*ahem*
Im not much into the pvp aspect of the game as it dosent sit too well with me so i cannot comment really on that, as for powerful builds there is a listing of guides attched to this forum that has a list of builds as well as a few posts on "Blaster pwnage" Personally i like Archery/Devices but Im a solo nut, as far as i know its not the mosr damaging set by far, however you have to work at getting killed with it in PvE and i solo most missions with ease.
Pinnacle has decent PvP at times. Sometimes it's dead, other times it's jumping. (I play on Pinnacle almost exclusively, so it's the only server I have firsthand experience with)
Freedom is your best bet for consistent PvP. It doesn't have a larger percentage of PvPers, it just has more players, so more PvPers is kind of a given.
Psi/EM, Sonic/EM, Fire/EM, seeing a trend yet?
Devices can be a good PvP secondary if you build it right.
Psi and Sonic are currently the most powerful primaries, but just about anything can do well if you put the time into it. I would avoid Assault Rifle and Archery for PvP, I've seen a small number that have done well, but in general you have better choices. I have a Sonic/Devices that is somewhat competetive if I'm on my game that day. I also have a Fire/Fire that is kinda fun.
There's a bit of a learning curve with PvP in this game, since a lot of the powers work differently than in PvE, so don't expect to go out there and start owning face right away. You will probably get your buttocks handed to you quite a bit until you get the hang of how it works, but if you're really interested in it stick with it.
Also, try to find a decent PvP SG to join, it will speed up the learning curve quite a bit having people around you can learn from.
Don't take my advice as gospel though, I only PvP for fun when I'm in the mood for it. I suggest you ask in the PvP section of the forums for PvP specific advice.

I don't PVP, so can't offer any useful advice on that.
Here is a mini-guide to Blasting I wrote up so I don't have to repeat myself quite so much. There's my PVE advice.
Welcome to the game!
Mini-guides: Force Field Defenders, Blasters, Market Self-Defense, Frankenslotting.
So you think you're a hero, huh.
@Boltcutter in game.

Hello, I am new to City Of Heroes/Villans & need some info please, I tend to favor the PVP aspect of MMO's & was wondering if there is a specific server that is better for PVP?
Also I would like to know a really good build for a blaster to maxamize damage, so I can kill as fast as I can.
Any Info or other tips anybody could share would be greatly appreciated, thanks so much

if you want to kill things fast in PvP, go psi/, sonic/, with either /energy melee or /devices
if you want to kill things fast in PvE go either fire/ or archery/ with /energy melee or /mental manipulation
Positron's i13 letter: We are trying to make PvP more accessible to new players, while giving experienced PvP'ers the advantage that comes with formulating tactics around the new systems we're putting in place. PvP from now on will be on our priority list. If something isn't working out, we'll be in there tweaking it and making it work, for the entire future of the product, not just Issue 13.

If you have a PvP focus, you picked the wrong game.
Welcome to Paragon!
I'd have to agree, PvP is not the strong suit for CoH/V. There are *other* games which have that as a more solid focus. PM me for more info if you like.
Otherwise, I'd agree with the suggestion for Freedom. Lots of people on around the clock.
53 Bots/FF/Mace Mastermind | 53 NRG/FF/Electricity Defender | 50 Time/Dual Pistols/Soul Defender | 50 Demons/FF/Mace Mastermind | 51 Necro/Dark/Soul Mastermind | 50 Thugs/Time/Mace Mastermind | 50 Ice/Ice/Arctic Tanker | 50 Plant/Rad/Earth Controller | 50 Illusion/Trick Arrow Controller | 50 Gravity/Force Field Controller
Yes, I like Force Fields.

yea, there are also alot of people who have no idea what they are doing and frequent server crashes and lock ups during player events. if you can stand to do RP, go to virtue otherwise i would suggest a server that still has a somewhat large population but not as one as noob filled and large as freedumb. justice and champion come to mind. I would suggest triumph (which is where i play) but you have to lose your pants :/ triumph also has the best PvP (had the top PvP SG for a while)

Honestly, the noobs on Freedom are not that abundant, and the ones you come across, you simply put on your ignore list. I would suggest Freedom simply because there's always action going on in the zones and you can usually find some people to do arena with.
As for blaster builds, Sonic/EM, Psi/EM, and maybe Fire/EM, although, Sonic/EM and Psi/EM are generally more potent than Fire/EM's.
/dev is alright, but it's mainly because of Webnade, and in taking /dev you'll be sacrificing a lot of damage and Build Up for utility. Also, in my opinion, to get the most out /dev, you should be running Hover and Flight.
If you're looking to move into Freedom, look me up at @Private White, and I might be able to help you out with some PvP and builds.
