REBORN: THE MOVIE - Download
First of all, I salute the endeavour. I know how much work goes into something like this.
That said, some constructive criticism springs to mind, which I hope you don't mind if I share with you.
Firstly, the opening credits are far, far too long. As in 50% of the total running time. I'd urge you to look at how you can cut that down.
Camera work is also an area for improvement - the classic example being one of the (many) city flying scenes; in particular, the croatoa one that shows you flying into a wall in first person :P. Throughout, the choice of camera angle is pretty much the thirdperson standard game view, which is great for playing the game, not so great for seeing what is going on. The best way to get good action footage is to a) use the demorecord function to capture the intial footage, as then you don't have the ui clocking up the action, which you then record the bits you need in fraps, and b) to get a much higher level, invised player to act as cameraman out of the team - they can wander round (or even better, hover) in first person view, capturing good looking shots.
Effects were sparsely used (good!), but some cheese slipped in - the use of black & white in one scene, and the inexplicable use of sepia during the "toggling" scene. I'd consider what you are trying to convey, and use an effect if appropriate to help you establish mood.
Storyline. Well, I might have missed it, but it wasn't apparent what story you were trying to tell. This is probably the most difficult thing to do well, but one that makes the biggest difference to a movie.
The cringeworthy spelling mistake of reborn on the first title frame was a shame too
Things that I thought were done well were - some nice (if overused/long) 1st person flight scenes. Some nice (non-ui) action sequences. A nice, tight end credit sequence. Some cracking music (slayer ftw!)
I have no idea how long you spent on this, but I'm guessing it runs into the 10s of hours - I hope you aren't offended by my critique, but can see where improvements can be made for the next one Again, I salute your hard work and enthusiasm, and look forward to future reborn movies, as I did this one.
Many thanks for ALL those comments!
I'm going to be working on the 2nd (and vastly improved) Reborn movie over the next few weeks, as that was my very first attempt at doing one, so in theory, things should be much better :P
Some very valid points though, all of which taken on board. Its actually nice to have CONSTRUCTIVE criticism on what was essentially 40+ hours of work, and great to see its not all been for nothing!
Thans mate, appreciated

any time.
I'd also recommend doing some 'shorts' in between, just to practice different things. I'm working on a very ambitious project, but need to really up my knowledge and camera skills to get it as polished as i'd like.
Keep on truckin', look forward to number 2.
Does anyone have a copy of this still?
i can't find my own copy :S
