Superman's powers don't get along very well with magic, IIRC. He'd probably have to go on the 25-day DL with Flu-Like Symptoms.

I always think of him first in those beer commercials he was in when I was a kid. They always ran during Wide World of Sports.
"Says here the winner is... Bubba Smith." -
In accordance with the Praetorian Principle of Opposites, it would naturally follow that Ghost Recluse would be a friend to all children and the idol of ladies everywhere. I approve.

Quote:I doubt it's a blunder. That kind of thing is classic cross-marketing. You May Also Like...It is the webstaff including non-Aion subscribers. While I'm not discounting the PlayNC master account is vulnerable (Arcanaville has a strong professional opinion on that subject), this just seems the typical blunder of the PlayNC staff.
Note that I make no warranty as to whether it's a good idea; but I bet it's entirely on purpose. -

I think the test server's having a closed beta right now, though, so if you haven't been invited to that, you won't be able to use it.

Quote:It did have separate sleeves, I already corrected myself on that. (Color 2 on the jacket itself was for the shirt.) Pretty sure they weren't just the regular "Sleeves" Gloves option, though. Different shape; they had a cut and texture that matched the jacket. You can see it here:Photon, I think you are misremembering. The "spandex man's suit" top still needed to use the Sleeves version of the gloves to look correct and since that's a separate piece, it has it's own colors.

It doesn't matter what kind of characters are in a team if the right players are involved. No, seriously, it just doesn't matter. You get a group of people who are here to have fun and not get too hung up on stuff, it's all good. Not only don't you need to spend hours carefully fitting the thing together, you'll probably be better off if you don't. That way even when you hit a combination that works particularly well, it'll be a complete surprise and that much more fun because of it. All Tanks? You'll get things done slowly, but it'll be a riot. All Blasters? You'll die a lot, but it'll be a riot. Complete and utter mismatches of all kinds? There will be confusion, you'll get things done slowly and probably die a lot, but it'll be a riot.

I keep misreading the subject line as "Rularuu's Harbinger Wins" and thinking, That would make for kind of a short game.

... of one of those foam rubber beer/soda-can cozy things that I found in my father's kitchen last year.

Is this in any way a surprise? It may be the least out-of-character feature of this premise.
Also, wow, a What If...? that doesn't inevitably lead, from even the most trivial of background changes, to the end of the world? That's unusual. -
Quote:Part 1 of your suggestion I'm down with, 'cos I like women in drag. (Well, basically, that's what it is.) Part 2, however, do not want. As evidenced by the fact that they do not tint your character's vision in first-person mode, the goggles really DO do nothing.I think it's been suggested numerous times by us female players that they should just once give US the nifty long, tailored jackets, and give you guys the hoochie-mama-sex-on-a-stick outfit.
Anyway, I suspect you may have misapprehended the game's primary target demographic. Basically, if you feel as above, you're not in it. :) -
Quote:Nope, I wasn't in the City of Heroes beta. I'd never heard of the game until a month or two after it went live. (According to NCsoft's account management widget my game account was created in May 2004.) The one I'm talking about was that way until... I forget when they added the first batch of those other jackets. At least the first couple of Issues. Though I did misstate how the color selection worked above. Color 1 was the jacket and tie, Color 2 was the shirt; the lower sleeves were a separate part, like Gloves etc., that could be set to a different color from the rest of the jacket for no evident reason.I am assuming you mean in Beta, since the character I created a few days after launch didn't have that particular look. His current costume in slot 1 hasn't changed since they added auras, since I am not sure the parts to recreate it are in the system anymore. And I don't like the looks of the newer suit jackets much.
I mocked up a character wearing it once, with the lower sleeves set to white. I guess I must have known that seven years later I'd have to prove that such a thing had once existed.

Wow. This thread got lame in a hurry. Did someone seriously play the Malthusian Nightmare card?
Cave Johnson, we're done here. -
Heh, the original suitjacket used - bafflingly - the primary color for the body of the jacket, the tie, and the sleeves down to just below the elbow, and the secondary color for... the rest of the sleeves. No, really. I am not making this up.

Just to warn you, on this particular topic, most of the feedback you're likely to receive is of the "high-pitched screech in the earphones" variety.

Honestly? I don't think Batman works in live-action, full stop. Burton got closest.

Quote:Or, if you're being less diplomatic: the old-school hero contacts spend a lot of time just wasting your damn time. :)Hero-side has a choice of two starting areas (both very clean-looking, but with older graphics), with five possible contacts in each (depending on your character's Origin), but the mission arcs (questlines) they send you on are on the dull side and all rather similar (not to mention often indirect).
"Go and see the security chief for Perez Park."
"Go speak to the War Zone Coordinator for Siren's Call."
"Hey, have you heard about the Hollows? Yeah, well, you will."
"Run to the far side of Brickstown and back for no reason at all. Chop chop!"*
and so forth.
* I may have made this one up. -

Well, yeah, it's not ideal, but I was mainly aiming for ease of implementation. Using parts that are already on the shelf circumvents a lot of the Standard Code Rant, and besides, the power is so goofy anyway that I figured, why not. :)
-
Oh! And there's that. I didn't know about that. Kind of lame, actually.

There's that thing that pops up at the very beginning of character creation that asks if you want to make a hero, Praetorian, or villain. Heroes start in Paragon City, villains start in the Rogue Isles, Praetorians start in Praetoria. Heroes and villains don't have access to all the archetypes, though, so if for instance you wanted a Mastermind, you're going to have to be a Praetorian or a villain. So far. I hear rumors they're thinking about changing that in some future update. Maybe when the games goes to freemium, I dunno. I've only sort of been half paying attention to that hype.
