  1. Okay this is really strange so bear with me.

Over the last few days I've been experiencing a strange bug that's terminating Rage and Active Defense long before their duration has expired. As an example, I'm at a mission door and Rage has just activated, it's on auto so I manually activate Active Defense and enter the mission. After zoning(my average zone time is about ten seconds)I check to make sure both are running. I move to the first spawn, and at some point, usually never more than 30 seconds into the mission both Rage and Active Defense are down.

Coupled with this the icon for both powers go into deep recharge, meaning that both power icons are barely visible and they both take far longer to recharge than they should. My attempts to time this haven't been exact as this bug also seems to drop my defense by about 20% across the board. Currently I have melee at 46% and ranged at 43% so this drop causes some serious problems. Trying to stay alive and time events has been interesting since even using purples does not seem to do anything for survivability.

So with that in mind, here are the numbers as I've been able to record them. Out of ten missions the average time before Rage and Active Defense drop is 27 seconds. From that point the recharge time for Rage is 2 minutes 34 seconds and 2 minutes 10 seconds for Active Defense. Now I currently have enough global recharge and each power slotted that the in game numbers show the recharge time for Rage to be 1 minute 57 seconds and Active Defense to be 1 minute 41 seconds. Activating the powers after zoning in didn't make a difference.

After this cycle ends and both powers have recharged the problem does not return. It's only at the start of the mission and it happens every time in RWZ missions, a bit in normal missions and not at all in the AE. I first noticed this happening after six slotting Mako's Bite into Air Sup. Just yesterday I slotted Gloom fully with the Entropic Chaos set and this problem is now intermittent instead of occurring each instance.

I was able to get a Kin Corrupter to help with some more testing. We tried giving me Speed Boost before entering the mission with both powers activated prior to entering the mission and had the same results. Entering the mission with both powers activated and then getting Speed Boost did make a difference, the bug went away. So it seems as if this is some kind of recharge bug causing the powers to terminate earlier than they should.

I did bug this in the game but I'd thought I'd post here to see if anyone has experienced this as well or if anyone has any suggestions for more testing. So, any thoughts?

You seem to be using it in a way that's synonymous with "grinding" (taking mission after mission after mission to get through.) That's basic hunting, not farming.

Farming involves "cultivation"- sticking with a single thing/place (different AE missions don't count) that offers optimal reward (whatever you're interested in- gold, kills, xp, etc) at minimal risk. That's why it's so often associated with "exploit" -- by pushing the limits of maximizing reward and minimizing risk, the farm often steps into exploit territory.

If you're just running missions toward a goal, still experiencing risk that's proportionate to the reward, that's not the 'farm' we're talking about.
There is no risk in this game, it's all reward. Unless you were referring to debt perhaps? Because debt used to be a risk. Now it's more of a novelty. I mean how much of a risk is something that can be recovered by not playing the game?
  3. The easiest way around spawn size for a team larger than 8 players would be to scale the mobs themselves not the numbers. Move every class of mob down a notch or two, or three.

Bosses become the new minions, EBs the new LTs, AVs the new bosses. I suppose GMs could be the new AVs. This at least would make the content interesting and playtesting could fine tune it. The only questions is that of rewards. I'd suggest normal game drops and Merits. How many Merits and how often these could be run I have no idea. Frankly I feel it should be a little on the low side since I see this as level 50 content so any risk is minimal at best.

Just saying. We were told more info for I16 in July, now it's July.

    MORE I16 INFO NAO!

Er umm... More Issue 16 info please?

Design docs? You mean none of it has been implemented yet? I'm not sure how, but I know the AE is at fault for this.

Seriously! That's what I saw this weekend in the auction house when I went looking for an Apocalypse IO and a few other purples to complete a set I'd begun slotting several months ago.

How is *anything* going for 200 million plus inf. on the auction house? Is the system that unbalanced now? There's just no way the casual player is ever going to afford a purple recipe now - or is that the idea?

    *edit*

Deleted the $ sign - sorry about that!

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm not seeing the problem here. An item has sold for a price you think is too high. Okay, if you don't want to pay that price, then don't. Place a bid for what you are willing to pay and wait. Give it a week or so, if you don't get it, creep your bid up a bit and wait again.

Sure it might take a while, but you'll save a whole lot of cash in the process. As an example, on one of my characters I'm memorizing IO recipes. So I've been buying them from the market because the University prices are too high. I placed a bid for 10 level 50 Accuracy IO recipes at 20,000 inf each. It took a week or so but I got all 10 at that price. Now obviously a purple will be harder to get, but it will be yours in time, and I imagine your chances will only increase during double XP weekend.
  6. I like the AE because I can make low level arcs to help me level a new villain. Anything that separates me from Kalinda and Burke can only be good. So naturally I'm against removing the AE from Mercy. No one farms there anyway. Well, no one but sub level 10s hilariously trying to farm a 54 boss map.

Given what's been confirmed for I16 as well as mention of a major graphics upgrade in Going Rogue, I'm not sure CoX2 is going to be needed any time soon.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'd tend to agree with you to a point. If we assume(gonna be a lot of that in this post)that Rogue launches this time next year, and also that it's an upgrade comparable to the CoV upgrade, I think they can reasonably expect a four to five year life extension for CoX. Which would mean they would need to begin work on CoX 2 right after the Rogue launch given traditional development cycles.

Of course we know nothing about the guts of Rogue. It could include a complete engine rebuild slanting toward a continuing modular upgrade path that would extend the life of the game for the next five to eight years with additional, non-expansion based upgrades dropping once a year or so. This would give us a 'new' game while not splitting the player base.

Obviously this would require a massive patch for those that don't buy the expansion, and it would probably require what amounts to a re-install of the game as nearly everything is replaced. But if it were me, this is definitely the way I would go.
  8. So which will offer more XP? AE farms with normal XP gains or missions with double XP? Considering some of the farms I've been on, I don't think even double XP weekend can compete with them.
  9. And Snipers. Lots of Snipers.
  10. This may not be new, and it may not be intentional, but I seem to be getting full credit for allied mob kills in missions. If I remember right we're only supposed to get partial to no XP depending on how much damage we do versus the ally mob. But in both a Mayhem and a mission in Faultline I was getting full Xp even if I didn't touch the defeated mob.

Sometimes I wish you could view missions in the AE like in arena matches. I would spend hours just watching stupid people and laughing.

I join low level AE farms just for the chuckle factor. Maybe I'm a tad twisted, but I love watching a bunch of below level 10 characters SK'd up to 46 trying to take down level 51 LTs. The best part is when they convince themselves that a tank and healer would make all the difference.

I hate the new trend, "Must send tell with build." I saw that the other day so I sent a tell, "I'm built like a brick !@#$ house, can I join?"

    [/ QUOTE ]

It could be worse. We could have an Armory like WoW and people could look up your build and then insult you because you don't have the bestest IO sets. I swear sometimes it seems like Blizzard wants to have the worst community online.

    >> Sheesh. People'll nitpick anything.

The time point, though, is actually a valid one. 'Ample time' means different things to different people, but I absolutely despise when people expect the lowest possible time, then ditch when they don't get it. Or they know that the TF takes at least X amount of time, but they know they can only be around for Y, and then dump on you in the middle. :/

The TF Average x 2 time was just a general guideline I try to use specifically for the majority of TFs (which can be done in around 1.5 to 2 hours for the most part, though obviously exceptions apply).

The flight thing is just silly, though, and doesn't deserve much more consideration beyond that. :P

Oh I knew what you meant. I was bored and needed time to kill while I waited for the coffee to brew. It did and I had some, and a bagel. Then I forgot I had posted in this thread until this point in which I'm sitting here waiting for coffee to brew. I would like, at this time to denounce the need for going back to the moon in favor of creating a process that can instantaneously turn a coffee bean into coffee while it's sliding down my throat. That or coffee gummy bears. Really, I'm good either way. So yeah, just me being a caffeine deprived doosh.

Not just flavored. I'm talking some violation of nature that makes coffee bear shaped gummi. I'm not saying we wouldn't get our hair mussed. But I do say no more than ten to twenty million killed, tops. Uh, depending on the breaks.

    TF "Must Haves"?

    [ QUOTE ]
The only must-haves I require on any team I do are the following:

-Commitment towards getting the TF done
-Ample time to see the TF through - if you know you have to leave after X time, make darn sure X is twice the 'average' for the TF just to be on the safe side
-A team-friendly attitude: If you're going to be a snarky, whiny, controlling sod, go find someplace where that crap flies. Only things that fly here are birds, planes, bugs, and the morons I punt into the distance for disrupting the mood.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I agree with all of this except the time thing. If the average time for a particular TF is 3 hours, and we're creeping up on the 6 hour mark I start looking for the exit. It may not even be a time constraint problem. But there is obviously something very wrong at that point. Of course in the interest of disclosure I have to say that I've been on disaster TFs where something has gone terribly wrong, stuck it out, and we managed to finish.

As a general rule though I think at a certain point it's just wise to call it a bust and move on. Sometimes it's not going to happen.

It would also likely really tick off the people that make their inf from in place flipping.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I don't know about that. You *could* buy from WW and then go to the Cimeroran and turn a nice profit. It would all depend on price disparities on either side and it would require a little more travel time between markets, but I think profits would still abound. Anywhere there's a market, money can be made by those with a little effort and know-how.

    [/ QUOTE ]

In WoW I "flipped" vendor junk for big profits on the AH. Buy stuff for a couple of silver, jog to the AH and sell it for a couple gold.

A marketplace will always be rife with opportunity for crafty players. The only way to "protect the little guy" and cheese off those mean, nasty eeebil manipulators is to shut them down entirely and only have stores.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Let me guess. First Aid Books from Stromgarde before they changed all the elite mobs to normals? I used to fill up my bags with those things and sell them for 3 to 4 gold a piece. It's like Blizzard wanted us to do it. Putting level 38-41 Elites near a vendor selling stuff a level 20 or so would need.

lol, Ive got a build for about 90% recharge but if u want it to be affordable you'll have to wait a bit for me to think that one up....

    [/ QUOTE ]

Go ahead and post it. I can afford it most likely, I'm just going to whine about it.
  21. Boy howdy is that nice build. I'm afraid it's medical experiments for the kids to afford it though.
  22. Anyone have any slotting suggestions for a SS/Fire Brute? I have one I came up, but it seems rather crappy on the mitigation and global recharge. I suppose I'll have to settle for one or the other. I'm fine with that though. I would appreciate sample builds if anyone cares to post one. The only requirement I have is not to take Hasten. Although I'm not really married to that stipulation. As far as Patron Pools, as long as the Immob is solid I couldn't care which one I use. Thanks.
  23. So over the last few days I've had four purples drop. One Apocalypse Rech/Acc and three Ragnarok Rech/Acc. Two of the Rags dropped in one day. Of course I happily sold them, but what are the chances that all four would be Rech/Acc? Does this particular type of recipe have a higher chance of dropping? And where all the Hecatombs be at?
  24. I just have to add that going for a few typed defense caps can really bring the entertainment. Standing in an Ignite patch and seeing;

    Dodged
    Dodged
    Dodged
    Dodged

float over your character is damn funny.

You'll be better off if you suggest to people that you either get protection buffs, or invite a primary brute so you can be the secondary brute. Unfortunately, /elec in the mid ranges is brutal.... for you, not the enemies.

    [/ QUOTE ]

On my SS/ELA Brute the mid range wasn't bad at all. It was hitting the 40s and the ton of Arachnos missions and all that toxic damage. Such a huge gaping hole for set to have when you consider how ofter toxic is faced in the 40s on redside.
