EM/EA PvP Build
I've never PvP'd a Brute, so take the suggestions with a pinch of salt.
I'd guess the EM sets do well because of the Dis component of their attacks. Personally I think you'd struggle to get a decent attack chain out of your powers if Hasten isn't up.
I'd recommend not going the super jump route and instead getting Air Sup/Fly. The extra Def from combat jumping is small. Air Sup is very useful in PvP, it does knockdown and it does damage on a par with Bonesmasher.
Slotting Stun for damage is pointless, use it Dis and Recharge.

really really sorry but thats the biggest load of twaddle i've ever heard.lol.
I'd stick with the jump pool because the previous poster has his numbers totaly wrong.
Air sup = 2.7 dmg
bone smasher 4.5 dmg
on par ? i think not.
Anyway .. acouple things this i should point out .. 1) you have no heal 2)your defence are very weak as they are def and you will get hit in PVP.
So i'd seriously think about the medicine pool and taking tough from the fighting pool, i would drop whirling hands as its not that good damage and maybe drop stun as TF has a 100% chance to do a mag 3 stun and a 80% chance to do an extra mag 1 stun.
Fear is a good idea but i think you'll need the ranged attacks that the PPP's offer and taunt isn't that good in PVP.
Barrage is also good for building fury so i've been told.

Opps I meant its about as usefull as bonesmasher IMO.
He's right about Barrage and fury though
My EM/EA is at 26, and I tried him out in RV to see how he would cope at 40.
For PvE, Barrage is a great fury builder - better damage than brawl, similar end cost, similar activation/recharge. Whirling Hands is also great for while you are levelling up for jumping into a middle of a mob and getting their attention. In PvP, I ditched both.
The heal is the real thing - aid self should be in there, and slotted - with energy drain, you can keep yourself topped up for health and endurance really easily.
Overload I tried 3 def, 3 recharge, and 3 recharge, 1 def, 2 heal, and it was much better the second way (it seems to top out with the 1 def SO in the i7 defense changes).
Total Focus I would slot 2acc, 1endred, 3dam, Energy transfer the same, but switch the endred for a recharge.
All the other attacks I slotted 2acc, 2endred, 2recharge on my way up, and I was able to use fury for the damage.
As an example of how good it is - I happily solo'd +2 EB versions of Swan, Numina(x2), Luminary, Ghost Widow in Grandville, and tanked Positron in RV for 3 minutes while overload was up on the first slotting, and BaB, Manticore and Positron on the second. Hardly scratched em mind, but they didn't hurt me until overload crashed.
Highly recommended as a lot of fun, using energy cloak to operate as a "heavy stalker".
The shedload of disorient is very useful in PvP, tis true. I don't know how we'll fare in I7, but in I6 I've found my EM/EA a little too squishy to hang about for long - I've not tried air supes on him, I've hasten + SS to bring attacks back faster and grabbed CJ as well for the added def and mobility. CJ seems to make a fair bit of difference to PvE survivability (the small def from it would make narf all difference to most sets, but EA stacks nicely with it), but I'm not sure how it alters PvP fights, because as I say I don't hang about for prolonged fights. BU + TF + ET + Bonesmasher will be enough to finish most things off, but Brutes, Tanks and scrappers require a little more.
Your attack chain should be sufficiently fleshed out to not need any power pool attacks.

Nail, meet head. I've been mistaken for a stalker so often (and [censored] out repeatedly for being a g4nk3r!!1 oh noes) I'm considering grabbing stealth with the freespec.

This is what i used during the RV event, worked nicely.

Main problem for me was fury, and generally was lacking in attack chain, this is mainly because of lack of slots, for extra recharges. There are a lot of gaps in slotting on this build but hey level cap is 40.
I thought energy cloak wouldn't stack with stealth?

Not that I've tried, but most existing stealth-type powers don't, so I wouldn't think Stealth was worth taking.
Also, the I7 defence changes aren't likely to make much of a difference in PvP - they're only changing how it works against higher level enemies, and in PvP everyone is auto-exemped to the same level.

Best not grab stealth then

I'm looking at levelling a Brute for PvP and need some build advice.
My proposed build is below but I don't really know the AT too well.
I'm hoping that the end on it isn't too bad and may have overslotted end reducs with energy drain factored in.
The presence pool may look a little odd but I've taken that purely because fear has so few protections from it.
The only real problem is the fact I've not managed to fit taunt in. The only real place I can put it is instead of Electrifying Fences.
