. Contankers can do everything.
They are true Tank Mages.
Perfection at every corner.
Ya they can even herd... gather. group up. pull. pull out of LOS...
They dont even need a team, they can be awesome all by themselves. OR they can team up and make you wish you were on your controller.
8 controller teams can MASH THROUGH EVERYTHING. There is no TF in this game an 8 troller team cant smash through. There is no TRIAL in this game a bunch of trollers cant handle.
If you did not know this to be fact, allow me to laugh at you now.

"they" didnt removed my farms.
My farms are indicared as "farms" in the description (actually : warning, its a farm, if u dont like it...')
They never got rid of farms b4 MA,
they never got rid of gold farmers,
they never locked PI to be lvl 40 restricted,
they implemented 'Castle' in PI courtyard for the lobies to lvl.
they did put a MA in atlas, though its known to be a lvl 1/5 area,
they never changed the devs choice,
they will remove the badges, but not the farms.
They will never remove farming.
Im a farmer.
I missed 2 good tf's because ppl couldnt play.
Though, maybe these dudes where not farmed either.
Its all about cash.
(ps: i should worry about my cash irl, i thought i d have a cool day gaming, it ended up in a loss.)
the most rewarding, finally, was me farming alone....) -

I've had posts that even made me blush live long fruitful lives, while other completely innocuous ones were sent to feed the forum monster.
From years of first-hand observation I've noticed that directing a barbed post at a fellow forumite who prefers to handle their own business, Evil Ryu for example, will garner no rebuke.
Direct a much milder post at a thin-skinned type who's preferred method of discourse is tattling to Daddy and *poof*, things tend to vanish.

to the OP:
that is sweet, but kinda small gaming, imo.
Try to corner hi end, it wont be that easy.
say, i actually have 3 bills, i know i would lose in the hi end WW market pvp. and the low aint worth it money wise.
So i wont pretend this is Vegas, or at least imma wait in the Bellagio with a call girl counting my doe over a Chateau Petrus 2006 until next issue.
(soz for the english, im improving, but aint over yet)

or maybe because its just boring
as for the op, i dont ask the devs or players if my mobs are 'authorised'
I make them hard, so i wont be nerfed.

For a while there was trading in between my buy and sell points, but it usually dried up and went back into my control.
[/ QUOTE ]
I always used to claim that this sort of manipulation couldn't be maintained, and this piece quoted above is the reason why. All of the trading should have shifted to be within his price points and stayed there until he got tired of buying things and not selling them. That's what my econ 101 professor told me would happen. That's what logic and common sense tell me should happen. That's certainly what I do whenever I find myself facing that situation in the market. What I have learned in the past couple of years though is that, in this game, for our particular market, there simply is not enough competition to break this kind of manipulation quickly and consistently.
Part of it is the low volume. Part of it is the low stakes. People just don't care. I mean, they care enough to come in here and excoriate everyone, but they don't care enough to price their items appropriately and buy patiently. Most markets really are self-regulating. Ours isn't, not as long as the overwhelming majority of people insist on selling low and buying high (because they're in a hurry, or they want to be generous, or whatever).
EDIT: I keep doing the same thing. I read an interesting OP, respond thoughtfully, and then later check the rest of the thread and discover that it has gone so far astray that my post is completely out of place. Sigh. That's what I get for spending too much time in real life and not enough on the forums.

Are you aware that those using MA exploits to reap ridiculous rewards/time can be suspended, or have those rewards reversed?
The developers have significant datamining in place, so if they see a particular mission being used over and over again, for quick rewards, it will draw their wrathful gaze.
For crazy fights and decent (but not exploitative) rewards, I'd suggest an Imperious Task Force. They are pretty popular, tend to move quickly, and provide a variety of challenges.
