    My first MM

Bots are easily the most common MM type. Loads of them around. Since they're ranged they tend to last a bit longer than necros zombies. They make really annoying noises when running about too.

Necros are mostly melee based. They tend to die more often than the bots but make a great alpha-strike absorber (since you can heal or recast them if they die). Also Necro gets an extra pet in the Spirit which is nice. With Necro you're better off mapping commands so you can point-and-click move them about as the Knights have great melee attacks but hang back and use the Dark Blasts a bit too much

As for secondaries Force Fields tends to be less hands on than Dark. You bubble everyone up beforehand but in battle you use it very little. Given that a MMs primary means you're doing few direct attacks yourself usually you tend to have time on your hands in battle where you are doing very little.

Dark however has no buffs really (Shadow Fall is all), it is a debuff and control set mainly. In combat its great fun as you're healing, dropping Tar Patchs to slow, Darkest Night to debuff accuracy and you've a great Cone Fear power in Fearsome Gaze. Plus you get a superb pet (not henchman, you can't order him about) at level 38 who heals and floors accuracy.

Personally I went with Necro / Dark but I think Mercs/Dark could be a lot of fun too, especially since the heal is probably a bit better for them.
  2. I really wish you lot would stop going on about Ice/Dark.

It's making my altitis itch!! Must... resist... creating... new... character.

    Inspirations

Programatically the answer is probably to give em cool-down times (in PvP zones only) so they can be used tactically but they can't be abused as much by people who've more slots.

    hos in base??

Little insight into just how sordid my mind is: I read that, not as hospital, but as...'easy' women.

Me too. Surely villains should be allowed to make Houses of Negotiable virtue

"Oh fine. I'll start my own base. With Blackjack and hookers. In fact, forget the blackjack and the base".
  5. I use ctrl+lbutton (lctrl?) instead as lshift is generally used as the Teleport clicky.

Holding the wrong one down and clicking can lead to great fun
  6. Thats what I thought, they were lazy/cunning about it. Technically double damage should have done and then double healback should have occured but I guess it was overpowered that way.
  7. Oh I knew that alright.

My point was that when contained SW generates 2 different damage figures, the usual and a lower one for the containment damage. I was wondering why it is lower, is it because Containment doesn't count enhances or is it something to do with the healback?

The Phants decoy has healback too and I think its a much higher %
  8. PA doesn't work with Containment afaik.
  9. Dark has Shadow Fall for stealthy needs though. Would you need invis too?
  10. Darkest Night and Tar Patch are two of your best power, must haves IMHO. I got them as soon as I could. I'd get Darkest Night at 20 & TP at 24 (because I love Shadow Fall). Although I love Fearsome Stare too.

Personally I don't think MMs need 2 blasting powers. Thats what goons are for.

Life Drain is a terrible power when you have Twilight Grasp.
  11. Spectral Wounds does work with Containment alright. When contained you do normal damage and then a lesser amount thru containment. I don't know if that lesser amount is because enhances don't add to containment damage or if it is due to the healback Spectral Wounds allows the mob.
  12. 1 hold, 2 immobilises.

    Plus Hot Feet
  13. Nowadays you might get away with Stamina, especially if you pick Group Invis instead of Superior.

That said I still have both Stamina and Haste. Haste is useful for getting Flash, PA and Group Invis back up ASAP. I'm using Teleport as travel power so Stamina is useful for it and the end-heavy toggles+powers in my secondary (Steamy Mist, Hurricane and Thunderstorm).
  14. You get your AOE hold before the other sets too, which was great for me as it was pre I5 when I was levelling

Pity AOE holds aren't the best nowadays.

The utility of the invis powers is handy at those low levels too. Especially for getting around the Hollows / Steel / Skyway.

Does Illusion do more single target damage with Spectral Wounds than the other sets since Illusion has no immobile powers?
  15. Personally I live without Deceive. But thats mainly because there wasn't enough room for it to fit into my Illusion / Storm build.

I did get Flash as I find you can alternate PA / Flashes between groups when in a team. First group gets PAd and next is Flashed. Of course Flash is probably more useful in my case for Flash + Freezing Rain combos.

Spectral Terror is a great power imo. Originally I'd read the old builds when Fear was a useless power and skipped but nowadays its great.

I'd always go with Group Invis over Superior since I prefer to have the option of buffing my teamies too. Should make you pretty popular for team, combined with Speed Boost.

Personally I think Siphon Speed is vital. Thats with my Dark Kinetics corrupter. The lack of surpression makes it for me. Mightn't be as important for a Controller though.

    Dark Kinetics

So still plugging away with this build. So much that Veloth is now my main villain, being more fun than the Mastermind he was designed to complement.

Dark Pit I think is something you need to heavily slot for it to be majorly useful. I took it anyway and it is useful for getting aggro off your back for a few seconds.

In work so no build really available but so far I've taken all primaries (wish I'd skipped the Snipe though as I rarely use it...) and all secondaries bar Repel which I've no need for (I don't PvP). Siphon Speed is a great power and I hope to slot for stacking it ASAP (slotted for +Acc at the mo as theres nothing as annoying as it missing).

Skipped the Travel powers (well actually got Hover and was getting Fly when Mr JingleJet appeared) which could be slightly painful until level 28. Hopefully thats not too far away though.
  17. Gens stats are about right.

Around 500-600 villains at the busy time of the evenings from what I remember.

I've started using Global Chat to LFT on heroes. Villains it's easy to get a team.

*Edit* : An SG could sort your teaming issues, assuming they aren't all off villaining. Also if you find a few good people ask them do they mind if you Global Friend them.

    MY OWN MM CLASS

Was thinking about this yesterday. Love to see some bugs as MM pets.

Big bugs. With lots of spikey bits. The minions would be melee with Spines attack and the first Thorns attack as the upgrade.

Lieuts would be support with some form of healing and minor debuffs. Maybe cut-down Poison or Rad powers or something.

The Boss should be a giant thresing machine of a thing a la Starship Trooper bugs with Katana slash attack and AOE Spines / Thorns attacks.
I reversed the lieuts and boss so they aren't just a Necro copy.

For their other powers I guess Spines/Thorn type attacks. Maybe give them a Cone attack as the 3rd attack power. The level 18 power could be Carrion bugs which scurry around devouring nearby corpses and eminating Endurance regens from them.

Oh, and slotting Knockback distance in anything to me seems a waste, there's little point. Especially for Lightening Storm, is there any point in having anything but Accuracy, Damage or End Drain in this?

Range, as its a static pet.
  21. Dark / Kinetics is a real support build to be honest.

However I'd say that Support != Healer. I always let people know at the start of mishes that :
    (a) You're going to get Speed Boosted unless you tell me not to
    (b) Shout if you get mezzed or slept
    (c) My heal is an AOE centered around MY target. So if you want healing you need to stand beside my target. Plus it misses occasionally.

Of course my target tends to be the one the rest of the meleers are on anyway so it rarely comes up but I don't tolerate "HEAL FFS". I'll either leave at the end of the mish or plonk you to the bottom of my priority list for healing and buffs in the future.

In big teams I focus on buffing people, containment with Tentacles, DP and Nightfall and healing, in that order.

Stick with Dark Kinetcs. Once you hit 20 you won't be able to move for Team offers and if you find some decent Brutes you'll be gods together. I've played with some great team-minded Brutes and its a blast.
  22. I'll happily patrol with Carni too.

Although really I'm better providing strobes and smoke machine effects for the dance floor

Ooops. Not strobes actually, come to think of it. Keep forgetting there'll be villains there... Maybe I should patrol after all

I'll be wearing my ridiculously jolly Xmas outfit though

Ah that Don't do it! If you have a handy scrapper or tanker about just go hide behind 'em. That's where Stormies get their bad rep in a nutshell - blowing everyone's targets all over the place just as they lined up their big hitter melee attack

    [/ QUOTE ]
Although I used to team with an Inv Tank who loved my Gales sending Freak Tanks back into melee with him when they were chasing me.

Gale Tennis is fun, especially if you can find a nrg blaster to play against
  24. Carnifax

    Why?

I'm in the same boat Jade. Stuck on 39 for ages now. Really must stop playing those dastardly villains and get Carni doing the AV missions in the 40s.
