  1. Hey folks. For a while now I've been playing on both servers (I started out on Defiant). Yesterday I noticed I've now got 11 toons on Union, 5 (3 heroes, 2 villians) of which I play very often and none of which have an SG.

I'm on most evenings (unless distracted by things like Fallout 3) after 9 and it'd be nice to be part of an SG with people on at the same times for teams and random chat etc.

My toons are : Dark Quasar, level 36 WS, Pupulus, level 26 scrapper, Thermin, level 14 Blaster on the heroic side and Mr Reaver, level 41 MM and Black Abomination, level 12 Brute.

I'm house-trained (well pretty much... accidents happen) and am happy to be in SG mode etc.

Posi himself confirms, no more prerequisites for tier 3 travel pool powers.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Oooh, slightly more interesting so. It'd be fairly useful to some of my flyers and TPers in that form alright, freeing up a power choice.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Indeed! Some might argue that this goes against the vein of vet powers, which are to give you something nice, but that doesn't give you an advantage in the game. Well, I suppose this IS true BUT, I feel that a 5 year milestone is DESERVING of something that gives you an advantage, even if it's small, and I don't see that one exception to this rule will set any precedents either.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If it was all pool powers it'd be overpowered alright (imagine... *drools*), but for just travel powers it seems reasonable enough.

Certainly less OPed than the Vet attacks IMO, for some builds they remain fairly excellent all the way to 50.

I hate to rain on everyones parade about dropping a power, but whilst it sayss that the travel powers open up at level 6..

As it stands the descriptions still state that eg. for fly you must allready posess hover or air superiority.

There is a pretty decent (IMO, extremely likely, for balance reasons) probabiity this will continue.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's what I was thinking too, this just means you can get the actual travel power at level 8.

Doesn't seem that amazing to me to be honest. It's not like it takes years to get from level 8 to level 14 and you can get the Raptor pack at level 5 anyway to fill the gap.

I'm betting on the new booster pack too. The timing is slightly risy though, I'd have thought they wouldn't patch before a DXP weekend just in case it borks.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually, I think it makes sense. Patch it on Thursday, run it for a day, and if it's borked you can do a rollback in the Friday maintenance window.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Aye. Assuming they spot the bork on the Friday.

Personally I like to give it two or three days afterwards where I'm available, just in case. I don't like upgrading anything on a Thursday just in case something subtle yet critical pops up and I lose my weekend.

Could also have something to do with DXP

    [/ QUOTE ]

Shouldn't be, DXP isn't a new feature and anyway it wouldn't have 80Mbs worth of data unless it added new GFX.

I'm betting on the new booster pack too. The timing is slightly risy though, I'd have thought they wouldn't patch before a DXP weekend just in case it borks.
  7. [ QUOTE ]
On the other hand, they don't have to give us anything...

    [/ QUOTE ]

No, they don't. But given that it was a feature which added to the game which took a fair bit of development time and effort they really should.

A nice AOE cone attack of some sort would be nice, especially for getting the Vets through yet another 1-14 (or 1-20 even) slog. I suppose the problem with it is that it can be exploited (Freezing Rain + Vet Rewards is a lovely combo for example).
  8. [ QUOTE ]
First.. I loove the Incredibles cool quote.

Second.. I only have one wearing a cape .. the rest should actually have cloaks. I use the cape sometimes to try and make one lok like a cloak. What if we keep the [censored] hero cape to lvl 20 and all variations to lvl 1.

Then again... the same thing counts for the alien villain who may be even hating Hero-1 for stopping the Rikti. Having game mechanics like this explained by game lore isn't always working. And I guess this is one of those.

    [/ QUOTE ]

But villains don't wear capes to honour Hero-1. They nick them off heroes and wear them as personal trophies (except any Villain who decides to mug one of my toons for a cape, they're in for a disappointment).

Only my WS has any sort of cape at all, and that's the one-shoulder Vet Reward (and its more like a shawl)

To be honest I do kind of hope there is a Thumbs Up system too. Simply because a moderated-only system is likely to be used for a few months before stagnating and dying.

    [/ QUOTE ]

A bit like the original Creative Genius thread

Actually I was thinking that a mission would probably be allowed straight away but that complaints or other forms of moderation might get it pulled or altered. Wasn't something mentioned about missions being altered somewhere??

    [/ QUOTE ]

Oh inappropriate content can be looked at alright and changed or deleted. Just like with character creation now, you can create the name and bio but if someone complains it'll be looked at. Thumbs Up approved Hall of Famers will follow the same logic I guess.

Didn't they mentioned that missions that are well done and get high ratings will get unlocks like end xp, salvage drops etc. and ultimately might earn the "developers choise" and then get treated like a normal mission.

Not 100% on that, but i think i read it in some interview.

    [/ QUOTE ]

There's developers choice Hall of Famers and, if an arc gets enough Thumbs Up it will also become a Hall of Fame arc.

Thus I can see Farming arcs happening anyway via the power of the public vote, people will vote for the best farming arc and once it gets into the hall of fame all the rewards will be present.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I have a feeling that might be a little more selective. I can't see that being left to chance to be honest. I expect the missions will be 'moderated'.

  13. I throw a dart at the screen to see which alt I'll play for a bit. Generally I go through bouts of playing 2 or 3 toons for a few weeks until I get bored of them and then move on (this weeks duo are a Claws/WP scrapper who is now level 24 and a level 12 DM/WP Brute, which is the scrappers fault).

Then generally I stick LFT on, make a shout out and either street hunt for a bit or do a mission or two while I wait for a PuG slot to show up, which never takes too long.

Do the published arcs give full rewards?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not as far as I know... Or do you mean the ones promoted to the Hall of Fame? I believe I read somewhere than any promoted to that would probably get full rewards, as they'd become canon.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yep, sorry Hall of Fame ones I meant.

It's likely that if there is a Thumbs Up system where players decide what can go into the Hall of Fame there'll be Farming Arcs eventually anyway in that case, unless NC start getting heavy-handed and vetoing player voting.

Personally as long as there's XP for chopping things up, so I'm still progressing my toons I don't care too much about drops.
  15. Do the published arcs give full rewards?
  16. Personally I skipped Siren's Song (and acrobatics since I'm never in melee and things should be whiffing anyway). I'd take Screech instead of Petrifying Gaze for the ability to stack with Howling Twilight (and Oppressive Gloom if you take it).

Take Fearsome Stare at 16, you can leave Shadowfall off until you get Stamina IMO. Fearsome Stare is your #1 power in Dark IMO, you want it ASAP.

I took Howling Twilight earlier too, with 3 recharge in there it becomes a great mez & boss debuff. Although on teams you're then always stuck with the choice "If I mez them with Howling now will someone end up dying in 10 seconds time".
  17. Well you guys were right. Don't leave the mez protection until level 22 like I did. Get it at 12.

18-22 were a bit annoying, lots of new mezzing enemies, especially a CoT mission which had a few spam-held-and-die moments. Now though it's fun watching them do their mezzes at you and shrugging it off.

Cal's a sadist. His rockets land and do nothing for 10 seconds. Then, while the enemies are just clustering around it to see what all the fuss was about it blows up.

I do miss the idiotically oversized mobs in The Hollows. And I'm not too fond of all the blow-in gangs there now. Stupid Lost not counting towards my Hunt totals.

I also miss disliking playing scrappers as being "dull". Mmmm. Scrapperlock. (this actually ties in with my first point, with my current toon I actually look forward to jumping into a large group and wondering if I'll survive).

I don't miss crash car PuGs. They're still alive and well!

  21. Thanks folks, I've rejigged the build to squeeze Stamina in instead of Medicine. Currently level 18 and just got Focus.
Brilliant against Vash zombies. Slice and dice em without them ever getting close.

My Acc and End Reducation is probably a bit low in my attacks but once I hit the 30s some cheap invention frankenslotting should sort that out.

Managed to do fine without Mez protection so far, I've been picking my enemies to avoid things like Tsoo and CoT for the mo.

Since I've dropped the Medicine pool I'll probably take the self-rez at 50 just for those "oops" moments.
  22. Hi folks,
Been playing a scrapper for once and having a blast with this combo (finally, a scrapper I enjoy). I've done a levelling build (filled out with basic level 40 IOs).

Do I need Stamina? And am I going to be splatted continiously in the twenties due to lack of defences? Other thoughts?
  23. I've been away for the last 6 weeks and logged back on yesterday, to be faced with a list of characters most of which I'd no idea where I left them or what Auctions etc they had pending. So I was thinking it'd be nice to have a panel on the character selection screen providing some information on what that toon was left doing, such as :

    * How many bids, purchases, items for sale and items sold the character currently has at Wentworths.

    * What Zone they are in.

    * What Day Job location they are currently at, and how close to completion they are towards that badge.

    * Maybe a tab showing their Friends status, and maybe the Global Channel member lists (so you can see at a glance who's about for each toon).
  24. It should give End to everyone healed as far as I know, since its a Heal effect primarily, in the same way that the Performance Shifter PROC will roll for anyone who's End it affects (enemies in the case of Short Circuit, Friends for Speed Boost / AM, self with Stamina).

Since enemies Health isn't affect by Twilight or the Kin heal they shouldn't get a PROC roll.

This is theory though, I don't have one to test with (donations welcome).

+ Recharge Enh/IO's dont effect pet attack speed only how quickly you can respawn them.
The only way to increase attack speed is through buffs such as Speed Boost and Accelerate Metabolism.

[/ QUOTE ]And I'm still pretty sure multi-aspect IOs that affect one property of a pet's attack apply their other effects to the pet's attacks as well. I'm never 100% sure of anything but I could swear slotting stuff like Heal/Rech into Dark Servant, for example, would make it cast Twilight Grasp with a shorter recharge.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I think you'll find that it doesn't.
What you're forgetting is that IO's affect the power that they're slotted into, the pet is the power not the power that the pet is using.

[/ QUOTE ]well that's pretty obviously wrong, otherwise Pet Damage Ios wouldn't work. Also yot can slot Dark Servants with Heal set ios and easily prove they do work, i've done it myself. I asked this myself a while back, the behaviour seems a little random and undefined, from my tests as far as i could tell Set Ios pass their bonuses on, normal Ios don't. But Real Numbers report that they do, along with Sos. It's all rather confusing really and could do with proper official confirmation.

Sorry if i missed something though, i just speed read the thread on a mobile from my hospital bed. Blame the drugs if i'm wrong.

Actually i'd be happy to be wrong if it meant a definate answer.

Edit: those patch notes suggest to me that the new sets highlighted the 'bug' with set Ios and they may have fixed it. Damn it.
