    Probably nothing, given that he's the North American brand manager.

    Here's to hoping they give you guys a European marketting redname soon.
  2. A couple suggestions for working on a level-up build (one that you'll respec out of later) or a secondary build meant for teaming rather than soloing:

    There are some Power Pool powers that can be a huge help to teaming, such as the Leadership pool's Maneuvers (+Team Defense), Assault (+Team Damage) and Tactics (+Team ToHit), and the Invisibility pool's Grant Invisibility. Grant Invis + Speed Boost will make you VERY popular on teams that want to speed-stealth through missions and long TFs.

    Nobody will every argue with you spamming Siphon Power, which buffs the damage of everyone standing near you by 20% for 30 seconds. Cast that sucker like crazy when on a team!

    Powers like Hot Feet are nice, but as you mentioned, they'll get you killed a lot while you're a lowbie. It's arguably better to pick it up later in your build, once you've got enough power to keep foes locked down for a good amount of time and you can burninate them without fear of retaliation.

    Smoke is next to useless unless you're on a team that is obsessed with speed-stealthing missions. There are a couple procs you can put in it that can make it worthwhile, but then the power causes foes to aggro on you, so again, it's probably not something you'll be interested in during the lower levels.

    Powers that you absolutely want are Flashfire (AoE Stun available at level 12, slotted primarily for recharge until you get to higher levels) and Fire Cages (AoE Immobilize available at level 2), and you want to cast them in that order at the start of a fight. Stun + Immob = Hold.

    Siphon Speed is another power you'll almost certainly want to grab as soon as possible, as it helps to bring your powers up a lot more quickly.

    Man, if only they would implement some way to temporarily de-level your character so you could experience content that you missed or wasn't available when you were at the appropriate level. Perhaps they could even give you a temporary power that would transport you to a special room with some sort of crystal that allowed you to access these missions?

    Obviously we can't be sure until more is announced about it, but it would be pretty silly to add a bunch of new content and not have it available via Ouroboros. And even if it's not, if worse comes to worst, you can use Issue 16's super-sidekicking feature to run low-level content on your high-level character with a team of friends.

    My thoughts on Energy Melee are that it is awesome and it should be proliferated to Scrappers as soon as possible. <3

    While it is relatively unpopular these days, it has been my favorite melee set since I first started playing with it on a Brute when CoV launched.
  5. Wednesday the 28th is a good secondary bet, given that April 28th is the actual 6th anniversary of the game. (I'm with you guys for the 27th being the more popular choice, though.)

    New AT

    I would ABSOLUTELY LOVE a character that was Energy Assault/Willpower. That's pretty much what build my main Hero would have were it available at the start of the game.

    In order to balance the AT myself, I'd do the following:

    Primary: Assault Powers -- ranged damage on par with Corruptors (sans Scourge), melee damage on par with Scrappers (sans critical hits); Scrapper-level damage cap. Ranged powers have lower than normal accuracy (base 65% instead of 75%).

    Secondary: Defense -- 60% as effective as Tanker defenses (Scrappers, Brutes and Stalkers are already at 75% of Tanker effectiveness).

    HP: Stalker-level base HP, with similar HP cap.

    Possible Inherent choices:
    Point Blank: When in melee range, you get a bonus to accuracy (bringing base accuracy up to 75%) and damage (+10ish%) for all ranged attacks.

    Blind Rage: As your hitpoints decrease, your melee damage increases (max +20ish%) while your ranged damage decreases (max -20ish%).

    All-Out: You build a bar as you use your melee attacks, which enables a click power when filled (similar to Domination). The power, called "Go All-Out" enables a 30-second "super mode," increasing your damage and To-Hit (on par with Aim), your defense and resistance (+10% global Def, +20% global Resist), your recharge and even lowers endurance costs. However, after the power crashes, your endurance is dropped to zero (specifically to detoggle you), but you are able to immediately begin recovering endurance (unlike T9s such as Elude), perhaps even with a brief 5 second period of +25% end recovery as you catch your breath. You can not build your "All-Out" meter while in super mode, so you can not attempt to stack the power as you could with Domination. The bar does not decrease during periods of inactivity, but does specifically reset when you zone.

    Running both of the new Posi TFs grants the same "Positron's Ally" badge that you got for running the original. It's just that each of the new mini-TFs now offers a badge of its own as well.

    The Accolade requirements for Task Force Commander haven't changed otherwise, and it will still be accessible for new characters.

    Odd Question

    Or try listening to the radio. It's kind of hard to have one song stuck in your head while you're listening to another.

    If you don't have radio handy (or even if you do), you can always try www.pandora.com.
  9. Actually, this thread made me go check my Vet Rewards status on my accounts. Now they're both almost completely correct (my main account is off by one day, but I'm not gonna complain too much about that)!

    Now I'm looking forward to getting City Traveller on my second account on June 11, 2011.

    That's 48 hours from when you create a game account for the first time (or renew an account that had been allowed to expire). If you were able to log in to the live servers two days ago, then you should be fine to log in immediately to the test server when you're done updating it.

    Also, if you want to speed up the download, copy the "piggs" directory from your live CoH install folder to the CoHTest install folder. Then it will only need to download the stuff that's new between live (Issue 16) and test (Issue 17). You'll need to cancel the download before you try this, otherwise you'll probably get a file write error like "file X is already in use by the system, blah blah blah." (I think you'll also need to delete the checksum file as well after doing this copy, so it has to create a new one.) Then just run the updater again.

    Note that the i17 stuff is still over 800MB to download, though.

    Defender - Corruptor
    Controller - Dominator

    Somehow though a Blaster just does not equal out to a Mastermind and vice versa. I would also like to see Villains allowed into the Shardow Shard in GR.
    Actually, the pairing works as following:

    Blaster <-> Stalker
    Controller <-> Dominator
    Defender <-> Corruptor
    Scrapper <-> Brute
    Tanker <-> Mastermind

    Seriously, I'm not making this up, those are the counterparts the developers had in mind while creating the base Villain ATs. Blasters and Stalkers are both high-damage burst ATs that need to take precautions against being spiked into the ground (Blasters are ranged obviously, and Stalkers are intended for a "hit and run" playstyle), and the primary goal of both Tankers and MMs is to minimize the amount of aggro the rest of your team suffers (Bodyguard mode was added after release to help people get more into this mindset, as people were originally tending to play them as a sort of Defender/Blaster hybrid).

    That's not to say that any AT has to be played to the developers' intent--you can easily make an "Offender" out of a Defender that's more focused on damage than buff/debuff powers, or a "Blapper" out of a Blaster that stands toe to toe with everything and punches them into a fine paste. If you want to play your MM where you stand waaaay back and repeatedly sacrifice your pets until everything is dead, without getting anywhere near the fray yourself, you can still do that, and you can certainly build a Stalker that never leaves the fray after the first strike.

    And hell yes times infinity on letting Villains into the Shadow Shard already, but not as part of Going Rogue--it should be part of an issue that's available to every subscriber.
  12. I have a mission where the devil challenges you to a fight (for no good reason) and has a contract that claims your soul if you don't show up. I started out with only one type of enemy, a little red devil (appropriately named "Lil' Devil"), and then began to add others to make the mission harder and create some diversity. These included a blue devil named (surprise!) "Blue Devil," a green devil that used Spines called the "Spikey Devil," an orange one called the "Jersey Devil," a pink one with a surgical mask named "Paging Dr. Devil," and so on until I had I think 12 or 13 of the little guys ganging up on you. This was also in the days when missions didn't require minions, lieutenants and bosses for full exp, so I admit I made them all lieuts for the rewards... but the mission was NOT easy and farmers pretty much hated it.

    Anyway, one of them was a devil in a reverse-colored costume that I called the "Nega Devil."

    The mission ran for a few weeks with no real comments other than the standard "This is fun," "That was crazy," and "That was too hard you suck lolol" comments that most missions receive, and then one day some dude started leaving me a bunch of negative comments. The reason?

    "Nega is racesist." (Yes, he actually said "racesist.")

    He eventually got a bunch of his friends to complain as well and left inappropriate content flags on the arc, so I contacted support to let them know I was changing the "racesist" name and just renamed the critter as the "Reverse Devil." It kind of blew my mind though--go do a Google search for "nega," and all you'll come up with is acronyms and people's last names, with not a single use of it as any sort of ethnic slur that would normally be spelled with an i and two g's...

    I told a bunch of my friends about the situation, and so every once in a while when chat has died down, someone will say, "Hey Chad? ... You're racesist."
  13. I think I saw that someone else was having this issue within the last couple weeks. If I'm not mistaken, he did a Windows system restore and went back to before he started having these issues.

    Other generic things to try would be to verify your files on the CoH loader, defrag and error check your hard drive(s), clean out your temporary directory (open your run prompt and type "%temp%" then delete everything it will let you clean out from there) in case something is goofing with your system from there...

    Something is wrong here..
    You would think the already existing players who Prepurchase, putting money out for it before they even know all that goes into it should be getting the bonus, not so much the late adopters.
    I already commented on this in the other thread you just created, but for the sake of new people stumbling in here I'll do it again.

    Going Rogue Prepurchase--
    Targetted at existing players, gives them access to two powersets months before the expansion comes out (Dual Pistols and Demon Summoning will remain unavailable unless you eventually purchase the expansion). No additional fee required once the expansion is released in July.

    Going Rogue: Complete Collection--
    Targetted at new and returning players, contains full version of CoH/CoV as well as the expansion. It can be used to upgrade an existing account, at which point it will add a month of game time. Also contains some extra in-game items, such as new costume auras and emotes and an inherent stealth power. (These extra items will be available to purchase as a package through the NCSoft online store, but no price point has been set yet. It is generally assumed that the price will be $10 like every other upgrade/booster.)

    All this information was given on the boards by the moderators with some developer commentary in February, before the prepurchase program started. If you didn't read the information, then it's not really their fault.

  15. Y'know Gray, he might not be leaving for good. He might just not want to be automatically billed every month because his finances are tight at the moment or he might want to use time cards instead. Or, he might be taking a break, or he might be a member of the military who is about to be deployed overseas. There are any number of reasons why he might not want to be billed for next month with the intent to come back at a later date.

    Unless he says something like, "Screw this noise this game sucks i quitz!!11" then you're not allowed to ask "4 hiz stuffz."

    I'd always assumed they didn't include the Cimeroran Surgeons because you could easily spike them in one or two hits and they have absolutely no attacks to defend themselves with or mez resistance to speak of, which would result in a much more effective farming exploit than anything other than the Hami organelle farms that were killed in i15 (which also only healed and had no attacks, but gave boss-class rewards).
  18. Well, I don't know that there's anything another player can help you with if there's something wrong with your account. You need to contact NCSoft's tech support.

    http://us.ncsoft.com/en/support/

    (Please note that these forums are for players helping other players, and are not an official tech support channel supported by the game developers.)
  19. Hrm... in that case, next time you load into the game, I'd hit the "Verify All Files" button to make sure there's nothing wrong with your installation that's keeping those options unavailable for your login.

    Neither you nor your friend have added or replaced anything in the Piggs directory, have you?

    Counting all existing badges (except Bug Hunter and Passport), including the 72 month Vet badge, there are 700 badges available currently in Issue 16.

    If Snow Globe's list is complete, then they're adding 72 more, for a total of 772 Hero badges.

    Between the new badges introduced in Going Rogue and the Villain badges you'll (supposedly) be able to acquire by switching sides, there should be more than 1000 badges available by the end of summer.

    Maybe it's a good thing I'm single at the moment... >_>

    Edit: There will also be an Anniversary badge available from April 28th-May 31st that I wasn't counting in that 772 total, or so I'd imagine.

    I heard Simon Cowell's voice when I read this. Seriously. If you're not intending to come off as rude, you might need to rethink your phrasing.

    Quote:
    Your post does make me wonder though . . . did you actually design that program? If so, I am sorry for insulting your work dude. I just can't appreciate it I guess, maybe someone else will.
    No, I didn't design the technology, but I do think it's pretty cool. It's also really easy to implement, and it's something that marketting companies all over the world are implementing just because it's something new and, again, easy to implement. Some companies are even making useful real-world applications for this technology. Others are using it to enhance the appeal of existing products. (I will whole-heartedly admit that all of those links are in fact cooler than the implementation used for Going Rogue.)

    And if you'd ended the post in question by saying "I just can't appreciate it I guess, maybe someone else will," it would have changed the tone of the post significantly from what appears to be "the people working on this game are idiots" to "this isn't my cup of tea, oh well." It really does read like you feel entitled to one thing and are insulted that you got something else, even though neither thing was promised to you in the first place. That might not be what you were intending to say, but that's how it came across to me.

    Of course, the adult thing to do would be to apologize for making a post that people thought was rude, which I'll do now:

    I am sorry you found my post rude. And to be honest, it was a little bit rude, but the message was not altogether unwarranted to point out the problem with your post. And rather than leaving it at that, I should have gone on to clarify what my problem with it was (as I have in this post) and not just left it at that, or at the very least found better words to convey the message in a less harsh tone. I hope we can rise above this misunderstanding and be more civil with one another in the future.

    I believe it's called "The New Recruits" in Ouroboros. The merit reward has been reduced from 66 to 40, though, as it is now counted as a story arc instead of a task force.

    Still, a well-built character with a bit of stealth could probably solo it in a little over an hour, so that's not a bad reward at all. It's gonna be scary to see how little time it takes for Stalkers to run the old Posi TF once Going Rogue is released.
