Well I was gonna ask if there was some reason this badge wasn't awarding, but apparently "da devs hate meh" again, so it's off to file a bug report.
*sigh* -
Energy Melee for Scrappers is pretty much the only thing I want to see in the future of this game that hasn't been announced yet.
Going Rogue stuff? Awesome. Power customization and more proliferation? Fantastic.
But for the love of god, please do whatever it takes to get Energy Melee into the Scrappers' hands! They're the only AT that gets melee attacks that doesn't have it; Tankers, Blasters, Brutes, Stalkers, and Dominators all have Energy Melee attacks.
Lower the damage, take out the stun component... I don't care. It's the only thing that fits thematically for a character I've been wanting to build since the game came out. -
I had an enemy in one of my arcs called a Nega Devil.
It was a play in combining Negative and Devil, since "tive" and "dev" sound so similar.
I got several compaints that I was being racist, so I finally got sick of arguing and changed it to Negative Devil.
Come on, people... even if I was trying to be racist, it's spelled with an i and two g's! -

The Praetorian Name thing is interesting. Let's look at some examples:
Statesman == Tyrant
Back Alley Brawler == Marauder
Positron == Anti-Matter
Mynx == Bobcat
So, in general, the Praetorian Name of a character is a reflection of their current name, but with a more...aggressive, sinister twist.
Given that:
Castle == Checkmate
[/ QUOTE ]
Dammit, I was using Black Rook in the MA arc I've been working on.
The reason I'm angry is because I think Checkmate sounds more awesome, but it also sounds like a Mastermind name... so now I have to rethink his powers. -
Given the option of using a sheath, scabbard, or other visible storage method for a weapon, I'd STILL choose Hammerspace.
I originally designed my main character in late 1998, and he had his katana enchanted so he could summon it out of thin air by calling its name. Of course, he retired it eventually because he ended up being able to channel so much energy that the sword couldn't hold up to the strain... but since they have yet to allow Energy Melee Scrappers, I'm going to maintain that they need to keep Hammerspace as an option no matter what they do for weapon storage in the future. -
Anyone entering the mission will automagically be bumped up to the lowest possible level.
If your mission is set for levels 1-50, then there will be no auto SK... but if you're set for 40-50, then anyone below 40 will be bumped up to that threshold. -
You'll end up with people posting the arcs with hero characters that have deep pockets, then completing them with villain characters, all as a convoluted way to transfer inf between sides. Even if you can't reward yourself, you'd be able to have a friend or alternate account earn the reward and trade it back to you.

None yet, and likely to stay that way until probably right before Going Rogue's closed beta starts.

Out of curiosity. What is something you would deem hard to do?

Trying to make a majority of you guys happy.

I <3 BABs... his honesty is refreshing. -
I tend to feel the need to find every unlockable in every game I play, until another game comes and distracts me from it. I'm the same way in CoH as I am with Xbox 360 games and their (useless) Achievements. Generally, I will play an Xbox game to death, until a new game comes out and I begin the process anew. Once I've been removed from the need to get all Achievements on a certain game, I rarely go back to hunting them on that game.
Since CoH is the only MMO I'm enrolled in (and it'll stay that way at least until DC Universe Online is released--not a fan of what I've seen from Champs so far) and that they update it fairly frequently, I'm drawn back to it regularly.
I don't have to get every badge on every character, but I do feel a compulsion to earn them all on both my main hero and main villain. Every badge earned on an alt is just a nice little bonus. -
I like the Ulterior set, a lot. I threw together a very respectable-looking hero in a few minutes using the set's top and bottoms on tights.
The Vines details need to have more contrast. They're almost invisible unless you make the vines a very bright color with a very dark color for the background.
Also, the freckled girl face is really cute! (... Unless you make her as pale as possible... then it looks like she's got the measles.)

Although I could be totally wrong.

Ockham's Razor. As Mental_Giant stated, this path would require them to create 2 Paragon Cities, 2 Rogue Isles, and a Praetorian world, which would separate the playerbase into 5 separate cities. We've already got people complaining they can't find a team on some servers, and you want to drop the availability of teams per side by an additional 60%?
It'll be easier for everyone involved, developer and player alike, if they use the same instances of the cities for the regular and rogue characters. "The simplest solution is usually the best." -

Wow... beaten to the punch and with links proving the stuff I wasn't 100% sure on. Good job guys.
[ QUOTE ]
Also, if the AV in question is a custom critter AV, if the team leader is set to difficulty 1 it will always be an Elite Boss, regardless of team size.
[/ QUOTE ]
(Fixed for assumed typo.)
I also think that custom AVs will always be downgraded to EBs when you're soloing, even on difficulty 5... though I may just be remembering poorly. -
I don't assume that they'll be "removed," but I wouldn't be terribly surprised if they were hidden.
Can my hero run around in the Rogue Isles displaying his Devilfish (defeat Lusca) badge? Can my villain run around Paragon displaying the Surging (defeat Deathsurge) badge? Or will they be hidden when you're not a member of the appropriate faction?
Again, I remain optimistic that we'll have the opportunity to have characters with over 1000 badges at a time once the expansion goes live, but as long as side-switching doesn't remove any of your current badges (and I agree with MG that it probably won't), I'll be hopping a ferry to the Rogue Isles to get another few hundred badges. -

So with this Rogue Expansion set, will we be able to collect both villain and hero badges?
[/ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
For the first time, Hero characters can become Villains and vice versa, enabling Heroes to cross over to the Rogue Isles and Villains to experience Paragon City.
[/ QUOTE ]
It's nonsensical to assume that characters can cross over and "experience" the other side of the game without getting badges.
[/ QUOTE ]
I think he really meant to phrase the question as something like, "If we change sides, can we keep our old badges as well as getting the new ones" or "can we have both hero and villain badges on our character at the same time?"
The answer to which, unfortunately, is that we don't know yet. I remain hopeful. -

Edit: the damage badges should also work off TOTAL HPs, not BASE.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm not normally one to write a post simply to simply to say "This," but...
This.
(Actually, it should count every red number that goes over your head, regardless of how many total HP your character has.) -
I'd love to get in, but a) I'm unavailable for the rest of the week, and b) the Stalker spot has already been taken.
If you plan on making this a semi-regular thing, I'm definitely interested. -

All in all you can't just match arch-types by the powers they have but there play style.
[/ QUOTE ]
That still doesn't make any sence because the play styal of a Stalker is NOTHING like a Blaster. Blasters stand back and attack from a distance. Stalkers get right up close, assassin strike, run away till hide comes back and do it again.
[/ QUOTE ]
Blaster: burst damage AT, squishy
Stalker: burst damage AT, (slightly less) squishy
They sound pretty similar to me.
Rial, the problem is, you're playing your Stalker like a Scrapper. They have their own ebb and flow that you need to get used to. It's entirely possible that you're not wired for that style of play; I, for one, can't play Blasters, because I'm compelled to move in and punch bad guys instead of hanging back and pegging them from a distance.
I actually prefer Stalkers to Brutes because I always have Endurance issues on Brutes, much like you were claiming to have with Tanks (another class I don't like to play). The exception is my Energy Aura Brute... a powerset that others pan as being one of the worst in the game. I LOVE that character.
So hopefully, you see what I'm saying: the individual player's style of gaming affects which ATs he or she prefers. Just because you don't like to play Stalkers doesn't mean they suck.
EDIT: Somehow I missed Cuppa_Tea's post about comparing ATs by the roles they play, not by the powers they have. This is what I was intending to show with the opening lines. -
Happy birthday, dude who sells 45-50 SOs in Peregrine!

Reminds me of when the game first launched and I took every available attack from Katana, plus Air Superiority, Hover, Fly, Hasten and Flurry (lulz), and only took the mandatory first power from Super Reflexes.
Wow I was a n00b then. It was my first MMO, so I had no concept of "MP," "mana" or whatever you want to call it that didn't come from console RPGs. And mind you, the respec trials weren't activated at the game's launch and didn't come out until Issue 1 if memory serves. I shelved the character at level 18 until that date and started working on a Dark/Regen Scrapper that I built a lot smarter... though I still took Teleport Foe (lololz) with him.
No wonder it took me 35 months to hit 50 with that character.
Moral of the Story
If you're coming to the game for the first time in its five year life thus far, it's okay to be a n00b. It's not okay to disregard the advice of those of us who have already been there. It benefits us just as much as it does you to have you molded into a competent player and teammate as soon as possible. -
60 months here, awarded on May 1st.
Should have been April 28th, but I lost a day from an expired credit card two years ago, and for some reason they pushed me back two extra days for this badge from earning the previous one.
The ride's been a little bumpy the last 9 months, but the game is still so totally worth it. -

to me, end-game should be pvp based around the heroes vs the villains. Some sort of area control added to it for purpose and some fancy titles and temp. abilities to those who win.
[/ QUOTE ]
I respect your opinion, but disagree. If I wanted to PVP, I'd play a shooter (like Team Fortress 2, which I have been known to enjoy on occassion), where every class/weapon is balanced and it relies on the skill of the player, not how much time you're willing to grind for loot.
You go have all the fun you want in RV, though. I promise not to bug you there.
[/ QUOTE ]
With enough people on each side; how could it not be balanced?
What's the point of having heroes and villains if they aren't going to fight it out over something important.
Seriously, what is batman without the joker? Superman without lex? The list goes on...
[/ QUOTE ]
No one would read a comic book if the entire Justice League suddenly just jumped on Lex Luthor while he was walking down the street and beat him into a greasy smudge on the pavement before calling him a "nub" and telling him to "lrn 2 play".
I'm perfectly happy joining a team of 7 other heroes against Lord Recluse, The Honoree, or Romulus Augustus without the politics of PVP getting involved.
Again, I respect that you want PVP, but don't force me into it. I'm more interested in the game's storyline than flexing my e-peen against people with purpled-out builds like the OP. -

What would really be NOT cool is if we end up with 2 powersets the community has been begging for for ages being available ONLY through a paid expansion :/
[/ QUOTE ]
I think the sets will be free... access to the new areas and side switching will be in the box. The new AT (I'm guessing "Spy" not Pistol or Demon Epics), if there is one, may also be box only.
[/ QUOTE ]
I agree with MG here. My gut tells me that Blasters and Corruptors (and maybe even Defenders) will get Dual Pistols and Masterminds will get Demon Summoning just for being subscribed, whether they purchase the expansion or not. I also think that there will be some Quality of Life updates that will be given to every player (such as Power Customization), just for subscribing.
But all the stuff involving Praetoria and side-switching will be accessible only to those who purchase the expansion. -
