    Woohoo!

    Grats Leandro!

Even though I'm in the same boat as Snow Globe and Master-Blade (I've reported plenty of bugs and even a couple exploits along with repeatable steps, one of which still exists on test right now), I think it's great that you've earned the unearnable. Enjoy it man!
  5. I'd still really like to turn my day-one Katana/SR Scrapper into an Energy Melee/Willpower Scrapper, but there's no way I'm gonna re-roll him. I wouldn't mind the 4-6 month crawl back to 50, but I spent waaay too long to earn the badges I have now and there are several badges that I wouldn't be able to obtain a second time at all.

(Not that Energy Melee is available for Scrappers yet, anyway...)

I'm not saying the idea of a powerset respec is inherently good, but I'd certainly use it on at least two characters as a matter of concept rather than performance.
  6. You can only purchase one account add-on per credit card per 24 hours. The error message if you try to purchase a second is the generic one you mentioned.

I recall at one point it was one add-on per credit card per week (and they didn't take Mastercards or PayPal at the time, either) back when they put in the Good vs Evil bonus pack, which was really annoying given that I wanted to purchase it for both my account and my at-the-time girlfriend's... :/ I ended up finding somewhere that had the boxed version on special for $25 and just used that to upgrade whichever account I didn't get to the first time.

As Master-Blade said, try again tomorrow and you should be fine.

I picked 99 because it's divisible by 3 and the last number before going into triple digits. (It would also be kind of neat if they stopped at 100 months, but I don't want to ask them to redo the reward scheduling code again. )

Also, your "old fart" suggestions made me laugh.

    1) Restart your computer then try again.

    2) Make sure you're running with administrative privileges.

    3) Try renaming the file manually, or moving it temporarily to your desktop, then try running the updater again.
  9. I actually agree with Eiko on this. As a day-one vet with all the rewards so far (barring the 72 month reward that I'll get next week), I really do think that the Veteran Reward program needs a concrete ending.

I've long held that 99 months would be a good stopping point, at least for the badges and for unique rewards. I'm not opposed to them continuing to give the common rewards (Respecs on the 9th month of every year, two costume tokens leading up to it and an extra character slot at the start of a new year) beyond the ending point, but unique things like the City Traveller perk are only good as dangled carrots if new players can still smell them. And as a badge hunter, I actually prefer to have competition... and the Vet badges bar a lot of newer players from participating in badging.
  10. She can't hear you, she's got you on ignore. Which, I might add, is a really good idea.

  11. Here's a download for the US client on PC:
    http://download.cityofheroes.com/US/CoH_NA_Setup.exe

Here's the same for a MAC:
    http://download.cityofheroes.com/US/...staller_US.dmg

I don't have access to the EU servers, so if that's what you'll need, you'll have to ask someone over there specifically.

Edit: I got these from the exact location that Bill suggested you go to find them.
  12. I'm going to have to completely agree with Snow Globe here.

I recall reading in Issue 5 that the original goal for the Epic badges was that they'd be earnable by most characters after five years of play. And yet, three months ago, on a character that was over 5½ years old, I still only had about 13 million points of damage. Seven months ago, I had a whopping 150 million inf worth of badge credit.

I spent several weeks last September/October doing nothing but inf grinding to hit Leader and a couple weeks AFK farming for damage to get the last damage badge in January. Neither were fun, but I suffered through them out of love for the game and for my character (as I did for 8 months worth of AFK heal farms in 2008).

The only i5 epic Achievement badges that I earned through normal play were the debt badges and the mentoring badges, and they were a lot more fun to earn--I earned them by actually playing the game with my friends, which is arguably the main focus of City of Heroes or any other MMO.

  15. As both a player who has been around since day one and an avid badge collector, I highly support the suggestions that have been made to allow these badges to become available after the fact.

"Holiday crafting" is a good solution. Making them purchaseable for a small real money fee via the NCSoft store is a less-good-but-feasible option as well. Creating some sort of "shadow" badge that gives badge credit but shows that the recipient was not actually present to receive the official anniversary badge is another good one.

(As a sidenote, whatever happened to making the anniversary badges global, as was stated during the Mission Architect badge nerf?)
  16. I say nay as well, and I seriously loves me some badges.

I hated that I had to afk farm for Empath, Immortal and Jailed, and I did not enjoy the time I spent grinding with a non-farm-built Scrapper for Leader either. I say that the badges themselves are enough of a reward, without giving the people who go through hell to earn them a perk... which would make other people who aren't interested in badging for the sake of badging feel that they need to farm to get these badges, probably on most of their characters, etc etc.

Honestly, I think the epic Achievement badges should count globally (as in, any time you're playing a character that gets held, it counts towards the epic held badges for all characters) to further discourage badge farming, but that's a subject for a different thread.

The only thing I've ever seen even remotely like that (with the current batch of developers) is that the devs have always refused to give Dual Pistols to Scrappers.

I've never seen a redname post "No AT shall ever have ranged attacks with a defense powerset!" And even if they had... as has been pointed out in this thread several times, we now have Khelds and Soldiers of Arachnos, making that statement a lie.

Because, in action, it's completely backwards from that sentence.

The people who have it had to wait to earn it, with no other options. There's a reason that it's a Vet reward; it's a carrot meant to throw players who have been around for a long time a bone (and again, it's not the crazy useful reward that some people make it out to be) and to keep others interested in it long enough so that they'll subscribe for 60 months.

I tell you what, I'll support your idea if you agree to market it for $900--the cost of 60 months of game subscription at the monthly billing rate. That $900 doesn't include ANY game subscription time, but it will automatically bump you up to the 60 month vet status. The price remains the same whether you're a brand new subscriber or if you're a 59 month subscriber. I think that sounds fair.

  19. Also, I just noticed that "Dyre Knight" has also reached 700. I don't know him (or if I do, I don't know that I do ), but he's in Jagged Legion, so I assume Beef Cake knows him.

Grats to you as well, Dyre!

Fixed. No times infinity plus one.

My second account still has over 15 months to get to the 60 month vet reward, and it honestly doesn't bother me one bit. As others have said, I've already played the game for 5 years without the little perk, and it's really not as useful as you're making it out to be.

Air Superiority, Hover, Combat Jumping, Hasten and Recall Friend are all very useful powers.
  22. Gratz Snow! It's a good feeling to be "done," isn't it?

... Then on the other hand, you think, "Well what do I do with my time now?"
  23. I got my badge exclusively from hunting in RV in Issue 7. It took about two weeks of spending ALL my free time sitting in the train station, but I was the first person on Victory to get it solely from RV hunting.

... Afterwards, I took a little break from the game, because daaaayumn that burnt me out...
  24. I met my last girlfriend in City of Heroes. We dated for a little less than 4 years, but then she quit CoH and started playing World of Warcraft. Immediately thereafter, we split up.

Then a few months later, she started playing CoH again, and for a little while it looked like we might get back together... but then she met some other guy in WoW and quit CoH (and whatever relationship we had) for good.

Capes are available to every character once they hit level 20 and do a special mission. There are a few booster packs--such as the Magic Pack or the Valkyrie Pack--that give you a special cape that you can use even on a brand new character, though.

Samurai armor, on the other hand, is a reward for veterans who have subscribed to the game for a total of 18 months (non-consecutive time), so it'll be at least a year and a half until you can access those parts.
