  1. Yikes!

Y'know, I was on Tattered Man for a bit over the weekend and Belle registered as online according to my server friends list. I was just on for 5 minutes trading out some salvage to other characters, so I didn't say 'Hi'. But now I sorta wish I had.

Had "Belle" tried to sell me anything, I would have known instantly that it wasn't you. I'm sorry you got hacked, but let me say that your rep in these parts remains as strong as it ever was. Hope you didn't lose any virtual goodies that you might have been planning to give out to new players!

  2. I haven't read all 40 pages of this, because it became apparent pretty quick which way it was going to go.

    But for the record:

I dinged my first 50 in 2007, my stone/mace tank, 3 years after starting her up. I spent about 2 months over the summer of 2009 purpling her out. (I filled in all the holes of -dam, -rech and -run that Granite Armor drops on you) I did so solely by following the advice of the market forum regulars and playing the market. I crafted and sold lvl 40 acc and rech IOs, flipped middling-rare IO sets at lvl 50, and then when I'd built up enough of a nest egg, bought 2-for-1 purple recipes of what I wanted and sold the second completed piece to keep the money flow positive.

I've dinged another 50 each year afterwards- a brute in 2008, a scrapper in 2009 and a MM this last September. This month, I just finished the final purple pieces of the purples/rares I want for the scrapper. I expect to start on the brute over the holidays, and finish purpling him out sometime around Valentine's Day. I built the MM around +def IO sets, so I don't expect to actually change the sets she's already got.

For all these characters as well, I have been using the advice of the ebil marketeers here, who make it so easy to join their club. Inf pours out of the sky like rain if you just listen to the people who know how to catch it.

Plus, I wanted to give a tip o' the Casual hat to Nethergoat, for quoting me in his sig. If I've amused him enough to be quote-worthy, it's little enough reward for his advice that funded my new, spiffy builds. My scrapper was the last one standing next to the tank while we pounded on Reichsman over the weekend and it was a blast!
  3. I swear I'm going to start charging people for using my name in vain.

Most important info in the guide!

j/k- That was a very nice guide, Organica. Thank you!

But seriously, we're getting a new blast set? I'm never in the AT/Powers sections, so this is news to me.
  6. This is pretty much all you need to know about Judge Dredd:

  7. Great scott, that's awesome!

    VOTE MAMIKA!!
  8. *sigh*

There's a batch of 12-year-old girls whom I occasionally teach that this movie is aiming at like an Orbital Lance.

Otherwise, yeah, it looks like Twilight dipped unmercifully in Ye Olde Renaissance Faire.

Gotta dig Gary Oldman in the Purple Robe of Funkiness, though.

I'm sure it will be printing money when it lands in theaters.
  9. Jeez-o-Pete!

That level of detail would paralyze me.

But I can see them in Atlas now:
Brandon Routh 5uperm4n, Chris Reeve SUPrman, Tom Welling sup3rmann, and so on, all arguing about whose eyebrows are more authentic...
  10. I'm just sad that the giant yellow pincers in the front are decorative only.

In my imagination, they're clomping together viciously while the car remotely chases down whatever crooks have made the mistake of running down the street.

  11. Link is to the Jalopnik website

    BEHOLD!

(Yes, it boasts a miniature version of itself, in case of Bat-emergencies)

  12. It's a bit too late now since you're going in another direction, but I'll throw my own werewolf out there just to give another take on the character trope.

My guy is named London Wolf, taken from Warren Zevon's song. He's an SS/Inv brute. He was both the character I played in CoV beta (got to lvl 14, which was quick for me in the month I was in it) and the villain I managed to get to 50 to snag VEATs with. Last piece of trivia before I get to the concept- he's still running around with the Perfect Zinger proc in Invincibility from back when that was possible.

London is an ancient magical wolf creature who roamed England at the location of London before it was built. For centuries he preyed on the humans who settled there, eventually learning how to mimic their appearance. He eventually came to identify with 'his' humans and settled into a comfortable life as a thoroughly urban killer. He traveled the world as the English empire grew but became disgusted with the country as England abandoned its empire. He still has a soft spot for small island nations that dream of conquest and so he settled in the Rogue Isles in the 80s.

London's appearance is a black-furred werewolf using a somewhat pinkish skin-tone on the huge model. (It's amazing the difference in look you get on the huge model with muscles bulked out) He wears an immaculately tailored black suit with the rampant english lion symbol above the left breast pocket in red. The suit includes pants down to the beast knees, with the large furry claws below. Red gloves over monstrous hands and a red-and-white-striped, english school scarf complete the picture, or did until the tail became available.

He does have a 'human' costume slot, which is just a magical disguise; it is the identical suit with human legs, only on a non-huge frame with a rugged, lightly scarred human head and non-monstrous red gloves. Before the science pack, the wolf slot was bulked up to nigh-max and the human slot was leg-shortened and skinnied down to make the difference as visible as possible.

When I'm in full RP mode on him (and sometimes not) I type in the most 'orrific cockney accent wot oi can conjer up, mate. If he's not working or hunting, he's quite the gentleman, and has had to rebuff far too many modern forward ladies as best he can (without telling them they smell).

You can probably tell London was a Virtue native. It's been a blast playing him. But I don't do much with characters after I hit 50 on them, so I retired him to a quieter server last January.

    Still.
    If you're on Victory...
    Stay away from him.
He'll rip your lungs out, Jim!
  13. I love the concept of 'Space' Sky Raiders.

Taking it to the next level, indeed.

Here's hoping that the I20 NDA is all about null/low-g movement mechanics that will be necessary for awesome space-station-ness.

Hey, check it out. Red names visited my profile!

I always knew this game catered specially to me, and now I have proof!

Now I just have to remember that these message things exist.
  15. I've been a member of the LJ global channel for...
    umm...
can it be approaching 2 years now? O.o

So maybe it's time I popped on over and actually joined the LJ community...

  17. Really? And here I thought this guy was the 'I win' button:

  18. Ummmm....

To be more specific- this is not quite as useless as the Party Pack, but it's still nothing I'll be paying money for.
  19. Wow.

Dr. Aeon has just been seriously owned.

That was the greatest Dev response ever!

    Nope,

She's definitely always said that. I had been wondering for some time what else she might have, and I just got my first villain to 50 this month. So I tooled on back to Cap to check her and her promised mission out. Alas, she was still task-less.

    Grump.

    Dr.Who news....

    Meh.

What do you do when a child asks you if you're going to die?

Particularly a child that's relying on you to save him?

You lie your 900-year-old tail-end off.

I still expect them to deal with the impending end of regenerations in some dramatic fashion.

This just delays the 'need' some fans feel for the issue to be addressed NAOW! and gives some Dr. Who blogger something to post for another day.

You need to rant a little about how the ruler of these zones is truly evil. I think this sailed past people without that extra GG oomph.
  23. Statesmonkey sez: The gathering was awe-inspiring. Great to see all you folks out there in game for once, even for as sad an occasion as this.

Thanks for the hard work, BaBs and other Unknown ex-Devs! You were a big part of why CoH is so fun!

    /em salute
  24. You also might want to post this over on the Infinity Server forums.
-- Not to say I'm unenthusiastic! I think this is a great idea, just that it might better reach its target audience in another forum.
