Arc Name: The History of Captain Power, Hero of Two Worlds
Arc ID: TBA
Faction: Heroic
Creator Global/Forum Name: @Captain Power
Difficulty Level: Best played from 35-50.
Recommended Team Size: Solo for story, but I can't wait to team on it.
Typical duration: "Long" sorry but there are 3 defeat all missions. Hopefully, Captain Power Issue 1 will have fewer defeat all's in it.
Arc Synopsis: This tells the story of Captain Power before and during the first Rikti raid. Captain Power is not a member of the Freedom Phalanx, but has worked closely with them on more than one occasion. This is how an alien from Thanan became a hero of both Thanan, and Earth.
Link to a more info/comments thread: I'll just put in what I want you to know. first, don't be afraid of the bosses, The last one's tough because it's a Rikti AV but even soloing you can get the entire Freedom Phalanx as well as Lady Grey to help you, so he'll go down. As for the others, they're EB's or lower, so don't be too concerned when the word "boss" shows up. What i like about this arc is I created a "war torn" Statesman for a Golden Age costume for the first mission, it's not much, but it shows why Statesman MAY have changed his costume simply so he could go fight the 5th column. Also Atlas's costume finally revealed! or at least my rendition of what I think he would have for a costume.

Freedom has more hardware to support the larger populations... updating this hardware is taking more time than our other servers.
We have made the decision not to hold launch for the other 10 North American servers and 4 European servers just for Freedom. We are working diligently on Freedom, at this time I have no estimated availability. I'll update you all as we know more.

Now this makes sense. Why don't you guys put out this kind of direct information more often?
[/ QUOTE ]
That kind of information is actually quite obvious to anyone who has played MMO's for several years... more populated Servers are almost always going to be the ones with the biggest issues when rolling out new expansions.
[/ QUOTE ]
I've been playing MMO's since UO, and since it was the first one, I'm pretty sure I have plenty of experiance. It was a simple question. the so called clearity of observation you pointed to is only clear if you understand the facts that Ex clearified.
Trying to say that people don't understand because they have no experiance is not the answer. we simply asked for clearification, no nead to insult our intelligence simply because we wanted to know more about our home server.
Edit: Oh, sorry meant to also say "thanks Ex for the clearification. -
That's not what we asked, I'm pretty sure.

First! =P
OK, I'm online so disreguard the "I still can't get on..." post that used to be here. So why is Freedom down? -

Are we limited to how many Stories we can have per account. i.e. one story line per char, or one story line per account?
[/ QUOTE ]
3 Published story arcs per account (each story arc with up to 5 missions). Unlimited numbers of unpublished story arcs (which reside on the local drive of your PC). Publishing a mission uploads from your PC to the MA server into an empty publishing slot. Getting a Published Arc promoted into the Hall of Fame or Dev's Choice will free up that slot for reuse.
Edit: to make things a bit clearer

Thx
Edit: Wonder if you will be able to purchase more story arcs with tickets? Eventually? -
[ QUOTE ]
Each story can have up to five chapters or missions and each mission can hold up to a maximum of 25 achievable goals.

Thanks alot for this explaination. It helps us both understand what happened and know that we can whine and cry and eventually get our way, which is of course best for us. Especially since my hero don't have the badge yet.
Oh wait, (whine and cry coming.) I have to wait for Issue 14!?!?!? awe man, why can't we just get a patch????? =P -

If we discuss the removal of the "Reformed" badge here, will we get any more feedback than we got in the Training Room?

We are aware internally of the badgers concerns over the removal of this badge. However at this time the Developers are choosing to not comment. I'll keep you updated if I hear of any change in that determination.

I am begining to see the complaint of "they never tell us anything" starting up again. I can only hope it will be explained within the year, because if it's not it will be very irritating for those of us who have been badgers for quite some time and didn't think, "oh I should go finish this badge before it gets removed."
I suppose the moral of this story is if you are a badger, get your badges as soon as possible, you never know when the devs will remove stuff wihtout explaination.
Good news is, MAYBE maybe they are making it unavailable for some awesome reason, like one of the new storylines is about rogue Longbow. Or internal dispute between good guy groups like the Vanguard and the Longbow. Or maybe, MAYBE maybe this is the begining of their plans to create the long desired ability to make good guys go evil and bad guys turn good!!!!!!!!!! (I can only hope and dream, I can't change the world.) -
Michael McKnight sat in the office of the Chief of the Kings Row Precinct and stared at the PPD shield framed behind the desk opposite him. He had been a cop now for almost 5 years and he knew it was what he had always wanted to do. He was a fifth generation officer for the Paragon Police Department and aspired to be only the second of his family to retire from the force. His father was the first, before him his Grandfather had died in a major Family warehouse. His Great Grandfather had died during the Fifth Column attack in 1941. His Great Great-Grandfather had died during a raid of a Circle of Thorns temple in 1913.
Michael, The Chief said as he entered the office. He shook Michaels hand as if he had never met him before. Hows everything going? The Chief asked as he sat down.
Good, Michael said diplomatically We caught Lazy Eddie down on Twenty-fifth Street last night, he still had the gun on him.
Yea, now lets hope he squeals before the Family gets someone in the Zig to ice him. The Chief sat back in his chair. The chair squeaked under the stress of the mans good three-hundred pounds of weight. Michael I need to talk to ya bout somthin. Relaxing the formalities a bit. The report from that raid the other day on the Circle of Thorns warehouse says you took out the whole gang almost single-handedly.
Well, the guys tend to embellish a lot. Michael said shyly.
It must be the whole damn Department, because everyone I bump into, including the Commissioner, has asked about the Supercop I have working in my precinct, and theyre always talking about you.
Michael didnt say anything. He shifted a bit in his seat and tried to stave off the feeling of embarrassment creeping up on him.
Thats why I want you to help Blue Steel in starting up a new unit within the department. The Chief said looking down at some paperwork.
Blue Steel? Michael said as his mouth dried a bit, You mean the Blue Steel?
Hes the only one kid. The Chief chuckled. Hes going to teach you the ins and outs of being a hero as we have already seen, you can be a good cop.
But, Im no hero. Michael said trying to be humble, although he couldnt help feel a sense of pride within him.
Well if youre not, youre about to be. The Chief smiled, Now go report to Blue Steel and by the way, The Chief took a small Identification card from the paperwork he had been looking at. Heres your Hero Registration card. He handed it to Michael who looked at it gleaming. The name at the top of the card said Supercop
This time his emotions overcome him and he smiled widely. The Chief smiled back as he waved him out the door.
Michael ran down the street in front of the Precinct and coming to a picket fence closing off the alley he easily jumped the fence and then quickly jumped the chain linked fence that kept some of the local dregs away from the truck which held a dimensional entrance to D.J. Zeros club in the Pocket D zone, as he ran around the runoff drain he bumped into a couple of Circle of Thorns with a civilian up on a spell of magical fire. He knocked them both out quickly and placed Zig Teleportation Beacons on them to h ave them quickly transported to the prison in Brickstown. He turned down High Park Drive to Freedom Plaza and walked up to the Freedom Corps building where Blue Steels offices were. There he stood among several newer heroes, a symbol to all of them as how justice was to be rendered.
Michael! Blue Steel said loudly over the bustle of armor and tights. Glad you could make it in time, Im about to go take down Skelter and his Guards. It shouldnt be hard, but itll make a good training activity so I can evaluate your skills, its not the easiest transition, from Police Officer to Hero that is. Youre expected to perform a lot higher than mere mortal men. He smiled.
Even if we are mortal men? Michael asked.
Especially if we are. Blue Steel told him. Pull the face shield down on your helmet.
Why? Michael asked, suddenly realizing he was questioning his mentor and wanted to take it back, but he really wanted to understand Blue Steels reasoning.
Every good hero has something to loose, and to keep from loosing it you must keep your identity hidden. A secret identity is a heros key to a good nights rest and a safe family. From here on out, you arent Michael McKnight, you are Supercop, Protector of Innocence, Keeper of Peace.
Michael lowered the helmet face piece and felt his whole mentality change. He was no longer just some cop, he was now a Hero, he was now Supercop, and he liked it!
Do you have your shield? Blue Steel asked. Michael pulled the tower riot shield from his back marked PPD and secured it to his arm. Thatll do for now, but after you get to know the ins and outs of shield work youll want something a little lighter. Now come on, I dont want to let this guy escape, hes given some of our heroes so much trouble, some of them have taken him down four and five times.
Blue Steel took off in a sprint and Michael had trouble keeping up, even with his Swift and Sprint training enhanced. They arrived on the lower west side and Blue Steel waited for him to get to the door before he went in.
Ive got two rules, one is trials serve Justice, bullets serve Punishment. Unless you have to try to keep your service revolver put away unless you really need it. Blue Steel said as he looked at Supercops duty belt. Two is stay alive, the only good hero is a living hero, got it? Supercop nodded Alright, lets get to it.
They went into the warehouse and just after they got in the door they entered the fray. He watched in awe as Blue Steel slammed his shield into enemies left and right. He used a shield as a swordsman might use a broadsword. It was as if the shield was a part of him.
He knew then that no man in Paragon would ever be as good with a shield as Blue Steel, both using it as a defensive barrier and as an offensive weapon. Blue Steel took on four, five, six, seven, and eight of the Skulls. At one point, Blue Steels abilities were so awe striking Supercop forgot he was in a fight and dropped his guard as if he was in an exhibition. Suddenly, he jumped back into reality and threw his own shield up just in time to deflect an oncoming bolt of negative energy. Then he decided that Blue Steel had said he wanted to see his skills not show off his own. Supercop moved in on the next group taking down two with a couple of quick kicks and concentrating on the third guy, but out of the shadows came a Bone Daddy. His guard was down from hitting the third Skull and he just knew he was about to be faceplanted when the familiar shape of a badge shaped shield stopped the projectile and Blue Steels silhouette moved in on the ganger. Supercop finished with the guy who had occupied him and turned to help Blue Steel but he was standing already victorious.
Youve got some good moves there but until you get better at defending multiple fronts back up and let the tanks like me take the hits. Blue Steel smiled. Now lets go get Skelter.
They swept through the warehouse like wasps through a bees nest, bashing their shields through the faces of their enemies left and right. Then they found him, guards all around him. Blue Steel crouched to rest, but he wasnt even breathing hard, giving Supercop the impression that he was doing it for Michaels benefit not his own.
After I go in, concentrate on the guards, we cant afford to let one of them get away now. Blue steel told him as he stood.
They rushed the group and Blue Steel landed his shield on the nose of Skelter, smashing it and bringing obvious tears to his eyes. Supercop took out two of the guard while they were still staring at Blue Steels sudden appearance and he took down two more while they were still trying to compose themselves enough to respond to the attack, leaving only two guards to deal with. He jumped over the fight between Blue Steel and Skelter, landing on one of the two guards with his shield and smashing him to the ground with the full weight of his body. He jumped off the obviously incapacitated guard and landed a swift Dragon Kick into the torso of the remaining guard. The fight between Blue Steel and Skelter raged behind him as the last guard made a quick turn to run, but Supercop anticipated this and had closed the gap enough to land a quick shield punch to end his resistance to arrest. Supercop turned and whirled with a Crane Kick to the back of Skelters head and followed up with a Thunder Kick to knock him on his back.
Nice Job, Blue Steel smiled still not even breathing hard. Supercop knew then that Blue Steel had only been watching his performance, not actually having trouble with Skelter. I think youve well earned the name Supercop, and if you keep coming to me, well have you trained up to become the next Hero of the City in no time.
They placed the teleporters to the Zig on the bodies and made their way out of the warehouse. Supercop thought about how he had aspired to become the second person in his family to retire alive from the Paragon Police Department. Then he realized there was no way he could ever pass up the opportunity to become a true Hero. He thought about it as they waited for their backup to arrive. He knew then, that even though his job just got a lot more dangerous, he was going to love every minute of it. -

Changing my problem to my main, because I can track it better. Since an entire day job badge is 504 hours worth of loggout time, and assuming that a badge requires the entire 504 hours. My main has exactly 59.21% of any given day job badge time earned over the course of 21 days. that would mean that I had been logged into him for 205.5816 hours during the course of the 21 days. my other alts have also logged quite a bit of time online as well, and my shields scrapper is level 12, so although I havn't played him lately I know when I-13 went live a played him pretty regularly. Now with my main accumulating over 205 hours of play time, I should have been able to run several TF's and have merits out of the ears by now. I've accumulated exactly 25 candy canes, 4 reward merits and the Speedster, Agile, and, Surefooted badges, along with the obvious Frostbitten badges. This shouldn't be more than at the most 10-12 total hours, because I know I got the Speedster badge after 2 days, of about 2-3 hours each at the MOST, because I had respecs and such in between. (not Respec TF's mind you, just the respec themselves and travel time to Galaxy City) I figure I logged an approximate time of about 50-60 hours on my main and that's giving the benefit of the doubt on the time to the progress bar. If there was a fix to it that I am unawares of, I appologise, but the time lost is what I'm concerned with. I lost a total of nearly 10 days of loggoff time. This sux when it comes to trying to acquire accolades associated with the badges.
This is why I posted the above messages, and now that I have some more solid numbers, although there are a lot of variables, I must say that believing I as a Firefighter working every 3rd day, and not logging in much during my work days, have accumulated half of that time online with my main, when I also have so many alts, is rather....absurd.
I hope it's just a bug that has either been fixed or can easily be fixed. Thanks, and sorry for the nearly triple post. -

My only concern is about the temporary jet pack situation. A villain can both purchase and earn (through day jobs) a temporary jet pack by visiting grandville (which is relatively easy with a high level friend or a good SG teleporter), but a Hero absolutely cannot gain one until level 40. This seems highly imbalanced.
I also agree that for the temporary powers a number of charges, or a times per use thing would be preferable to the current system.
[/ QUOTE ]
I completely agree with this, and I think the easiest soloution to this one is to make Firebase Zulu accessable to under 40's but the Teleporters off the base the ones that have a cap. This could easily fix the problem. Of course this may only be fixed when Electric_Eddie's blanket Shadow Shard redeux occurs, which at the rate of fixes + new in game additions, which I love by the way, I figure we'll be looking at a good 2010 for the Shadow Shard upgrade. -

so now that I13 has been live 21 days, I'm starting to get day job badges on some of my characters.
I'm... underwhelmed.
The amount of wait for a single badge just doesn't match the reward, the timer needs to be shortened.
Further, I have very little incentive to wait another 21 days to get an accolade power. I'd rather keep recharging the first bonus I've been using than spend 21 days for a bonus I don't care about (the debt protection one springs to mind here as a possible finish to an accolade on one character). It's just too little reward too far apart and not comparing to the few "useful" options like the market teleporter or the XP buff.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, I would tend to agree with you, however the Accolade recharges both professions when you log out at one profession's location I believe. I'm not positive on this one because I dont' have any accolades yet either, but I "THINK" it's supposed to work that way, and if that is the case indeed, then it is more worth it to have the accolade. -

Server: Freedom
Zone: Port Oaks
Character Name: Dr. Botics
Time: 12/23 1600 (4:00 pm cst)
Location: Arena
Mission: N/A
Mission Contact: N/A
I logged into a character that I had logged out in the arena all but perhaps an hour of play time in the arena in Port Oaks, and I did not get my day job badge exactly 21 days after I-13 went live. This indicated to me that the day job time log is discounting the entire day a person logs in, or the timer is somehow confused by when a character logs in. I believe I may have lost more than a day for my hour or so of play time, which would indicate to me that if you want your day job badges and rewards, playing is not optimal, which is of course not something I think is very prudent for a game that requires you to play to advance.
Being this is the day before Christmas eve, I don't expect you guys to do much about it right away, however, I would like you to know that the next time the 21 day cycle ends is on January 13th. Since the servers went down several times for crashes and bug fixes it is possible that that time was also taken from us, but I have no way of tracking the time lost, because the advancement bar is so unreliable.
My main character, Captain Power is also advancing very very little on his City Official badge. The status bar showing only about half way progress, dispite being logged out in city hall every time, save a crash or sudden log off, but although I have played him frequently, and I know I did crash and log off for a few hours in Pocket D once or twice for a couple of hours, I doubt very seriously that that time would equate about 10 days of time. that's a total of 240 hours, and I can promise you I havn't possibly been playing him that much, I'm too much of an Alt-ernater.
A timely resolution to this issue is most desired, and I would completely understand if it werent' resolved until after 1-13, however it would be well recieved if it were resolved not to long after that date due to the schedual the day job badge accumulation rate has rendered to us players, especially the badge hunters.
[/ QUOTE ]
I realize that I may not completely understand the accumulation rate of the day job status, so I will investigate this further, however I still feel there is some fault with the time status accumulation rate in some circumstances, I'm willing to accept that I may not be accounting for all of my activities, and I will investigate this matter further and provide more feedback when I am able. -

Adding to this thread
I just got off of Freedom where I've been for the last 4-5 hours, and in that time not one single Apocalypse generated anywhere on the server. Is this "working as intended"? What exactly is the time between spawns? It seems a bit ridiculous that I have to log in and park myself someplace for hours and hours waiting for an Apocalypse to spawn.
[/ QUOTE ]
See ANNOUNCEMENTS section regarding the glitch they just fixed. Zombies should be spawning as intended now.
[/ QUOTE ]
I did. Lighthouse posted at 3:43 PM PST that the error in spawning was fixed on Monday (yesterday). Well I played from about 8 PM-1 AM PST last night and there were no zombie spawns at all on Freedom. So either the timer is very long and the zones are all synched together or it's still borked.
[/ QUOTE ]
I know they're all clumped together, because when one zombie attack happens the other zones, both hero and villain sides are sure to follow, and that there is like a 6 hour spread between them. So I don't think this is exactly "as intended" however how should we know what's in the minds of the Devs?
I also played on Freedom last night and the laat invasion was at about 7pm or so. It started in PI I think, and started happening through out both side's zones, when it finally got to Steel Canyon (Where I was) The last couple of zones happened before Steel was over and by the time Steel was over the string was almost ended. I played till 10 or so and nothing else the rest of my playing time. If you played till 1 depending on which time zone you're in, then that means it was at least 5-8 hours after. (I'm in CST time zone.
and I'm also assuming you're in the continental.) -

Both of these are already badges, so i doubt they will be added, however another name would be great.
My ideas:
Fireman (Firewoman) or maybe even Smoke Eater/ Firebug - Top of Fire Buildings on Steel Canyon, or the buildings on fire on Mercy Island. Grants resistance to fire. Adds costume part FIrefighter's Helmet. (can't help it, I've been posting this on Jay's for a while, might as well try it here.)
Islander - log out on one of the random islands in Talos/Nerva, grant's costume part Grass Skirt and Leis for BOTH GENDERS, and allows for the Hula emote.
I liked the Idea for Miner being around underground areas or maybe just near cave entrances.
Edit: added my ideas to the post. -
OK, I know some people are disappointed, and you can't please all of the people all of the time.
I love Thermal for Controllers, I'll finally make a Fire Controller now because of it.
I am glad for the DA/DM for tanks, and although I won't make any characters of it, I think it's good addition. Although I was sort of looking for Electric.
Fire For Scrappers, well, ok, I like some were looking for SS.
Electric for Stalkers. Well, I'm disappointed in this one, but I'm not sure what would have been better. After all, Electricity is alot more transparent than Fire.
Dominators, Earth Control, ok, I guess, Electricity Manipulation, what?
Defenders, Was looking for Thermal, but I like the Cold Idea just as well.
Brutes, Good!
Masterminds, What the...? Storm? Are you kidding? Ok, My only at all hope, was that Perhaps MM's would be the ones to get Empathy. I know Empathy isn't exactly a self-serving powerset which is why I thought MM's would be the ones to actually get it. I mean what's more self serving than to keep one's lackeys alive to do your bidding. I know Empathy is more of a Hero set, which is why again I had hoped for MM's to get it. It would be a secondary that's listed as a Low capability set, alot of difference between that and the High capability of the Defender. I mean the only Area Heal a MM get's ATM is Dark and a Triage Beacon that doesn't work very well. I mean I can completely understand why Corruptors wouldn't get Empathy, it wouldn't be the best choice for a corruptor because he's the hybred of all Archetypes, part healer, mostly damage dealer. But MM's are not damage dealers, although they can do well against PVE, PVP for MM's sux. If they were able to heal their pets better, they might be better PVPers, they might make better additions to teams, although MM's are great to have as cannon fodder (the minions, not just the MM) If MM's had Empathy capabilities, even a dumbed down version, it would be much better than the single target heals they're trying to attempt, or the shields they throw up for only their pets half of the time.
But, Can't please all the people all of the time, so Thanks for what we got. Keep up the good work, and keep those updates coming, can't wait for I-13 (My lucky number) -
Well, it is, as someone mentioned above, a comic book game, and if you've ever noticed comic books generally lend almost every gun, sword, or even person as being quite larger than in real life. It adds to the presence fo the character, not to realism. For example Superman is supposed to be mistaken as a mild mannered reporter. Yes, he has muscles, but not like a body builder which is how he's generally portrayed. The Punisher's guns are very, very often portrayed as over half again the size of their real life counterparts. It's just comic-esque that's all.

I'd just like to agree with many of the people here. The blades are too long in my opinion. Something shorter, like daggers or maybe wakizashi, was what I was expecting. In all honesty, those two blades are way too big. Regardless of what popular media does with double swords, those are much too long to be used together without restricting your arc of lethality in a major way. I'd like to see them shorter.
Then again, this is just one man's opinion. Maybe others like them the way they are. Perhaps a forumn vote on wether they should be shortened?
However, I WOULD like to give the Devs a big THANK YOU!!! For putting in more powersets at allI always appreciate new toys
