Quote:?Apparently things never change. They just migrate to other servers lol. champion foreigners lol
Two of the founding members of Exalted League never set foot on the Champion server as far as I am aware, and one of the channel ops added since then hasn't either.
As for me, yes, I played on Champion. However, the day that NCSoft announced the game was going free-to-play and they would open a VIP only server, I decided to move to the VIP server. One of the better decisions I've made, imo. -
Here is the build that I am currently using for my level 50 Super Strength / Electric Armor Brute. It is fairly unconventional, with Fly and Energy Mastery, but I find it highly effective. I primarily use this toon to farm Borea missions in the Rikti War Zone at +1x8, and to also lead the yellow mito assault team in blue side Hamidon raids. I hope it helps someone.

Welcome @Aneko as our sixth and newest channel operator!

IMO, once Going Rogue went live and all ATs could be on any side, Defenders and Tankers became obsolete, with the exceptions of Empathy and Force Field Defenders. Brutes, Scrappers, and yes, even Blasters, have their place in the game. Defenders and Tankers, again with the exceptions of Empathy and Force Field, not so much.
Anything a Defender can do, a Corruptor can do almost as well and output a significant amount more damage. Anything a Tanker can do, a Brute can do almost as well and output a significant amount more damage. There's nothing in the game that a Defender can do that a Corruptor can't, and nothing in the game that a Tanker can do that a Brute can't. And the Corruptor and Brute would output a lot more damage while doing it. -
IMO, Repulsion Field is redundant. Force Bubble is good enough. I have three level 50 Force Field Defenders. All have Force Bubble, none have Repulsion Field. Force Bubble is useful on ITFs, and while soloing. It's also a good "oh crap" power on mothership raids.
My new main toon is a level 50 Force Field / Fire Blast Defender. For a Defender, he is a beast. He can softcap the entire team to Incarnate content with 59.6% defense to everything, and is softcapped to range at 45.7% for personal defense. Admittedly, I spent three billion INF on IOs and $80 on Enhancement boosters, but neither is necessary by any means.
He is currently slotted with a Cardiac Core Paragon Alpha, Reactive Radial Flawless Interface, Pyronic Core Final Judgement, Rebirth Radial Epiphany Destiny, and Warworks Core Superior Ally. The Cardiac Core Paragon Alpha gives him additional range in addition to the reduced endurance, so I can safely stay out of melee range behind my Force Bubble while soloing.
If it'll help, my current Force Field / Fire Blast Defender build is here. -
Fantastic job, y'all. There was a bit of a hiccup on the second Hamidon raid, but we managed to pull through thanks to great leadership from Cherry, and thanks to everyone sticking it out and seeing it through to the end.

A Very Rikti Christmas
When: Thursday, December 22nd, 2011
Time: 8:00 P.M. ET / 5:00 P.M. PT
Where: Rikti War Zone
Hello, Exalted. Christmas is coming. What is a better way to celebrate the holidays than to smash Rikti with loved ones?
Here is how the event will be structured:
8:00 P.M. ET / 5:00 P.M. PT: Meet on the rooftop just south of Pylon 17 in the Rikti War Zone, and we will raid the Rikti mothership. An one billion inf prize will be given to whomever gets the kill shot on U'Kon Gr'ai.
9:00 P.M. ET / 6:00 P.M. PT: Holiday themed costume contest just outside of the Vanguard base in the Rikti War Zone.
You don't have to participate in both parts. If you just want to do the Rikti mothership raid, or the holiday themed costume contest, that is okie.
Here are the details of each part:
1. Rikti mothership raid
Everyone will gather on the rooftop just south of Pylon 17 in the Rikti War Zone on Thursday, December 22nd, at 8:00 P.M. ET / 5:00 P.M. PT. All level 35+ characters are welcome. However, I request that you wear a holiday themed costume. Whomever gets the kill shot on U'Kon Gr'ai will win an one billion inf prize.
2. Holiday themed costume contest
There will be a holiday themed costume contest just outside of the Vanguard base in the Rikti War Zone at 9:00 P.M. ET / 6:00 P.M. PT. All characters are welcome.
Prizes
As noted above, whomever lands the kill shot on U'Kon Gr'ai during the Rikti mothership raid will win one billion inf.
Prizes for the costume contest will be given to characters with winning costumes. First place will win 1.5 billion inf, second place 800 million inf, third place 400 million inf, fourth place 200 million inf, and fifth place 100 million inf. That's three billion inf in prizes!
I hope to see y'all there! -
Celerity: +Stealth is good to slot in Super Speed. Super Speed gives you +35% stealth on its own. Celerity: +Stealth on top of that gives you 65% stealth, making you invisible to NPCs. Generally not worth slotting in Sprint, imo, as it does not give you enough stealth on its own to make you invisible, only when combined with Super Speed.

My Force Field / Fire Blast Defender has a Cardiac Core Paragon Alpha, Reactive Radial Flawless Interface, Pyronic Core Final Judgement, Rebirth Radial Epiphany Destiny, Warworks Core Superior Ally, and Vanguard Core Superior Ally. I still have three Very Rare salvage, seven Rare salvage, and a ton of common and uncommon salvage left over. I'm tempted to make one of the new Interface powers, but I can't decide which.
I did a lot of reading on the various Issue 21.5 beta threads, talked with some knowledgeable friends, and still can't decide on which new Interface to go with. Degenerative looks good, but there's a lot of mixed information about it out there. Some say it's largely useless.
Any ideas? -
Quote:There's several more Exalted server channels than that. As nice as it would be, consolidation won't happen, for various reasons. You don't need to be in all of those channels. Just pick one or two that you like, and stick with it.I dunno about you guys but I'm struggling to keep up with all the channels I'm in on Exalted. Most of them seem to be duplicating info anyhow - especially EXALTED-UNITED (sorry for shouting) and Exalted Events, but it's becoming an issue for me since I need other channels for the other servers I play on.
Currenlty I'm in:
Exalted LFG
Exalted League
BMT of Exalted
EXALTED-UNITED
Exalted RP
Exalted Events
How do you guys manage and would it be an idea for the leaders to put their heads together and think about consolidation?
Personally, the only Exalted server channel I am in is Exalted League. It's all I need. -
Quote:Mid's can be wrong, and is in this case. I know that it shows Power Buildup effecting the +defense from Disperson Bubble, but it actually doesn't in game. Nor does it effect Cold's shields in game, for the reason that BrandX gave. It does however boost a Force Fielder's bubbles, with the exception of Dispersion Bubble.I questioned that too, what PBU actually affected. In MIDs it takes it from 15% to 29.75%, unslotted.
Also, text from Paragon wiki:
Powerboost
Powerboost is labeled as a +Special power, however there is no Special Attribute. What Powerboost does is provide a positive Attribute Modifier to a large list of Attributes. These attributes are: Stun Strength, Sleep Strength, Confuse Strength, Terrorize Strength, Immobilize Strength, Held Strength, RunSpeed Strength, FlySpeed Strength, Heal Strength (A positive Hit Point Attribute Modifier), ToHit Strength, Endurance Strength, Defense Strength (All).
Is powerboost the same as Power Build Up?
EDIT: Just curious, do you play them on Defenders or Corruptors?

Tomorrow's Rikti mothership raid is canceled. Happy Thanksgiving, y'all! Enjoy, and see y'all back in the Rikti War Zone next week.

Quote:I used to use KeePass. However, between having and using my desktop computer, a notebook computer, an Android smartphone, and now an iPad 2, I began to see the light in using a remote password manager, lol. It makes things so much easier. I realize it's not as secure, but like I said in a prior post, the way Last Pass responded to the attack in May impressed me and made me choose them.Good article.
I use password safe, its stored locally on your computer/usb. passwordsafe.sourceforge.net
I'd find it hard to trust a web based password service, you are putting a lot of faith in every stop between you and thier web page - how does it protect against man in midle attacks, things like firesheep if you want to access something when at a cafe etc.
And I'm sure lastpass is more of a target than my computer.
But from all reports they (lastpass) do the security very well. It's just my personal paranoia that would stop me using an internet based password keeper. -
Quote:I use Last Pass as well.My CoH account got hacked last year and ended up being banned. I have to say the CS folks were very helpful in clearing up the matter. Now I use Last Pass for generating/storing passwords for any web-based stuff I do.
Works well, and it's free. Just waiting for the announcement that "Last Pass Has Been Hacked! User Information Compromised! Change All Passwords IMMEDIATELY!"
However, Last Pass was indeed hacked back in May.
The way Last Pass responded to the attack actually impressed me and made me sign up with 'em. -
PC Gamer just posted an excellent piece on four steps to recover from MMOG account hacking. While it's generic to all MMOGs, it's good, simple, advice I thought I'd share as it is, unfortunately, something that is becoming more and more common.

Quote:1. What operating system, and 32 bit or 64 bit?Hi all, i was wondering if anyone has an idea on which is the best driver for me to download (asuming it is the driver).. im using an ATI Radeon HD 4600 series.
My problems started after that latest download when CoH login screen said my drivers where out-dated, so obviously i downloaded the newest driver i could the "Catalyst 11.10", Thats when my problems started i would crash at least twice a session, NPC's would jump all over my screen (as if they were time warping... sorry cant think how else better to explain this) and my game would completly freeze for 4-5 minutes at a time.
Now that to me is enough, being from no problems what-so-ever to this.. my game is almost completely un-playable. Anyway heres what ive tried so far.. ive downloaded and tested the following drivers: Catalyst 11.10, Catalyst 11.9, catalyst 11.8 and the catalyst 11.7..No luck (i wish i could say ive tried them all but that is realy time comsuming and im sure its not doing my computer any good either) ive run the repair program on the NCsoft installer, ive de-fragged my comp, cleaned my system and toned down (to bare minimum) my in-game settings. Nothing has worked.
Any help or sugestions would be greatly appreciated
2. I do not believe that City of Heroes ultra mode officially supports the ATi Radeon 4600 series, so you may want to disable ultra mode if it is not disabled already.
3. That is very odd that you had difficulties with the 11.9 and 11.10 drivers, as they are both very stable, imo.
What I would suggest you do is:
1. Since you had issues with the 11.9 and 11.10 drivers, download the 11.3 drivers. Go here for 64 bit Vista and 7. Go here for 32 bit Vista and 7. Go here if you're still stuck on Windows XP.
2. Download and install Driver Sweeper.
3. Uninstall the AMD video driver you currently have installed.
4. Reboot, and enter Safe Mode by pressing F8 before the Windows splash screen.
4. While in Safe Mode, run Driver Sweeper to completely remove all traces of the AMD video driver from your system.
5. Reboot again, (no need to go into Safe Mode this time though). Install the AMD driver downloaded in step 1. -
It's with Windows 7 64 bit. I realize that my experience is my own with no data to back it up, and there are a multitude of possible hardware and software configurations at play. However, I felt it worth reporting I've had no issues with the 11.10 drivers during extensive play over the past couple of weeks.
-
I have a Radeon 5850 and have been using the 11.10 drivers for the past two weeks with zero issues. That includes several 4+ hour gaming sessions, three Hamidon raids, three Rikti mothership raids, and numerous Incarnate trials.
-
Eh. I don't beta test anymore, as I've found that it spoils the fun for me once the stuff goes live. So, I have not done either of the upcoming trials. However, the BAF and Lambda Trials were very PuG un-friendly when they first came out. Now most people can run BAFs and Lambda Trials in their sleep. The same is slowly happening to the Keyes Trial thanks to the Issue 21.5 nerfs and good leadership by those willing to try to lead Keyes Trials. I suspect the same will slowly happen with the upcoming trials as well.

Quote:1. You don't need to sign up on the forums for our Hamidon raids. Just show up.Hey guys, I noticed theres been hami raids on exalted and I always forget to check the forums to join up so figured that we could organise one, ive never actually run one before but would like to organise one and I feel id be up for the challenge.
I would appreciate it if alot of people could turn up as I will be recording it with fraps to post up on youtube.
I will look into the strategy in depth and will be prepared by wednesday, so everyone thats interested please sign your name up, and the AT your bringing.
The even will take place wednesday and we will meet just outside the hive at 5pm BST.
Any questions please contact me in game or via @Sypher Vendetta.
Many thanks.
2. Like James Donner posted above me, the odds are very much against you. While I sympathize with the European players that would like to raid Hamidon, the fact is that the vast majority of Exalted server players are North American. Even with that, most of our experienced raiders are on the west coast, 8 hours behind U.K. time. IMO, there just aren't enough European players that both have level 50+ toons on Exalted and are experienced with Hamidon raids to pull it off.
Trying to get together a PuG Hamidon raid at 12 P.M. ET / 9 A.M. PT on a weekday, especially the day before the American Thanksgiving holiday? Yeah... Odds are very bad. But regardless, good luck should you decide to go through with it. -
It was awesome. Thanks for putting it all together, Cherry. Big props to the Stoned Templars, Jagged Legion, and Aneko.
Thirteen person Hamidon raid with no temporary powers used!
Just fyi, check out here.
Thanks for letting me be a part of it. -
I've been on six Keyes Trials since Issue 21.5 went live. All of them succeeded. It's so much easier now.
I am noticing, however, that since Issue 21.5 went live, a lot of people are either
a. unaware they're disintegrating because of the removal of the green bubble
or
b. just don't care that they're disintegrating. Like the OP, I think a lot of people were / are under the mistaken impression that AM no longer heals from disintegration, even though that's not anywhere in the patch notes, and is not the case.
No matter how many times the trial leader reminds people to back away from the group when disintegrating and to call out for heals... they're just not doing it now for some reason. It makes that part a lot harder for the empaths and thermals on the trial.
