Idea for 6th Anniversary Event
Since the 6th Anniversary of the game have been announced with all the details, I think it would be nice if they also add some kind of option that let us craft older anniversary badges. Similar in concept of the winter event were you can craft older badges that are no longer available. This will also let new people get the 5th Column Gladiator that was awarded if you got the first two anniversary badges.

I'd rather they go back and just make the anniversary badges global.

As both a player who has been around since day one and an avid badge collector, I highly support the suggestions that have been made to allow these badges to become available after the fact.
"Holiday crafting" is a good solution. Making them purchaseable for a small real money fee via the NCSoft store is a less-good-but-feasible option as well. Creating some sort of "shadow" badge that gives badge credit but shows that the recipient was not actually present to receive the official anniversary badge is another good one.
(As a sidenote, whatever happened to making the anniversary badges global, as was stated during the Mission Architect badge nerf?)
Main Hero: Chad Gulzow-Man (Victory) 50, 1396 Badges
Main Villain: Evil Gulzow-Man (Victory) 50, 1193 Badges
Mission Architect arcs: Doctor Brainstorm's An Experiment Gone Awry, Arc ID 2093

But then, they're essentially veteran badges, are they not?

Obviously there's a bit of a snag when it comes to people who have had older anniversary badges but then deleted those characters.
I guess what I'm saying is that, yeah, letting people who were in no way, shape, or form actually around for the anniversary events get the badges would be defeating their entire purpose.

Won't argue with making them global. I *personally* like not having them global, even though it's a pain if you have a lot of characters, as I like using them generally as a "This character was around then," but I can see others arguments for it.
Of course, combining the two can give an interesting bit of glimpse into an account's history - 30 months with the first, second, and sixth anniversary, for instance, would be different from thirty with the fifth and sixth. *shrug*
Will always disagree with having them purchaseable.
Presumably you'd still have to log in on at least one character during the anniversary event, so not quite.

Hmm...if the requirement to get the badges is that you have had to log in during that time with one of your characters who may/may not still be around...
I dunno, I always kinda figured the purpose of anniversary badges was to show basically how long your character has been in existence (not to be confused with how long you yourself have been playing). Obviously, thats not neccessarily the case--and it could be I'm the only one who thinks that way. And yes, I know they're basically fluff badges that go "Hey, we made it to year X!" But I consider them less fluff than winter/halloween/valentine badges, which are the essentiallly same every year.
All that said, I would love it on my badger, who is a Willpower toon--thus missing the first couple anniversary badges.
I would prefer they just make them tied to an account, rather than the actual characters. Logging in a character just for the sake of logging in a character shouldn't be necessary. If you had an active account during the badge period and logged on at all, you've helped to celebrate.
I've been around for most, but not all anniversaries, so I've missed some in the middle. So I can accept not having it for being gone from the game. But because I didn't log in that character? Seems a little much. Maybe there were things I wanted to get done on other characters.
But it's just a badge, so I'm not worried about it one way or the other.

Kill 'em all. Let XP sort 'em out.
A thought I just had for these badges is actually rather simple(In thought, not implimentation). Ouroborus. Ouro the 'time' the badges were originally released, and then participate in the 'event' that happened at that time. If there wasn't an event, then link it to to an event, that has been taken out of the game. Like the Calvin Scott TF. Once completed you get the Anniversary badge. An option to be used at the Devs descretion would be to add an asterisk to the badge, showing that the badge was earned via Ouro, and not by actually being around that long.
This would allow the badges to be earned by those who both have been around since the start who might have missed it, or created characters after the fact, and late starters who weren't around then.
I'm a badger and I hate having all but the first anniversary badge on my hero badger -- but I still have to /unsign this. Making previous anniversary badges obtainable after the fact completely defeats the purpose of having anniversary badges. Annual events are different because the events themselves have changed over the years.
I do think they should be global, though.

It makes them "non anniversary badges." Yeah, I dislike having them available to be gotten "after the fact." Might as well just make craftable badges that mean nothing more than you crafted the badge.

I would like it if they were global. If you get the badge on one character, it flags your account - YOU were there for the anniversary, which is what counts, doesn't it?
Besides, I have over a hundred characters at this point and logging most of them in for the anni badge is TEDIOUS AS HELL.
edit: I don't support crafting or purchasing old anni badges. If you weren't there for it, YOU WEREN'T THERE.

Edit:
I'd be in favor of an alternate means of getting the 5th column gladiator though. Perhaps any 2 Anniversary badges? Seems easy enough to track.
I wouldn't mind a way for people to get the missing badges though.
