Does it take a week to download and log into the test server for the first time?

about 3 hours ago I started the download to go into the test server. and its telling me I have 21 hours remaining.
why is this download taking so long?

and then I see the sticky note above in this forum saying it takes 48 hours to get the account authenticated.

so at this rate it'll be like a week, or a half a week, just to get into the test server.
is this right or am I doing something wrong?

unfortantly, that's probably about right.

The test server has a limited amount of hardware allocated to it, so if you don't already have it downloaded, it'll easily time out.

That's 48 hours from when you create a game account for the first time (or renew an account that had been allowed to expire). If you were able to log in to the live servers two days ago, then you should be fine to log in immediately to the test server when you're done updating it.

Also, if you want to speed up the download, copy the "piggs" directory from your live CoH install folder to the CoHTest install folder. Then it will only need to download the stuff that's new between live (Issue 16) and test (Issue 17). You'll need to cancel the download before you try this, otherwise you'll probably get a file write error like "file X is already in use by the system, blah blah blah." (I think you'll also need to delete the checksum file as well after doing this copy, so it has to create a new one.) Then just run the updater again.

Note that the i17 stuff is still over 800MB to download, though.
