    Primary for SR?

A mix would be good. I have no constraints. Issue being...should I roll a MA/SR or MA/SD. and if I go MA/SD what would be next to pair with SR?

    Primary for SR?

Sans any weapons, what are the top 3 primary sets to pair with SR blue and/or red side?
  3. Recently I have been logging into CoH after verifying the files and yet still the exp and influence bars are empty. No graphics or colors. I have a ATI Radeon 1950 pro card and being a bit computer iliterate, not sure if its the problem. Does anyone have a site to update my drivers and best method to do so?
  4. Going for an aoe build, which epic pool fits better...pyre or stone. I was thinking with stone that one gets access to quicksand to combine that with burn but pyre does give the aoe fireblast. Anyone with experience using these two sets?
  5. My goal is to roll a DM/SR Archtype. The question is which side. From what I have found on the forums, these particular powersets do about the same damage. That being stated, what or why would one choose a scrapper or brute to create. What pros and cons do either of these two AT's offer over one another. Having played the content on both sides, what type of intangibles are offered and who benefits from epic power pools more, etc.... Which direction should one take?
  6. I would like to roll a DM brute and for those that have already rolled a DM brute, I would like to know what secondary is best suited to go with it. Im looking to choose between shield or super reflexes. Thanks.
  7. Ok. Im leaning towards a brute or scrapper... are the equal?

    Shield or SR?

Going dark melee. With that in mind, shileld or SR for soloablity? Pros? Cons?
  9. Thanks for the information....how does shield stack up to SR for soloing?
  10. Does a shield/ss tanker make a good soloable toon and can they take on AV's?
  11. Question, brutes or scrappers for AV's and what powersets?
  12. Ive rolled a few scrappers but Im trying to decide which direction to go in. I want a scrapper (or do I...will a brute accomplish the same thing?) to solo AV's eventually. What powersets should I look into and why?
  13. Ive been reading over the posts about soloing TF's and the like. Now I would assume that a scrapper would best suited for these types of situations. Correct? If so what powersets. Thankls.

    The mood on MA

    Opportunity Cost….

The idea for me here is perhaps the allure of MA has worn off a bit but there is some definite correlation between the changes/nerfs to MA and the drop in population found on servers again. I started and still play a bit on Liberty and for a small time, there was a nice influx of people looking to level old or new AT’s. Now that population is back to normal levels and looking to team again has become a challenge at times.

The truth is these types of games are about leveling. Yet it seems the developers at times would arguer against that and have a population of players scared to even enter a sewer zone. The player’s main goal is to work towards obtaining drops and some form of monitory income to purchase or create a good for their characters. As they do this, new slots and powers are available to them through new levels. Missions offer the ability to achieve these goals. Every time a player plays the game experience is earned working towards the main goal of a level cap of 50. Again, the goal to me seems simple, LEVEL one’s toon up. When MA first came out, the player flooded the zones looking to level. They were met with fun and flowing experience allowing them to train characters created. They also acquired influence and tickets to help speed up the process of leveling.

Perhaps I have missed something in the translation here. I pose this question, if these games are not about leveling or maxing out one’s AT to the best of their ability, then why offer levels at all? Why offer an invention system for increased attributes in powers? Why not just offer character customization costume pieces and missions content everyone can do no matter what level they are? It sounds like that’s where MA is headed. Missions for all players looking for new content and some reward but not vital to the leveling process.

I have enjoyed the use of MA and will continue to work on an arc or two but realize my arcs probably won’t be played much because the reward for doing so won’t offset the time spent on regular missions or TF’s. It’s becoming clearer MA is about different content and not so much about enhancing the regular game play. In my opinion, I see MA becoming the “end game” repeatable content that only high levels will attempt because of the ease a level 50 will have in doing MA missions over the difficulty a level 15 has faced since the added changes. I too have found myself with one too many faceplants now. A well equipped level 50 AT has a reduced risk versus reward time and in turn will continue to repeat or as they say “farm” MA missions that one finds worthy. The ticket system now in place will help supplement high levels maximizing/minimized builds. If the developers vision to for MA to be more content and less reward, then offer the player full access to mission development material. Maps, villains and items should be restored if there is no harm allowed anymore from their use.

I conclude with the fact two new comic genre MMO’s are soon to hit the store shelves with different content, abilities and leveling systems. Whether these are successful or not, remains to be seen. The positive side to all of this is competition allows for a better product to be produced. Issues that have long plagued CoH may finally be resolved. CoH has had the edge and even broke the barrier with MA but soon it will be tested. These last few weeks have been a knee jerk reaction to the downfall of MA with issue 15 being touted and then the “Going Rogue” content teased for the future. It seems this marketing strategy is trying to cover the fact that MA is becoming a non issue for the game and a dark cloud hovering over the 5 year anniversary. I truly hope this situation finds sustainable ground to work from. Again, this remains to be seen. I realize the creators and developers of this game only want what is best for their vision and their players, unfortunately we as a collective have been punished.

    The mood on MA

Its been about a week since the "nerf" and since that time, once again servers are back to normal population. Before...I had fun and it was fun to see all the players jumping online.

What kind of vibe is the community getting since the nerf ingame?
  16. If they are going to "nerf"/ adjust MA then there is no, I repeat NO reason to remove items that could enhance the experience of creating story arcs. If there are no rewards (exp or tickets) from doing the arcs, what does it matter what is published in these MA arcs?
  17. The mission was live and published. Recieved no exp or tickets.
  18. Just ran a brief MA mission and recieved no tickets or exp, did I miss somethign in the patch notes?
  19. yes it was published...why?
  20. So I ran a MA mission and recieved no exp or tickets? Is that working as intended?
  21. 1) Is a missions difficulty based off of the mission diff slider or is it set within the architect system?

    2) How does one go about only allowing for a glowing end the mission as opposed to having to clear the stage?

    3) Does adding more AV/Boss/EB's increase mission bonuses and tickets awarded?

    4) Is there an award for doing long arcs versus single missions?

    5) Is there a delay when a mission is edited to the time its published/republished or is it just server dependent?

    Thanks
  22. Im trying to figure out how to have the enemies (depending on which ones) do different animations. OR? do only bosses have the ability to have animations added to them?
  23. Where in MA can I change the animation for the created toons Ive made to be seen in missions.
  24. So how does this work? I log in on one toon and create missions/test missions/run missions then log out. Later I log in with another toon and as I understand still have access to my missions created. But do tasks accomplished for badges carry over from toon to the next (tickets and what not) or does one have to log in with each toon to create more missions just to achieve the badges offered?
