It's pretty easy to make copyright characters if you want (after all someone like the Hulk is just a big green guy). But it's against the rules and the character will be renamed. You'll eventually get a ban if you keep doing it.
But The Thing was so realistic....and the name was really "The Thing"....how did they do that stone effect ?
One of the costume pieces has a stone effect...I forget the name, but it's near the end of the list.
I saw some modified costumes on do you know how this works ?

Wouldnt those only appear on your own screen, and not appear to other players?
those "mods" are plain client-side, it changes only what YOU see, other players keep seeing the original item/outfit. Imho they are close to "not allowed", since its a altering of the software..

actually the thing is not the first time he appears noone prolly knows Firewall the first EU level 50 Tanker who was member of TC now currently in CoV but he had the thing costume in its fiery edition since he was a fire tanker but he was exactly the same 
that costume is not hard to make since the costume editor allows a pretty close match
I guess if you took Stone Minions costume, made it HUGE and changed the colour you'd have The Thing, not hard to do a stone looking guy.

They're more or less suing them for not taking enough steps to protect Marvels copyrighted materials. Oddly DC don't seem to mind as much.
But if you know that Marvel are well into releasing computer games too one might foolishly come to the conculsion they are suing because the game is better than any of the crud they've managed to produce.
