Unless they cast Michael Cera (or one of his clones, like Jesse Eisenberg) as Peter Parker. Then I will engage in copious amounts of indisciminate violence.

Toril: Yeah. As someone who followed the comic, still has an...amazing....collection of them, yet another origin story doesn't inspire a "must see" for me. Really tired of this "reboot" crap.

I guess they figure by 2012 it would have been 10 years since Spidey #1 and no one will remember it...
As far as casting goes, I wouldn't be surprised if they jump on the Twilight bandwagon and cast one of those vampire dudes for the chick factor.

I really, really do not like the whole "go back to high school thing." The themes mentioned in that first article are no different from what the series was already plumbing with Raimi's stuff, anyway.
I have no idea why they need a reboot, anyway. Superman Returns wasn't exactly hard to follow even though it was supposedly after Superman 2 way back when. Just make another Spiderman with different actors... audiences WILL figure it out.

Of course there are differences of opinion on the worth of the first three films.
I thought that the first two were incredible. The third's chief problem, IMHO, was that it tried to pack too many villains/too much story into one movie.
The great thing about Spiderman is all the great narrative to chose from for movie content. Accordingly, the "going back to high school" suggests that the studio may be ignoring all of this potential content for a re-hash of the story already told - and told really well.
Not a good thing - and considerable disincentive for me to shell out the cash to view the film when it comes out.
I've heard they wanted to put him back in high school and give him "real life problems." Now, #1, didn't he have real life problems before? and #2, what the heck does high school have to do with real life problems?
