    IO Prices

Yep, my poor teen Brute is poorer than I remember any of my alts being in a long time *sob* The Red Side common and uncommon prices have really normalised (300 for a Luck Charm last night. Boo! Where's my 60k?)
  3. Would it be possible to give a drop-down to pick the theme. I really hate the bright red villains one when you choose to view or build a villain.

How can I work the market better...

Please note that my impatience is a very difficult variable to change.

    :P
Do you not see the correlation between your willingness to pay over the odds to get something immediately and the fact that the prices seem overinflated to you?

In other words : "They saw you coming mate!"

Place realisic bids and wait it out. In the meantime farm Merits / Tickets (merits if you want something specific and don't want to play with the RNG, tickets otherwise) to generate reward rolls (I tend to go for level 35-39 rolls either way). At the mo I'm just doing arcs, earning 20 merits and then random rolling. I tend to just play the game and hope lady luck smiles on me (or at least doesn't poo Snipe Sets down upon me) rather than actually farming or anything. Mostly because of my chronic altisis.

I just like arguing mostly. I don't believe in attacking people (much), more arguing with what they've posted (and sometimes being convinced that they've got a good point after all).

I agree with you, Earth was the better choice between the two, but I disagree with your reasoning as to why, it's more to do with Theme (as per your point below) than your original point about Illusion not working well with Domination, which, even allowing for the standard code rant *could* be dealt with.

And just thematically; you're not 'Dominating' anyone in the sense of holding them in place with your powers, you're just summoning things (I suppose you could say you're Dominating your pets, but let's keep this PG.) A Controller controls their pets (to the extent of summoning them and watching with a dumb grin.)
That's just reiterating the final point of my first post really. It's more to do with the fact that Illusion would step on the toes of Masterminds more than the fact it wouldn't work well with Domination (especially given the amount of changes Domination has gone through since release).

Controllers control their enemies. They certainly don't control their pets (see Fire Imps for examples)

Really I'm not disagreeing with your point about Illusion not being a good fit for Domis, just your reasoning on why it's so.

We're more likely to see Dark Control & Elec Control I reckon. Both have a lot of suitable powers ingame already to build the sets from.

Yep, I really wish we could zoom out much further. As it is any "spash" effects for a power hitting or a Summon kicking in is really hard to see properly.

I think the whole point is that Villains already have 2 ATs with a Melee Primary and 2 with Support Secondaries. This fill that gap in. Otherwise you're just making melee based corrupters really

Plus looking at it from the other PoV Illusion is also the worst for Controllers in terms of using Containment and it doesn't really hurt them too much. Illusion on a Domi would be fine. You could also adjust their Spectral Terror summon to do a one-off AOE Fear Effect if they're in Domination (the actual summoning power, not the pet), it'd be the same amount of work as porting any other Controller -> Domi power to do so really. Actually thinking about it Flash would almost be worthwhile to pick up for a Domi at low levels just because of the Domination Boost. Normally it's rubbish.

Far as I know the only reason Devs are anti-Illusion for Domis is the fact it'd be rather Mastermind like with all those pets and decoys, not for Domination reasons.
  10. Two really nice ideas. I've thought about having Pets as a secondary set before, and giving Defenders melee (or Assult) sets but these are really excellently thought through and fleshed out for each side.

Nice work. Me wants both please Devs.

Yes, I hated my claws/ea brute until 22. Now I just dislike her.
Most Brutes can be pretty disheartening in their teens (like most teenagers really). Like in real life you have to avoid killing them off in their teens and tell yourself that once they hit 20 or 22 they'll become worthwhile individuals

My Stone/Fire Brute was a nightmare to level in his teens. Even fully slotted out with Accuracy & End Reduction it was a real struggle (hurrah for Security Guards and pre-nerf Manic Slammers otherwise I'd never have made it). Now he's actually pretty fun.

Of course like an idiot he's now in mid-30s limbo while I do the painful adolesence run with my Claws/Elec (with the new diff settings it's a bit easier thanks to spamming her AOE and chomping Insps like smarties to keep her running).
  12. I'm pretty useless at IOed builds to be honest. Lots of much better qualified people here than me to look at the build in detail. I just get confused by them mostly

But I do know that the Defense used is always the highest number you have against that attacks types. But some attacks are weird. They might do a certain damage type, but the attack types mightn't reflect the types of damage an attack does. For example Fireball does Fire & Smashing Damage, but its Attack Types are just Fire and AOE. So even if you'd capped Smashing defense it wouldn't count vs Fireball. In your example the Fire Defense would be used vs Fireball as it is higher than the AOE, the Smashing doesn't come into it in terms of defenses.

I've actually kicked people from teams who have over-the-top or annoying to the eyes color schemes and refuse to (or can't) change them. The inky-dark trails on some buffs, the loud pink and gold EKG's on sonic dispersion, burning pink and bright purple combos on standing effects, etc can be a nightmare for others.

If teammates complain about it interfering with gameplay, have a backup costume handy. Preferably one that is just the normal power scheme.
Or, in the case of my Fire/Rad : Anything BUT the default power scheme

In the words of one of my SG mates "Aaaah. Everything is orange and lime".
  14. My lumbering, rotting undead zombie WP brute no longer glows bright yellow! Woo! He was all a bit Twilight until i16. Now with a reddish Dark WP theme which is barely noticable he looks much better.

Bolt Cutter, my Claws/Elec Freakshow Brute has her Elec tinted light yellow and violet and it looks excellent.

Poor Crom Cruaich, my Stone/Fire Brute is currently a horrible, eye-scorching mess though. Must refix his powers. I made a horrible mess of them.

I love the Longbow Ambushes in Mayhems, especially the Eagle Death Squads. Fly about, duck into bank and wait for them to come in all nice and clustered together. "Hello XP bags. I've been expecting you..."

Safeguards really are a poor reflection of the awesome that are Mayhems.

  17. Set bonuses work across forms alright, which is really nice.

Dropping to Human Form just to control, self-buff, occasionally explode and do nasty things to enemy corpses is a really fun way to play a WS too

Starting off in Human Form to control the spawn and Mire (and eventually Eclipse) before switching to Nova to blast them, maybe switching to Dwarf to scrap it out if needed is still my preferred method of soloing.

Traps seems a shoe-in, its tech theme could go with gravity. (I still hope for a gadgety control set, but I'm not holding my breath.)
Grav/Traps would be a sick, sick combo. Set up field of death. Wormhole enemies into field of death. Move on.

In fact given than most Control sets will mez a spawn long enough for you to drop Poison Gas and one or two trip mines most control sets are going to be pretty evil combined with Traps.

Weird thing is Donna is one of the most prolific farmers and IOers EU side (or one of the most vocal). I shudder to think how many other IOed & Purpled out toons she has currently.

So this speil against the high prices is a little weird to be honest. Why not just strip some of the nicer IOs from some of your more unused builds and reuse or sell them to fund your current builds.

For someone like me, who frankenslots quite happily in the game and gets mostly any IO I aim for it's rather ironic for me to have her giving out about high prices

She will speak to one person like she is attached to them, but actually budge her that person would not. We had to actually summon a game-master to complete the mission.

This was cackled over in the server's task-force channel; one wit responded with, "haven't they done enough to that TF already?"

I'll never run it again, I can tell you that.
If you check Castles posts in the Dev Digest he says this is a bug, not an intended change.
  21. How about Thugs/Storm? You said Storm was working pretty sweetly, Thugs gives you decent single-target & AOE Damage (better than bots before level 32), 4 to 5 ranged Henchmen (the Arsonist is "ranged but still will run in to punch things") plus your Bruiser running about and tanking for you. Keeping him and the Arsonist alive can be a bit of trouble but O2 Boost is a quick casting & recharging heal which should help. You and the Thugs & Enforcers can hide in Hurricane shooting outwards and you get Freezing Rain to make the cone AOEs even more potent.

I *think* that only applies if your attack drains End from your enemies. So in Power Sink or any Elec attack it does that.

You could be right on the "What is the Target" issue though, it may not give you End at all. It's one of those weird undefined quirks of how this proc works with Target rules where it's hard to know what it's going to do.

Even more reason to stick it in Stamina or another +Recovery power instead.
  25. Both will have a decent chance of proccing from the AOEs.

The Performance Shifter isn't really needed in Dark Consumption though IMO, simply because it's cheaper to slot for End Mod and that's usually enough. All it needs are 2 enemies to fully recharge your End. Best place for the Shifter is really a +Recovery power where it has a chance of proccing when you need it.

Soul Drain is up around every 60 seconds when recharge is fully slotted and is a good place for the Chance for Build-Up proc. It won't self-stack but the AOE gives it a decent chance for proccing. It'll have about a 23% chance to proc against 5 targets, and 40% against 10.
