Going to use thunderclap with wormhole, at least that's the plan. I think. Bah long way off
[/ QUOTE ]
Yep I'd use Thunderclap if I had some form of immobilize to stop them wandering off as they do. I suppose Snowstorm would slow their staggers down but they'd still scatter. -
Mine are forced into suicide. But i think thats always the case with Zombies and Grave knights. Otherwise they just stand there throwing up like an Olsen twin after dinner.
And if they don't die how am i supposed to rip the soul out of one and bring forth Celine Dion? -
Saw it in action last night when teamed with a Dominator (Hi Shimer).
I think it's decent enough to throw down for extra squishy protection. So the close combat melee types (I include my Necro/Dark MM in that since generally I'm doing heal-and-runs into melee to keep the corpses running) don't really benefit as they move out of range too quickly.
But the backline of corrupters, dominators and ranged masterminds seem to benefit since they can stick close and blast away.
It's probably the only power available to a Domintor to heal themselves. That has to be a good thing now that its been improved. -
Tornado from the Storm set. Dirty horrible power. Don't let anyone say otherwise. I've seen people use it in missions too. Completely useless. Like recruiting yourself the worst AOE Blaster in the world, blindfolding them and then telling them that 5 Freak Tanks are chasing their character. Wind em up and watch em go.
Had it for a while as I thought it might be alright solo when the mobs are thin enough that it won't cause too much aggro. It doesn't even do decent damage! Thank god for the I5 respec.
I don't bother with Thunderclap either but at least it would be useful. . -

Ive only been playing a tank in my spare time, and I must admit I was suprised at how easily they drop.
Albion flame is a I/fire tanker ,and he cant take on the same odds thay my blaster , empath, controller or scrapper could at that lvl.
I expected to be able to take serious punishment and leap into combat and mash hellions to pulp (like my scrapper but with less withdrawing to heal and longer fights due to less damage).but after my third trip to the hos in Atlas I've given up playing him for a while.. Hell Now I understand why my empath ends up welded on to the teams tanker on missions
[/ QUOTE ]
Yep I've given up on my flame/stone tank too. Just too boring nowadays and much less soloable than my Controller. How weird is that? -
As mentioed above Tar Patch lowers enemy Damage Resisance. It also slows them. This means you can blast them for more damage per hit and they won't be able to close with you as quickly.
Howling Twilight is situational really (saw a great use of it in PvE yesterday though). But for PvP I think you could probably drop it.
TPing the Dark Servant might be worthwhile. He's got a -accuaracy aura around him plus he casts a single-target version Darkest Night. So if you TP'd him beside a foe and then Darkest Night them they should have their accuracy floored. Great for stopping a Controller from Holding you (if you do it quick enough...)
And Shadow Fall isn't a full invis. It makes you harder to see but it won't hide you completely. Nice power though. -
I've seen lots of builds where they focus on their primaries and ignore their secondaries. A fellow Necro/Dark with all the Necro powers and only the Heal from Dark! No Tar Patch or Darkest Night or anything.
But to be honest there's not much you can do except maybe show your own powers off. So I'd Tar Patch and Darkest Night mobs and maybe drop a comment like "Man I love Darkest Night. Look, they can't hit anything at all. ".
I basically spam heals once I've ordered the meatsquad in and dropped the two debuffs. But if anyone shouted at me for not taking Howling Twilight I'd laugh them out of it. Much better to all be alive thanks to debuffs etc than in need of a res and debt.
Plus its early days really. You're going to meet people who are playing Corrupters as Blasters for a while. But you should outlevel them or they'll respec when they've seen how great the other powers they ignored are...
And yep Flaming Shields are great. Teamed with a /Thermal Corrupter who flamed all my zombies as we went. Looked so cool and made such a difference that the other non-necro MM on the team was commenting on how tough they were. -

Well just to throw my two cents in...
My gravity/energy controller is really pretty powerful if you ask me. I could probably hold my own in damage compared to a corruptor pretty well between propel/power blast, and I get control on the side.
I don't solo a lot though, I duo with a mastermind who can keep a good chunk of aggro off me. This is probably what'll save me when I get crushing field and need to use it. Then again I haven't wished for Crushing Field except against foes that are woefully inadequate at range and way strong in melee (damn trolls).
Plus you know... Domination is good.
Dominators IMHO just should be played more blasty and less controllerish and they're fine. Of course, I took the controller set that has propel, that probably helps me personally.
EDIT: To clarify. Dominators are not controllers, don't even try to play one like one. You get a lot of damage dealing capabilities and domination, use them.
[/ QUOTE ]
Was thinking of a Grav/Psi controller over the weekend. The damage combos would mean you'd never have an enemy whose resistant to all your attacks. Plus Psi has a long range so it might keep you out of trouble. -
[ QUOTE ]
I have actually found that the timing and effectiveness of the Dominator powers is fine - you can still chain single-target powers for perma-holding (against one target) of equal level or up to 1 or 2 levels higher, as long as you don't miss.
What I find disturbing is that if you use any AoE holds, you are generally in major trouble because of the aggro it generates against you. With no Tank taunts to pull the mobs off, life expectancy is very short...leading me to no longer use my AoE stuff except in specific situations.
[/ QUOTE ]
I really don't want to be a Character whose raison d'etre is to lock down one or two mobs though. I should be able to deal with a lot more than than. I think the Damage side of things is fine, no issues with that at all but the lack of control I currently have is very depressing. Maybe when I can afford DOs for Flashfire it may make a difference. -

O2 boost has some nice secondry effects aside from the actual heal. If you're playing PvE definitely O2 boost.
PvPers will tell you to take Gale, and if you're someone who likes PvP yourself its probably worth listening to them. Taking Gale in PvE is a good way to get kicked out of teams (memory casts back to a pick up team, several "please stop using gale" cries from the 2 tanks and 3 scrappers in the team of 6 before we decided we didn't actually need a defender THAT much)
[/ QUOTE ]
Yep, Trigger-happy low level Stormies give us a bad name. I've had to tell people not to do it too. "But it keeps them away from us" is usually the response.
But if you really want to give Storm a bad name pick Tornado and fire it off whenever you can. FTW!!!
(Thats a joke. Don't do this at home kids. Use of Tornado makes the Baby Je cry)
So pick O2 and be glad you get the choice. Pretty good for unmezzing or emergency heals. On small teams it might even do as the main heal (until you need to heal yourself).
They really should give it a tiny AOE effect so you could heal yourself too. -
My Dominator certainly feels somewhat underpowered. I can't believe they only have 65% effectiveness of Controller powers. Was wondering why Flashfire only dazed them for seconds... Was looking forward to level 18 and the group hold but this 65% thing combined with the hits AOE holds took in I5 makes me think it mightn't be worth it.
Also since I'm Fire/Thorns the AOE generates so much hate I die in seconds. And since I've no form of heal and feel bad about going "Heal me" every 5 seconds I've just sort of given up on him as he's little fun.
Personally I think the Dominator primaries should be reworked to throw a heal or two and a self-buff or two in. -
Yep. Steamy Mist is 20% Dmg Res for those types.
It plus Group Invis plus Hurricane is the reason I said Ill/Storm offers pretty good fellow-squishy protection. -

Opera FTW!!
My boss has a terrible case of "MSIE compatibility only" with his sites. Of course when a client rings up and asks why it looks like a train wreck in his Firefox browser muggins gets drafted to fix it up.
And do you think he'd use stylesheets? Nope. <style> blocks on every page. Each with its own little difference. Bah. -

Indeed. HTML is a structural language and should contain nothing that influences your design. All design should be external in a CSS file - http://www.w3schools.com is a great start if you want to learn, then head over to http://www.csszengarden.com and see what you can do with CSS!

Indeed. Such a lovely site.
Justin, if you need a hand in any way let us know. I'd be happy to help out for one. -
Or a */Dark Scrapper or Brute with some of his shields up and no Scrapper/brute in the middle.
-
lol. great little story Demon.
Always wondered what was going through those lil guys heads as they scurried around. -

Homesite is a v user friendly experience, used by most agencies and companies I've worked for, although Dreamweaver has better version control. Both are now macromedia products. As a coder, I prefer Homesite (although I believe they've recently bundled Homesite with Dreamweaver 8)
[/ QUOTE ]
Yep Homesite is (was?) great but I haven't used it in ages. Generally I just code sites directly. I'm using JEdit at the moment (you'll need a Java Runtime installed on your machine) mainly because I'm a JSP / Servlet programmer so I feel I have to support my language and because since it's Java I can use it on my Linux work PC and my Windoze home one.
I gave up on Dreamweaver ages ago as its easier to code by hand anyway and I'm used to using Stylesheets to control the layout of my site anyway so I don't really need WYSIWYG.
WYSIWYG lies a bit anyway... -

Incinerate : I had a Fire/Fire dominator in beta for about 4 levels. This is not the Tanker secondary power incinerate, Tanker incinerate does completely DoT. It is more like a high damage version of the Tanker secondary power scorch, frontloaded damage followed by DoT.
Combustion : Assuming is it like the tnaker secondary it is a 15 foot radius PbAoE with decent but not impressive damage. A staple attack of my Inv/Fire tank.
Impale : Assuming is it like the Scrapper/Stalker power this is a good damage ranged attack ( 2nd best in spines primary ) with an Immob and -fly. Small DoT afterwards too. This is one of my favourite powers from the Spines set.
Ripper : Assuming is it like the Scrapper power this is a good damage ( best in spines powerset ) melee cone with a strong knockdown effect. It has a large slow effect and a long DoT. The melee cone is small and the only guaranteed way of hitting 2 people is to aim at the back one and stand with the front one in between. I have hit 3 enemies with it a few times.
[/ QUOTE ]
Impale is just like the Scrapper one. Same animation (always reminds me of pitching a baseball for some reason) and everything.
Fling Thorns is a great wide-area cone attack. Seems of have an arc of 90-120 degrees. Of course since it's AOE it's bound to get your enemies a little upset but thats what your holds are there for. -

I started my new toon last night as a break from my main (Count Karl Von Seckt) on Defiant and would like to make a couple of points.
So far taken: Fire blast, Fireball, Rain of Fire, Twilight Grasp and Darkest Night. Next pick will be Tar Patch. I can't disagree with your rationale on getting Tar Patch early, not my choice mind, and it wouldn't pay for us all to be the same.
Have you thought about six slotting Tar Patch (3x Recharge, 1x Slow and 2x To Hit Debuffs) it might have a real impact but I don't have the figures for the debuff component.
I also think that Rain of Fire will become a fantastic Corruptor power. On its own it's pretty mediocre but I am hoping that in the final quarter of a fight with the benefits of Scourge it could become a real doomsday weapon.
[/ QUOTE ]
It's a Dmg Resist debuff, not to-hit. This + the slow is the reason it's so nice with Rain of Fire.
[Edited : dmg resist not defense resist of course]
-
I'm playing a Fire / Thorns.
Does Hotfeet suck as much as it seems to? I took it and really wish I hadn't. I'm also toying with the idea of not getting stamina for the moment but I'd like to know other peoples views. I do find myself running out of stamina but generally only in Panic situations.
And does Flashfire have a base -accuracy to it? -

isnt this exactly the reason Marvel are suing cryptic/ncsoft?
[/ QUOTE ]
They're more or less suing them for not taking enough steps to protect Marvels copyrighted materials. Oddly DC don't seem to mind as much.
But if you know that Marvel are well into releasing computer games too one might foolishly come to the conculsion they are suing because the game is better than any of the crud they've managed to produce.
Or are planning to... -
Good choice. Hurricane is a great power.
Spent last night TPing around Warburg with Steamy Mist, Hurricane and Group Invis on. Would have felt very safe if the place hadn't been deserted anyway -
As a Necro/Dark I've found Dominators handy for teaming with. Especially */Thorns because of their Lockdown + AOE damage combo.
But teamed with an Energy / Thermal corrupter on Saturday and we rocked . Flaming zombies look really cool & are much tougher, they are ranged so your minions don't get in their way and your debuffs & heals are complementry too. -
Wouldn't you be the one with "The Next Big Thing" or some other badge title under your name?
And from what I remember Minion names only show up above their heads when you roll over or click them. Yours show up all the time.
Although I'm unsure about PvP. -
Seems a waste of time. Had a Plant Dom with my zombies yesterday and it didn't seem to make much difference.
And looks terrible. Far too big and is that just a Toxic mist for foliage?
