The devs posted about how the alternate animations are intended for those who was a character who punches and kicks.

I'm wondering if we will be able to make a character that just punches?
In other words...will all the kick animations get alternate punch animations?

They are. Alternate animations are available for Storm Kick (Gut Punch), Cobra Strike, CAK, and Eagles Claws IIRC from what I saw at Comic Con.

Assassin's Blow is the most hilarious power name in the game. So many levels.

MA is going to be FOTM in I16 with the new animations. The replayability of the set will be very high, too (make a puncher, a kicker and a punch-kicker).

The thing is how customizable will MA really be?

Is it going to be as simple as going from the old Storm Kick animation...or is it going to allow you to change attacks like eagles talon into a cone. Because honestly MA's animations isn't what made me not like the set...it was the endurance used to damage done that really sucked about MA. Eagles claw (use to not sure now) cost just about as much as headsplitter without the benefit of a cone.

BABs (and Castle iirc) have all stated that the customizations will do nothing to the game numbers of the powers. The animations will simply be a cosmetic change.

So even activation time won't change? AND there won't be any gaps between the power activations that we used to have for some powers?

That's what we've been led to believe by BABs, and I'm reasonably sure we can trust him especially since he and Castle were rather vehement about the power/color customization having no effect upon game mechanics other than cosmetics.

This change to Martial Arts makes me want the set for Brutes that much more.

[/ QUOTE ]true, though if the animations are like the colorizations, and tied to costumes, you could theoretically make identical copies of your character and with /cc binds, you could mix up your combos pretty well. I'm quite excited for it, and hope this is only the beginning of new animations for martial arts, Maybe way down the road, adding open handed strikes(think pai chan from virtua fighter, or ling xiaoyu from tekken) and additional kicks, such as from muai thai or tight, chambered tae kwon do kicks, could help round out a character.

Want MA for brutes so bad now....anywho, very excited about this. I didn't really care much about changing colors of powers so I'm glad they are also doing alternate animations for guys like me to get excited over. Good stuff.
