Gale or O2 boost?
Wow tough choice there both Cr4p,I hate to say this but I would go for gale, its ok as a panic button and fun as hell to go to talos and blow big groups off of the cliff tops
id say O2 boost but only as ive used both and gale although useful to remove melee mobs/peeps, boost is useful for a small version of clear mind + a little heal, can go a long way to aid an empath, but ure choice anywho
Both are great
I assume your a defender.... and if you plan on teaming go for o2 boost, will help your team, although its a crappy heal its a heal none the less.
If you go on to move to PvP switch to gale.
Tough choice. What is your secondary? If its energy, I would pick gale. If its electric or dark I would prolly take O2.
A Paragon Defender
secondary will be energy, Im a fan of smashing stuff lol
How exactly does gale complement energy blasts, and is it a lot better now that theres ragdoll physics?
gale = knockback, energy secondary effect = knockback, gale +energy= lots and lots of knockback
Somewhat influenced by the fact that I really prefer teaming, but I'd go O2 Boost - sure, it's a crap heal, but that's because it's not just a heal. It's also a minute long sleep/disorient/endurance drain resist. Not the most useful thing ever, but it's handy to be able to get people who've used an awaken back up and running immediately. I've also used it to good effect to stop teammates from having their endurance drained quite so easily. It's also nice against enemies who can do AoE sleeps - like Lost bosses; sleeps aren't the worst thing, since you get woken back up by heals or attacks, but it's really annoying if you have a lot of toggles running and it happens repeatedly. The rest of the team staying awake the whole time can make all the difference in a tough fight. And in really dire situations, you can keep someone alive with it.
If you do pick up Gale, be careful with it. When I'm playing as my Storm Defender, I find there's one powerset I really can't stand playing with: other Stormies. Playing as a Stormy, you want to bunch things together, so you can throw down Snow Storm and slow the whole lot, or hit them all with Freezing Rain (which is a lovely, lovely power as long as you know when not to use it). Gale will spread everything out if you use it poorly. It will blow them out of your rain, it will split them up from your anchor mob. It will also annoy people you're teaming with if you randomly gale things around and split them all up, or gale their sleeping mobs and wake them up for no reason. It can certainly be handy though - galing mobs into a wall to keep them down so they can't attack is great, especially in a bad situation. I'm really quite fond of knockback, just not when it's used poorly.
A lot of Stormies (especially those with is as a Controller secondary from what I've noticed - probably because they have to take it) seem to just use Gale indescriminately. It's almost as if people have this mentality that since they have a power, they have to use it. As long as you don't fall into that, take whichever you like more.
O2 Boost is an awesome power! Just wait till you start facing Malta and Carnies...everyone will love you for it!
O2 boost has some nice secondry effects aside from the actual heal. If you're playing PvE definitely O2 boost.
PvPers will tell you to take Gale, and if you're someone who likes PvP yourself its probably worth listening to them. Taking Gale in PvE is a good way to get kicked out of teams (memory casts back to a pick up team, several "please stop using gale" cries from the 2 tanks and 3 scrappers in the team of 6 before we decided we didn't actually need a defender THAT much)
"Well, they found my diary today.
They were appropriately appalled
at the discovery of the eight victims
They're now putting it all together.
Women wrapped in silk
with one leg missing
Eight legs, one body, silk,
spider, brilliant!"

Yep, Trigger-happy low level Stormies give us a bad name. I've had to tell people not to do it too. "But it keeps them away from us" is usually the response.
But if you really want to give Storm a bad name pick Tornado and fire it off whenever you can. FTW!!!
(Thats a joke. Don't do this at home kids. Use of Tornado makes the Baby Je cry)
So pick O2 and be glad you get the choice. Pretty good for unmezzing or emergency heals. On small teams it might even do as the main heal (until you need to heal yourself).
They really should give it a tiny AOE effect so you could heal yourself too.
I have O2 boost on my storm/elec. I have no need for gale as I have hurricane which is far better for protection. The added res to sleep, stun and end drain also useful for protecting the part of the team that doesnt have mez protection.
Storm is a long list of powers you have to be carefull about using. I think mist and O2 are the notable ones that you can use at any time without worry.
And thats why I love the set, It makes me think, maneuver and then use the fun powers.
And some good news, tornado currently seems to be refusing to go more than 100 yards or so away from me. Still needs a lot of consideration before use. Still obscenely powerfull. Still very random.
Thanks for all the help, Ive decided a probably will go O2 Boost. I can always respec if I dont like it
Cheers all
Hey folks,
Im thinking of starting a stormie and planned out a kind of template build on the hero planner. Hit a hitch when trying to decide between the 2 set starters (dont really have room in my build for both): which would I be better off choosing, gale or O2 boost? I plan to team and solo, so I cant use that to decide.
Any thoughts welcome....
