  1. Sad to see this Noire.

Get someone to put a second HD in, it isn't that hard honestly.

Thank you for all you help and advice. Be well in whatever you decide.
  2. I've had this happen before but searching for the arc via my global allowed me to edit.

This time the arc is unpublished and I can't get back to it because every attempt crashes the whole game.

I've tried with several characters and petitioned. Is anyone else having the same problem and if so how did you fix it?

    Thanks.
  3. Anyone know where I can find out how many HP The Honoree has? I'm trying to work out a comparison and didn't have much luck on the Wiki.

BABs and I have been known to post on the weekend, at times, as have Ghost Falcon, Dark Watcher and even SexyJay.

    It's just relatively uncommon.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well stop having lives, will you. It's really annoying that you don't spend 24/7/365 dealing with CoX. Show some dedication for pete's sake.

Jesh, you can't get the staff.

    (/sarcasm)
  5. Why didn't you post the Going Live Soon thread in Announcements - the way I14 was - rather than just in News?

If you aren't going to post Announcements then don't bother having that subforum and merge it with News.

    Bye

Really really sad to hear this, Alien. I'm going to miss your well organized teams.

Hope to see you again very soon.

  7. So far today:

*Put up LFT tag* - no response
*Broadcast in two separate zones LFT* - no response
Team invite one (blind) - level 54 boss farm. *quit*
Team two - stands around for 30minutes and doesn't actually do a mission. *quit*
I broadcast for people to join my team - stating story rather than farm. No response.
Team invite three - leader quits on the first mission
Team four - I'm now the leader of team three. Try to recruit a few more. One guy quits because I'm not running a farm.
I give up and go and play something else.

Unfortunately LordX is right. You can't restrict it to vets or over a certain level now. Which is a real shame. It should have been a separate level-restricted zone.

It has ruined teaming in this game. It's ok to say teach people but they have to want to learn. All everyone wants to do in AE is farm. They don't even *consider* some of those story arcs are a) good and b) decent XP. No unless you start a map of purple bosses no one wants to know.

What's the point of an MMO where the devs make it harder to find a team.

    TF "Must Haves"?

Fair requirements, Claws. I would ask that the chatter isn't in the middle of a fight, however.

A tank and a scrapper having a discussion about the validity of the Iraq situation during a fight leaving the two squishies to get wiped was NOT funny. Especially as they sounded like two teenage policial sci students who never done anything more dangerous than risking a papercut.

I would say to whoever puts a team together that battering people over the head with info is not a bad thing. EG "xxx taskforce, level xx-yy, time xx hours, xxx merits, meet in xxx" as an opener. And for pete's sake ask if anyone hasn't done it before and give them directions if they haven't.

I'm lucky enough to usually have the wiki open but not everyone can see two screens. Plus a bit of an idea as to a plan isn't a bad thing.

    Buy Vet Rewards?

    [ QUOTE ]

P.S. if I buy 3 yrs worth of game time, do i get awarded vet powers?

    [/ QUOTE ]

No, it's time PLAYED. I have 24months paid but I'm expecting my 12 month reward to hit in two weeks.

I have to agree with the "insta rewards attitude" that appears to become more noticable amonst newer players. They miss so much by doing that. It's a real shame. On the upsideside, they'll be off to something new and shiney quickly and I can get back to teaming with people who play for fun not to get a 50 in two days resulting in their shiney VEAT asking what's the best travel power. Not for the VEAT but for any AT as they haven't set foot outside AE.

There's a thought. AE as 18month vet reward.
  10. "Hey about this new computer. I've been doing some reseach because I really don't want to make a mistake with this.

Anyway, I spoke to some of the tech guys at work and it was really interesting hearing the problems they have to fix. Most of it comes down to poor products failing after a few months. They get a lot of calls when something going wrong as someone tries to fix or upgrade the cheap part that went wrong.

Basically with what we're looking to spend, we're going to be struggling to avoid low end parts that aren't going to last. So we're going to wind up paying AGAIN in three to six months time.

And THEN we risk something else breaking when we change the bit we need to fix. It's not easy to change some of these bits; change the motherboard and you're looking at a whole new reinstall. Backing up all your photos and documents etc. Ugh.

Anyway, had one guy recommended <this> system. It's a bit more than we wanted to spend but he says he's had a similar one for 18 months so far with no problems.

Bit of a strech I know but it's reliable and I don't want to have to pay another $200 in two months time. Plus I really don't want to lose all our personal stuff.

What do you think, go for the cheapy and risk having to replace it or go a little bit better and get the good quality stuff?"

    ^^^

The Capa Devans ploy which has worked with a number of relatives on a number of issues. Before anyone says anything, I'm female.

Alternatively break out your own cash and just ADD to the $300.
  11. I have updated the first post to reflect the fact I have already updated the graphics drivers. My reply above where I stated all the steps I took after that log was posted seemed to be getting missed by everyone.

I have already turned off FreeRam and as I said above, I was always using FreeRam when CoX worked. I don't have more than two Gig of RAM as it states in the stats in the log.

I have also now updated the BIOS.

    EDIT:
Hmm. I just got in in windowed mode and so far no crash. I'm going to try non-windowed in a moment once I'm sure that wasn't a fluke. My pagefile was showing up to a Gig used, is that normal?
  12. Thank you all for the suggestions.

When it was running perfectly I had: SP2 (never did update windows much), was using not the most recent drivers for my 8600GTS card, FreeRam running, Cosmic Scenes installed but never changing because I liked the picture it created so I turned off the renew function.

I've followed the steps by everyone above (except one - see below) and I did manage to get into game once in safe mode. However, before I had managed to cross from one side of the city hall to the other, the pixellization was back.

The only games on there right now are CoX, Rainbow Six Vegas 2 and Sim City Rush Hour. Sim City pixellizes as you choose a square to work on. Rainbow Six is working fine. Which is odd because it crashed before I changed cards.

This is looking more and more like a hardware problem, isn't it? I ran Memtest86 and that seemed ok.

My motherboard manufacture's website is somewhat unhelpful. In fact the CD that came with the MoBo didn't work. I'll spare you the pain we went through to get net so we could manually download stuff.

Any other ideas please while I go play on the MoBo website?

    Thank you all.

EDIT: Updating the COH log because of the suggestions to update the drivers when I have already done so.
  13. Hi there, I'd really appreciate any insights you can offer to me. I'm getting withdrawal symptoms.

On Friday the game crashed and screen looked pixellated. Wouldn't ctrl-alt-del and I had to reboot. I'd been playing absolutely fine before that.

Over the weekend, I have had the graphics card replaced, the power supply changed, installed a fresh hard drive and reinstalled windows. I re-downloaded the game (not steam) after the windows install.

I'm still getting the same problem that I was on Friday. In fact it's got worse now I can't even get past the log in screen even in safe mode.

Below is a hijack this and coh helper log. I am using Windows XP and I've had no problems before Friday. As I said, I'd really appreciate any insights anyone might have. Thank you.

Hope you're feeling better, stacker. If so, see you tomorrow!

    EDIT:
New graphics card didn't sort it. I'm still getting crashes on everything. Doubt I'm going to make this. Really really sad because I wanted to learn some great tricks. I'll keep trying but .. I don't think it's going to be running in time.
  15. My condolances to you all.

Glad you all got to be there and make the final goodbyes.
  16. That's a brave man.

My thoughts are with you all and hope you can be as brave as he has been throughout his life.

    Best speed to your uncle.

Really looking forward to this and just a "thanks" to stacker to arranging it.

I would dearly like to see a "delete all email as spam" button. That would be more useful than removing emails and forcing spammers to find a more direct route to annoy and interrupt gaming.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Like marking emails as spam works so well now.

I don't know about anyone else, but every time I delete an email as spam its un-ignoring a spammer on my global ignore list to make room for the new spammer. This doesn't accomplish anything.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Except if you haven't logged on for some time and you have 56 of them - as one poster here had - you don't have to click "spam" 56 times.

    *That* was the point.
  19. I'd rather have the ingame email than not.

Why? Because I have received one non-RMT email? No.

Because if you turn it off you will force the spammers to find other avenues. If you think the AE spam in Atlas is bad, wait until that turns into RMT'ers.

Yes they will; I've seen it in other games.

I agree the RMT email is annoying. I would dearly like to see a "delete all email as spam" button. That would be more useful than removing emails and forcing spammers to find a more direct route to annoy and interrupt gaming.
  20. Just catching the title, my reaction was "Oh no I just re-subscribed what will I do!". That probably gives an indication of how vital and important and useful Mids Designer is to me.

Mids is the easiest character creator that I have *ever* used. Considering the sheer width of options available in CoX (powers, slotting, sets etc) that is a great testament to the developer.

It's good to hear that the program will be continued to be developed in it's current offline format and will remain true to how Mids has developed over the Issues.

Thank you, Mids for all of your efforts. Best of luck with RL and let's hope that it allows you to return soon.
  21. I've joined something to run at 7pm Eastern. If this will have finished then I'd join. If it might not, I'd rather not join and then have to bail.

    Shame it isn't Sunday.
  22. Aww these are so so beautiful.

Had to have my last (5th) cat euthanized three weeks ago - heart condition she was mouth breathing - and I vowed I wouldn't have another one.

But but ... GIEB! *grabs a kitten and cuddles it*
  23. I love playing so I had a little play this morning. Here's what I came up with. It can be tweaked quite a lot to taste. If you like the basis, I can PM the costume text.

    Front
    Back
    Side
    Close up

If you care to give a bit more info on your characters background, it would be quite helpful.

(Some of the colour differences don't show up too well in those photos - the chest particularly.)

EDIT: Mucking with an image editor to give a four in one view:

  24. I miss liver & onions. I can't cook it properly; mum could do it right.

Sorry that's probably not appropriate in a dieting thread. Erm ... best of luck!

  25. My favourite part of the game is undoubtedly the distributors of free cookies. The really great part is how after consuming too many virtual cookies there is always some real support on how to lose those extra non-virtual pounds.

I have to say that cookies are far and above superior to certain gristly bitter pork products. No the sweet, chocolatey goodness of cookies are definitely better.
