Welcome to Paragon!
I'd have to agree, PvP is not the strong suit for CoH/V. There are *other* games which have that as a more solid focus. PM me for more info if you like.
Otherwise, I'd agree with the suggestion for Freedom. Lots of people on around the clock. -

Not the point of the topic, but I did'nt know you ran the Heraclea fan club. But to answer your question;
Caitif: A cowardly and despicable person. If you need some references; http://www.thefreedictionary.com/caitiff
http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/caitiff
Since I'am neither cowardly nor despicable by definition, it was merely used as an attempt at berrating me. The classic "big words that mean bad things" angle. Its been used countless times. That should answer your original question, now can we discuss the topic or shall we digress even more?

Sorry Lacrymosa, I wasn't being clear - I wasn't trying to take part in a judgement, from an academic interest, i was curious if you had an alternate meaning of the word, it being as archaic as it is. That's all -
Broken Prey mentioned something about BABs saying the alternates are all punches, so...
-
I like the carrot on the stick approach. You get the temporary buff, you are directed at content, and it rewards action
-
Hopefully none of this crap:
"You cannot run another search at this time." -

Your using caitiff incorrectly....see what happens when we try to be funny...
No man is so much a fool as not to have wit enough sometimes to be a knave; nor any so cunning a knave as not to have the weakness sometimes to play the fool.

What an interesting thread.
For the sake of clarity, Heraclea's use of caitiff is entirely appropriate. As an adjective, the word caitiff means 'base' or 'despicable'. I.e., despicable knave.
What did you think it meant? -
Some good advice in here. I tanked LR once on my Ice tanker. With a couple of close calls in health dipping, I never died (I'd guess I had to tank him for 20-30 minutes, possibly less). I was already self-capped at 45% S/L/E/N without EA.
IIRC my support was a /Kin, and 2 /Empathy and a quite a few purples (and hibernate). Would have loved a bubbler.
The OP did well for a 40 minute tango with the big bad.
Glad to see some more feedback about the buffages to LR, I was wondering. -
Another vote for Faultline arcs.
For those who miss Fusionette, I'll also recommend the Fusionette Task Force in AE :P Great for low levels, too. -
Never seen that myself. Some people have .gifs that cycle on a timer, though.
-
For those willing to learn, teach.
For those who are unwilling, /ignore.
If you don't wish to be bothered, don't PUG. There have been awful teams from day one.
Only difference now is the population boost brought more players in. Some lousy, some good. I've run into newbies in AE who break the stereotype and wanted to know and do more than AE could provide.
Not every noob who gets sucked into AE stays there. Of late, with my new scrapper, I've been able to form teams for regular missions because of the noobies who are seeking for the real game and want more. -
I find photobucket to be a very good hosting site
-
Excellent suggestion about Oroboros and relearning a toon. There are a few old characters I've dusted off that I should have used that approach on to reaquaint myself with them.
-
I liken this to heroic bloodshed, where both hero and villain perish together, i.e., Arthur and Modred
-
Gee Uni, I may have to give that combo a shot myself

- Avoid AE farms. This may sound odd, since AE will rocket you up levels on a good farm team, but if you've never earned a 50 the regular way, you'll miss out. Having a first 50 which you put some effort and time into IMO is more satisfactory. Especially when you look at your badge listAE does have some fantastic story-missions, though, and I would recommend those (like the Fusionette Task Force).

... also, given AE farms are typically one of 3-4 different opponents being all you ever see 1-50, you really miss out on learning what 98% of the rest of the game can do to you... I definitely ran into a pug rikti group one day where the blaster (36) said, "I can't do anything! WHAT?! Why can't I do anything? What does "held" mean?!?!"
Heheh.

Also, all of the mobile pets should have no clipping at all. Yes, I can resummon FFG. No, I dont like doing it on my MM every 30-60 seconds on some maps (arachnos labs, exc). Its a QoL issue.
-
TB needs to be a mobile pet that buffs regen. Immobile it has almost no use outside long fights. In most teams/TFs it has little use in my experience.
Trip Mine needs to slot for interrupt time.
Time Bomb needs to become Gun Drone.
Web Grenade needs..something. Unlike most immobs, it does no damage. Increased range, duration, or a % chance for +1 magnitude would be nice to offset the lack of damage. -
Gravity is (apparantly) a love it or hate it set. It offers some more damage at the expense of a little control, until you get your pet (who adds control). Personally, I like Gravity.
If you want more AoE controls you can go for Plant/. Roots is a nice-damaging AoE immob which you can add after you subdue mobs with Seeds of Confusion. Carrion Creepers is the other bid draw to the set. I combine Plant with Rad on my 50 troller, but I'm sure Empathy would be just as nice. Personally, I don't like watching health bars, so I don't do Empathy (or Pain) much.
To be honest, play each to level 20, get a feel for the sets. If you have the patience, take each to 32, and then ditch the one you like least. -
It took me almost 5 years to get 2 level 50s. Since then I have 2 more 50s. I found the teens and the mid 40s are the rough spots. Teens because your hero (or villain) hasn't yet come into their own (SOs, full attack chains/defenses), and 40s because you have most of the powers you want, and the desire to grind out the xp wanes a bit.
My advice:
- resist the impulse to reroll. Alts are great, but I was always caught up in the 'next best thing' for a few years.
- Team, team, team. Teams get better xp than solo for most players/builds, and you'll quicker and with more fun, especially if you get a regular group. However, I've had fun with PUGs, too, especially when you get some fun chat going
- Make sure you have a costume you love. Eye candy is important. I've left solidly-build toons to flounder because I could never get a look to 'click'. But when I did, I was attracted to playing them again.
- Make sure to do Task Forces. They are often good for several levels of xp, and will let you also earn some great badges/accolades.

Scrappers do not need buffs.

I rolled a Superstrength/Forcefield blaster the other day. It was strong. And pretty.

Time bomb should be replaced with Gun Drone >_>
