Also, if you did the old Posi when you were level 10, you'd get to the mission in Boomtown that you probably couldn't do because you had to be level 12 to get into Boomtown.

Quote:I think you can also use /leaveteamIt is a bit un-intuitive, especially for a new player, but if you click the "Team" tab on top of your chat window you will get the button to quit the task force. (I'm not certain of the exact wording, but I am pretty sure it is close to that.)
Extra reward? Not really. Something of a story easter-egg. Nothing important, or needed for this arc.
Mechanically, there is nothing wrong with just letting the timer run out.
There are a couple of story easter eggs getting out in time. If you get to the real exit very fast (hero side), you can witness a conversation that adds some to the story. I think on villain side, if you get to the exit fast enough, there's a chest you can click on for some added info. -
Quote:Funny you should say that... I just did a mission where I couldn't find the last rescue. It was in First Ward. On an office map I have run thousands of times. One of the smaller rooms has a balcony around with stairs leading down. There's usually a planter of trees in the center at the bottom, along with mobs. Along the balcony, there's a door with stairs that go up to a single room. In 7 years of playing, there has never been anything in that room upstairs. Lo, that's where my last rescue was located.I don't mean this as a criticism, but that kind of blind spot is what causes so many people to miss clues and hostages in Oranbegan maps. Having run the "Rescue 21 Mystics from Oranbega" mission more times than I can count, I've developer a habit of looking at every corner of every room and making sure I've explored every pixel off the map. Yeah, it takes time, but at least it ensures nothing ever gets overlooked.
I heartily recommend this even for ordinary missions. Sometimes the most obvious things can be easy to miss.
The maps have become very formulaic. As players, many of us have become complacent and don't check things because we "know" what's there/not there. I'm hoping this is a sign of the dev's mixing things up a little. -
Quote:That's one of the main problems I have/had with the iTrials. Where it's even worse with all the effects going off - Keyes and the final battle in Underground are the worst offenders.
I'm finding that while there ARE instructions, they show up in captions that appear when I'm fighting so I can't read them. Here's a pro-tip, guys: Caption boxes ARE NOT a form of voice over. They're not a source of information I can absorb into my brain without taking time away from what I'm doing, and when I'm fighting for my life, I can't do that. Don't treat caption boxes like you're putting voice overs that take no extra attention to listen to.
In fact, when giving instructions, put them in clues, if possible. Just short, simple clues of a single sentence across two lines of text. I don't need to sitcom levels of conversational discourse because I CANNOT READ FAST ENOUGH.
After the first few runs of an iTrial, I'll figure out what the 'clues' are and will be able to just see the flash and kinda know what the clue was/is for that part of the battle. -
What an awesome trailer. I linked it to both my Facebook and Google+ accounts!

You know, I think *I* am going to go Free2Play also, because I, too, love this game. However, everytime *they* run a special event, I am off doing something else and can't attend.
I swear the dev's look at my calendar and plan their stuff accordingly. So, I am going to show them I am mad. I am going free2play, they're not going to get any more of my money and I am going to enjoy the game less. Because they are mean devs making me enjoy the game less. And when I enjoy the game less, everyone else should too.
This is not a rant, mind you. I'm just tired of spending about 50 cents a day and not getting the full experience because they run things when I can't make it. Next they're going to start doing things on the test server, which I haven't downloaded... wait? They already do things on the test server? Oh man, I am SO going Free2Play now!

Quote:I think it is worth paying for... I remember when both John Saul and Stephen King came out with small "Serial Stories." They were each a 5-book series and each book was about 100 pages for $4 - $5. They were stand alone stories in their own right, but fed to a larger over all story.Again, this isn't being SOLD as a new low level arc for lvl 20. This is PREMIUM content. This should be worth paying for. This should not be less technically sophisticated than an AE arc.
I bought each book and read them once and enjoyed them.
I relate the signature story arc to these "serial story" books. The only difference is I can play these arcs several times on different characters and get something from them each time. I can also play the arc on all new characters I create and they will get the rewards as well. The arcs are playable in solo or team and red or blue side.
IMHO.... If you're only looking to play the arc once and then be done with it, then no, it's probably not worth the money. If you're looking at the fact you now have added permenant content to your game play, then it's worth the money. -
For those of you who are complaining that your level 50 toon is built to optimal at 50 only, how about using the second build feature and creating a build that is optimal when exempt at any level.
You don't always have to min/max at every level you play. You might want to exemp down to do other TF's/SF's and being built for 50 might be a problem then too. -
Quote:Okay... that's what it must have been..However, it would appear if you let the lava defeat that last mob you get nothing in the way of temp powers. I've /bug'd it but just FYI.
Also, playing a 50, I have almost all my slots filled in the 3 active trays... if these powers drop into empty slots, then I won't get them on most of my characters. Something else I'll need to check. -
To those of you who DID do the redside arc, what did you have todoto acquire Synapse's powers?
-
okay.. I just did the villain side solo... as a squishy corruptor.
Died twice during the get 3 obelisk missions as the spawns were too much.
Died twice during the final mission as I couldn't beat Lemkin... then I figured the only way to fight someone who can only speed run is by kiting him. So I defeat him mostly by flying and having him run around in the lava... BUT.. I did finally beat him on land.. I think.
However, I lost the body and I had no idea how to get synapse's powers, so I had no choice but to finish the mission without his powers. I couldn't remember if I needed to stand next to Lemkin or the obelisk or Synapse's body to acquire Synapse's powers.. but nothing seemed to work, so I missed out on the fun.. or if the powers automatically transferred to me, I couldn't find any power icons in either the tray or power list.
I'll try it with another toon that's not so squishy. -
Quote:THIS!!! 1000x THIS!!! I don't understand the need for the Enter Mission button. For the tutorial, yeah.. you can enter or read the comic book... but on a TF or mission arc? Nah..Have run through heroside twice. Thoughts:
1. DUMP the blasted "Enter mission" button. Really. I KNOW I'm entering a mission. That's why I clicked on the mission door. I didn't notice it at first and thought "Damn, that's a long load...."
Other than that, LOVED the arcHave to try redside, tonight.

I use them because they're free... but there are times I forget I have them slotted and wonder why my holds are causing knockdown.

Quote:Correction: A vast majority of the people who took the time to post in your thread. That's a big difference. I play on Victory and when I am in Preatoria, I always see other players there. Granted, not as many in primal, but there are people who play in Preatoria. Finally, if you read the thread you will see a vast majority did not care too much for GR.
Your statement above makes it sound like GR is almost universally hated and it's not. -
Quote:Love the last two!
No, Just No - Any Shadow Shard TF
And now I share with you the most inside joke-iest of all lingo:
-4 - First person who dies on any trial/TF gets this term of endearment. Named after an un-alpha slotted scrapper who joined us for a Tin Mage who managed to outlive everyone. -
Defogger - the person who HAS TO uncover EVERY INCH of the mission map. (And usually doesn't have the reveal temp power)
-
I *definitely* want this! We actually had a group of elementary school age heros who formed the After School Super Secret Super Hero Society. This cape would have been perfect for all of the members!

* Fusionette: "Hello, OnStar? I did it AGAIN!"
You, sir, owe me a new monitor.
For some reason, I thought Synapse was going to end with "and I never leave home without it..." -
I guess I am one of the few that really enjoys Preatoria. I believe that about 80% of my new characters have started in Preatoria. Although with the new stuff in Freedom, that balance will shift.
Is it perfect? No. Some enemies are quite difficult - not unlike the Vahz in low level Primal earth - and some times the missions are ambush heavy. BUT... the writing is amazing. I really enjoy how almost everyone you meet is a rotten individual with their own agenda. IMHO, Preatoria is a cesspool of evil. Not the tie-the-girl-to-the-railroad-tracks villany of Rogue Isles, but true psychogically warped and morally deficient evil. (Calvin Scott is probably the creepiest and nastiest of the lot.) I think it's really cool how contacts will disappear because they're DEAD....
Preatoria makes me play with a different mindset. Beta Freedom has really shown me this fact. When I play in Preatoria, I have no qualms about "killing" npcs. However, when I have been doing some of the new stuff in beta, I actually have a rough time when the decision is to explicitly hurt/kill an NPC. I can't do it... I always choose the option that causes the least pain. (Which makes it tough for me to choose villany in the tutorial - even though I like redside better.) I like the fact that Preatoria makes me play differently.
I do wish that mayhem's would be added to Ouro because I do miss thoses playing Preatoria. -

Quote:You just don't get it... and, apparently, you never will. We don't OWN THE CONTENT... it is not ours to play with when we want. This is not a boxed game where you have all the data on disk and you have paid for the program.Yes, but then why charge for the content as an ownership fee at all?
Why can we not use the product offline when it costs them nothing for that so long as we pay for the content to cover the cost of the content.
We pay for the ability to access THEIR PROPRIETARY CONTENT and servers. We can not use it offline because it is not ours to use. Even the characters that you create are not yours. They are owned by NCSoft. That is in the EULA. You are paying for the ability access them.
And you are paying for it at about 50 cents a day... that's less than 3 cents an hour to use their servers and their programs. If you don't want to pay, then you shouldn't gripe about what they want to give you access to for free. -
I could get behind that too. They could extend it to the other tabs too..

Quote:Well, there's a couple of facts that you're missing... While I was paying for my subscription, they also developed City of Villains, Going Rogue and all the booster packs. Yet, I had to pay for them when they were released if I wanted them immediately. If I had waited a year or two, I would have had CoV for free. You can call me wrong but that doesn't make it true.
This is a mmo, currently our subs are their sole source of income. Anything they do while on the clock is paid for by our subs.
It's the same with certain powersets. I can "pay" for them immediately with the free points I am getting every month.. or if I don't have enough points, I have two options.. buy more points (the way I got the powers and content for Villains/GR/Boosters) or wait until I have enough monthly points. (The way I could have gotten Villains had I chose to wait)
When CoH:F launches we will be given a huge boost of Paragon Points. That will allow us to buy a bunch of stuff.. We know Beam Rifle is for the launch of I21, but if I remember correctly Street Justice isn't for launch. I wouldn't be surprised if Street Justice is set for a month later... giving you 1 more month of Paragon Points.
Right now, Powersets are 800 points, but it has been stated on several occasions that current pricing in the Paragon Store is not set in stone. Some items may be at higher prices right now because it's always easier to lower the price of something than raise it. We do not know for sure that powersets are going to cost 2 months worth of points.
