Ahoy forumdwellers.
It's about the time that I dusted off the Captain, but he could do with a bit of tweaking. I need to get rid of TP because it is doing my nut in, and generally getting him into shape.
So, here is the proposed build.
I'm not a huge fan of irradiate, but figure it's -def has got to be useful for AV fights/big spawns. I really don't like electron haze or neutron bomb. However, I am a fan of aim, and the leadership pool, so if anyone has any idea of how to get it in, that would be cracking.
This is a respec build at 35, for PvE mainly, although the occasional foray into the zones isn't out of the question.

Hmm - wasn't aware that he had never showed - I'll go back through my logs of the teams.
If that is the case, I'll post an amended list. -
1 Mighty Saguaro/Mr Nice/Cold Penetration vs 2 Empath/DARK MAN X/Harvest Moon
7 Max Thunder/Spawnus/Discharge vs 3 Spines Sparrow/Carnifax/Hidden Healer
6 Shadow Fury/Tridento/Smirk vs 4 Katie Ann/Archelon/Columna
5 Anath/Troke/WickedOne vs 8 Eat Static/Elerith/Omega MCX
10 Soaring Dragon/SinghMC/Starstorm vs 9 Captain Skyfire/Red Hot Rock/Vamos
Dax Ferdas, Serophina + sub vs Orion Star,Envoy + sub
As I would prefer people to progress by fighting, I won't be giving byes to the 4 people above. Instead, I'll ask for two subs to post here to join these bouts, purely to allow the match to go ahead. I will assign the subs randomly ahead of the match, and post it here when I have the two names (+their powersets).
Unless you urgently want to sit in a pub garden after the england match, please try and show up at the usual time - Indicate in this thread if you are going to have difficulties, so I can keep track of when the matches will take place, so I can log in. -
Columna, Imaginary (sub for discharge), Troke beat WickedOne, Mr. Nice and Empath.(6-1 AFAIK)
Carnifax, Anata, Elerith beat Serophina, Plight Trawler (sub for Harvest Moon) and Coin. (13-0)
Max Thunder, Sibos (for Smirk), and Captain Skyfire lost to Red Hot Rock, Hidden Healer and Soaring Dragon.
Orion Star, Starstorm and Power Lord (replacement for Mesmer) lost to Spawnus, Eat Static and Projectra (20-0)
Archelon was awarded a bye, as the scheduled match was abandoned.
Herulus (sub for the DC victim SinghMC), Mazos (Sub for Clawed Man) and Spines Sparrow (sub for Tridento as he had to go after they had crashed several times) lost to Katie Ann, Vamos and Mighty Saguaro.
Spines Sparrow was awarded a bye as the opponents for this match did not show up.

Draw will be up in a bit... A big thanks to those who turned up! -
* Runs screaming from thread...
I knew defiant was "different"Well, I'll post the results/draw in a short while, once I've had a brew and woken up.
-
Calling it off remains very much the least favoured option in my book, but thanks for the support QiSnake. I know everyone is excited by i7 release, and the World Cup isn't going to make it easy, but we can still get there if people who can turn up do so.
-
I don't know about doomed to fall apart, but certainly issue 2 of 3vP will be vastly refined (more organisers, better organisation, better rules regarding subs etc). There's still some fun PvP to be had in the competition, so if you can make it, please do so - don't just write it off.
-
*goes and cries.
Why can't it be easy! Why! /em shakefist!
I don't know what to say. I'll have a chat with Xanthus, see what we can cook up as a suggestion. Speaking from gut instinct, I don't have a problem with people having their matches early/later by prior arrangement, and nominating a member from each team to send results to the appropriate judge, but I can still see problems with that.
Thanks for raising it Pyra. -
I'm sure people won't mind if I do a spot of random tweakings to prevent relationship discord
Leave it with me, I'll see what the magic 8-ball has to say on the subject, and post some amended fixtures
And it is entirely random - I put a pile of numbers on the floor and allowed my cat to pick them - whichever she stood on, got picked. -
Ok Mesmer, I'll arrange a replacement. Thanks for confirming.
I'll take a look at the team 8 draw in a bit. The union draw should be up soon - Xanthus was just finishing a mission then he was going to do it. -
BAM!
Ok then pop pickers - here we go.
Any comments, questions - either PM me, or post here.
If you know you can't make it, let me know as soon as possible so I can sort out substitutes. -
Unfortunately Real Life > Cap on this one.
I'm doing the draw for defiant.... NOW! -
Well, I'm just nipping to B&Q (em groan), then I'll be back to do the defiant draw. So expect it up laterer on today.
Not sure about Union's draw, as that is Xanthus' thing. -
Oh, very well done there! (to steal a bind
)
-
any time.
I'd also recommend doing some 'shorts' in between, just to practice different things. I'm working on a very ambitious project, but need to really up my knowledge and camera skills to get it as polished as i'd like.
Keep on truckin', look forward to number 2. -
My EM/EA is at 26, and I tried him out in RV to see how he would cope at 40.
For PvE, Barrage is a great fury builder - better damage than brawl, similar end cost, similar activation/recharge. Whirling Hands is also great for while you are levelling up for jumping into a middle of a mob and getting their attention. In PvP, I ditched both.
The heal is the real thing - aid self should be in there, and slotted - with energy drain, you can keep yourself topped up for health and endurance really easily.
Overload I tried 3 def, 3 recharge, and 3 recharge, 1 def, 2 heal, and it was much better the second way (it seems to top out with the 1 def SO in the i7 defense changes).
Total Focus I would slot 2acc, 1endred, 3dam, Energy transfer the same, but switch the endred for a recharge.
All the other attacks I slotted 2acc, 2endred, 2recharge on my way up, and I was able to use fury for the damage.
As an example of how good it is - I happily solo'd +2 EB versions of Swan, Numina(x2), Luminary, Ghost Widow in Grandville, and tanked Positron in RV for 3 minutes while overload was up on the first slotting, and BaB, Manticore and Positron on the second. Hardly scratched em mind, but they didn't hurt me until overload crashed.
Highly recommended as a lot of fun, using energy cloak to operate as a "heavy stalker". -
Rum for me, but cheers
There are definite lessons to be learned from this, but so far it is going ok - I'll be more prepared next week (so I don't have to alt-tab out to look at teams for instance), which should help a lot.
Will be doing the draw for the next round probably tomorrow, as it is the lady wife's cake day today. Anyhoo, back to the rum -
That's basically my thinking on it too - events were a little hectic last night, so I kinda just went with the flow. In hindsight, two rounds at once was far too ambitious, although undoubtedly a lot of fun.
I'm all for having a mass arena battle at the end - you can all play "pin the powers on the referee", while I show off my uber arch/dev blapping skills(a level 1 character, natch)
-
ill/rad if you don't fancy going the regen route.
I know that imaginary has solo'd lusca a couple of times with his, so, y'know, yeah... -
But having an extra sub to call on will be useful
-
Lives Left
Any no-shows are shown as losing 2 lives, unless a substitute was found to play in their place, in which case, their results stand for that player.
Those who stepped in, thankyou, please turn up next week, as there will undoubtedly be spaces for you. -
hehe, my head is hurting, but results will be posted in a couple of minutes.
Was a lot of fun, albeit stressful - I received 87 tells in the space of 10 minutes, which was interesting
A big thanks to everyone who showed up, and for being patient while i worked out who was who and such like, and for the warm welcome I recieved - you aren't as bad as i'd been led to believe :P -
That is indeed the point - for anyone to have a go at a PvP tournament, to learn some things and to have fun.
I don't think build will be the deciding factor here - it will be the player who adapts best to a changing team/opposition that prevails. -
alas, not this time toxic.
If this goes as well as we all hope, I'm certain it will be repeated, perhaps with a couple of weight classes - perhaps a 12-13 and a 48-50 banding in addition to the 38-40 band used this time? Not sure, it will depend a lot on what we learn this time round.
The real thing that will determine if this works is how much work is needed to organise it. So far (touch wood) it has been ok. We'll see if that is still true tomorrow evening.
