It likely has to do with the formatting of your email client, what with adding all those ">" brackets in. The reason they have you put your reply in that specific section is that an unmanned email bot receives your reply, parses it, and sticks your reply into their database for a human tech to review. This limits the amount of spam emails and other non-issues they have to deal with. (I assume this is what's happening, as I've developed a similar application to receive emailed comments for a side project my boss had me do a few years back.)

FYI, It's also against the forum rules to post any direct communication from the support team without their express up-front permission.
  2. This cap is good for defense. Plus, it's got spikes, so you could do some damage with it, too.

    ... Sorry, couldn't resist. >_>
  3. The original Prima strategy guide had a little bit of info on it. I'll see if I can't dig that puppy up when I get home from work this afternoon.

Edit: Got the info posted for you below!
  4. I'm hoping your girlfriend got you that Bender figure, otherwise she might feel like you didn't appreciate her gift...

Not true. There are no monsters (or equivalents) in Steel Canyon, Skyway City, Faultline, Talos Island, Brickstown or Founder's Falls. Steel and Skyway do have zone events (fires and troll raves, as you mentioned), and Talos shares the Ghost Ship with Indy Port, but there are neither zone events nor monsters in Faultline, Bricks or Founder's. Redside doesn't have any monsters or zone events in St. Martial.

Also, Peregrine Island doesn't have any sort of event-type monster, but they do have "Monster Island" off to the northwest of Portal Court. I don't count that personally, since they're off on their own island and never attack the city.

(Note that Trial Zones, such as Terra Volta and Eden, are not supposed to have zone monsters by design.)

Someone posted a YouTube link to a clip from the show in the Comic section a few months ago. Apparently there was an episode with Wil Wheaton playing some sort of collectible card game, and someone at the competition was wearing a shirt with a CoH logo.

(Personally, I've only ever watched one episode of The Big Bang Theory, at my mother's request. After a moment that she found particularly funny, she asked why I wasn't laughing, to which I replied, "Mom, my friends and I had that exact same conversation last week," and I wasn't lying. I already live an awkward, nerdy life; I have no reason to watch others get laughed at for it. )

I see web advertisements pretty often. Prior to Issue 14 and the release of the CoH Architect Edition box, I'd see them maybe once every couple months. Now I see them at least once every few days as ad banners on various webcomics.

It's been a while since I've really read any comic books, but I saw plenty of adds for City of Villains in those shortly after that was released as well.

As far as TV advertisements go, though, name one MMO other than World of Warcraft (or one owned by a TV network, like Cartoon Network's Fusion Fall or SyFy's 9 Dragons) that you've seen a commercial for. I've never seen one for Everquest (1 or 2), Star Wars Galaxies, Warhammer or Aion. I certainly haven't seen any commercials for Champions Online.

Why does everyone think that a TV commercial is suddenly going to double the number of subscribers? Seriously, who watches TV anymore and doesn't fast-forward past the commercials on their DVR?
  8. Well, they DID just pull the test servers down at the end of last week to do hardware upgrades...

    GR bit.

I think it's incredibly likely we'll be getting new skins for the standard office and lab maps (given the overly shiny facade of Praetoria), and quite possibly new skins for the caves/Council caves as they're occupied by the Resistance.

As far as all new map types (not reskins of the existing stuff), I'm not sure... but I'd really like to see some more outdoor wooded areas that aren't the Hydra dimension, that would then hopefully propagate to the Mission Architect so I could publish some ideas that have been floating in my head for a while. Since Praetoria is largely overrun by the Devouring Earth, I think this type of map is at least possible.

I also have to say, I agree that Paragon City and the Rogue Isles should get one or two new map types as well. I'll be crossing my fingers on that with you.

As far as anything confirmed by any developers though, there is still very little information about what exactly is included in Going Rogue. Your guess is as good as anybody's, really.
  10. We managed to scrounge 11 people together. I think 6 or 7 of them were Corruptors, and 3 or 4 were Brutes. I brought a Stalker, because everything's more fun with stabbities.

We really gave Lord Winter a sound beating. Even with a couple event noobs, several lackeys and a slow-ish start, we still managed to win with about 3 minutes left on the clock and no deaths (that I saw).

Thanks to Zamuel and all other board readers who joined!
  11. Not that I'm king of the builds or anything, but if you're not going to take any of Finduilas' other points to heart, I'd at least replace the LotG Def/End/Rech enhancements (in Kinetic Shield, Power Shield, Energy Cloak and Weave) with straight up LotG Defense enhancements.

This'll make each of the aforementioned powers about 10% more effective and only cost 0.13 more endurance per second. And once you get a bit of recharge into Energy Drain, you'll pretty much never have to worry about endurance again.

  13. But Brutes are just red-side Tanks!

    ... Wait, nevermind, that's Masterminds.
  14. Signed and a half. I always wondered why they didn't do this to begin with.
  15. Yeah, I know there were a lot of runs planned the weekend immediately following Christmas, but I was unfortunately out of town... in a cabin in the mountains... with no internet...
  16. And yet, it's still just as much fun to smash them as ever.

    Expand Oro exits

Back when they were in testing Ouroboros in beta, you could start the old Calvin Scott TF, but after every mission it would try to send you back to where he used to stand in Indy Port. Since he's not actually there anymore, this obviously caused problems.

I never got to experience the TF when it was in the game because I didn't have any characters at a high enough level for it. I'd certainly be interested in giving it a shot if they found a way to bring it back via Ouroboros.

If said animated tail pack included ponytails (as in, those that go in your hair), I'd pay cash-munniez for it too. My character is supposed to have a rattail, and it's always been a little strange with him using the hair-pulled-back-in-a-ponytail hair style.

He also doesn't wear a cape, so the one animated costume piece limit wouldn't get in the way of me having awesomely bad flowing 80's hair.
  19. Can't possibly be worse than Spider-Man 3.

Unless they cast Michael Cera (or one of his clones, like Jesse Eisenberg) as Peter Parker. Then I will engage in copious amounts of indisciminate violence.
  20. As most of you know, the 2009 Winter Event ends in approximately 27.5 hours, at 11:59 PM Eastern on January 12, 2010.

As many of you know, it has sucked getting the Lord Winter raid badge on the Rogue Isles side of things. Teams have been small on the few attempts where we have been able to get people together, and they've been populated largely by players under level 30.

As few of you likely know or care, I have yet to get the badge.

I propose we meet online with our most powerful Villains at approximately 8:00 PM Eastern and whup the snow out of Lord Winter's toucas and show him that Victory server's Villain population is just as much to be feared as those pansy masks over in Paragon. Heck, MORE so. We're awesome, capes are dorks!

The idea is to just replay the event as many times as we can between 8:00 and 9:00 PM (or later, if people want to keep going) so as many people can bring their badge characters to the party as possible.

**For those of you who don't have Villains that you'd like to play, I hear tell that Lord Winter's Realm becomes a co-op zone if Heroes and Villains defeat Winter Lords at roughly the same time. We could also go present hunting in Bloody Bay, Siren's Call, or Warburg to result in a co-op experience.**

Villains should meet in Cap au Diable at around 8:00 PM and bring the characters they feel will bring the most to the experience, preferably high-levelled and well-enhanced ones. Depending on the amount of interest this generates, people should be able to switch characters between runs as new players join.

Remember, if I don't see you there, I'm a-stabbin' ya!

  22. Meh, not too excited, but not disappointed either. More badges are good. And free stuff is free.
  23. They announced the new Vet Rewards today:
    http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showt...03#post2529303

Indeed, the 69 month reward is just the badge and a vet respec. Not terribly thrilled about the 72 month reward either... or rather, it feels like it should have been made available earlier. Oh well, free stuff is free.
  24. The closed beta for Going Rogue has not started yet. As Chill mentioned, the beta is scheduled to begin "in early 2010" (Q1 assumed) with a second-quarter projected release.

If the Going Rogue closed beta is anything like those for CoH and CoV, the test server willnot be up 24/7, and players will be encouraged to perform targetted testing (e.g., "everybody please make a Demon Summoning Mastermind before x date; they will be level bumped for end game testing").

Also, please note that beta testing is where they find and fix bugs. It's not all fun and games, and it is certainly not a finished product. You will experience lag, crashing, glitches, unfinished or broken textures/models, etc. It certainly gives you a chance to see all the new shinies before the general population, but you'd be surprised at how under-polished they are at the start.
