So the entire auction house is based around how popular you are? Sounds like highschool all over again
Love the donation idea, or even the replacement day job idea. -

Terra Conspiracy:
Could use some story touch up, but major overhaul to the missions to make them more varied and interesting. The arc climaxes in a battle with a powerful monster in the middle of downtown. This should be massively cool, but it's just me trading blows in one spot with a green DE reskin. What would be cooler? Take the "leaping" tech that Marauder uses on Lambda, have Terra actually rampage around town and you have to STOP her from smashing stuff.
.
Terra came to my mind first as well. With the new tech, maps, and behavior that can be used the last mission could be updated and turned into an epic battle.
For a bit of dreaming: I would love if the final boss battle was in a real zone, say Atlas. Terra and her followers are immune to everything but the mission owner and their team, and conversely nobody outside of the team can be damaged by her. Random jumping around the zone and tack on some dialog and you would end up with a very unique boss encounter...and something that may startle a few new player
Like I said, dreaming. But it could use a good update. -
Bruising sounds interesting. I did not notice it when playing last night, but I was running flashbacks to the new low level missions. Does it have much of an impact?
I like the health increase too. Need to check out my WP tank and see how it impacts his max health now.
On a side note: I missed this game SO much -
It has been about a year and a half since I last visited the wonderful world of City of Heroes. During that time I was on a pie strike so I did not get to keep up that much.
So imagine my surprise when I come back and see a massive amount of changes for my Fire/SS tank.
- Inherent fitness pools. This was one of the items we never thought would happen yet here it is. This alone allows me some flexibility in my build in that I can now fit Fireball.
- Fiery Embrace. What did they do to my baby!?!?! I almost cried when I saw they changed it. Gave it a run and have since changed my mind. Extra fire damage on my SS attacks, some that are already slotted with procs..it makes me smile.
- Burn. Oh wonderful Burn!! I remember when I could stack it 6 times and practically melt AVs away. Then it was hit, and hit hard. Now it is just as I had dreamed it would be, rounding out a nice collection of AoE and PBAoE attacks.
Did I miss any changes? The ones I noticed so far have seemed very positive to me and inspired a respec so I could pick up Fireball and Burn. -
I am going to cast my vote for "Echo of you"
The Echos really interested me in that arc. In the first mission something reached out and took memories from your mind and turned them into apportions that you faced in a memory of your future self. Later on you face the same creatures in the past, yet they have full knowledge of you and the previous encounter.
There is some serious power there, or at least vast time travel capabilities to create such a timeline out of your actions.
It also makes me wonder if the Echos are related to the Reflections from the Shadow Shard, meaning that the coming storm could have something to do with Uuralur -
I am trying to dig up the material from a while back so forgive the lack of evidence at this point.
It was always my impression that the Midnight Squad, when they learned of Rularuus approach (Thanks to the Dream Doctor), created a pocket dimension as an exact replica of Paragon City and the surrounding area. They then populated this dimension with people from our world (or possible reflections of the people, it was never actually stated however the older people in the shard can remember the original Paragon City) and tricked Rularuu into devouring this dimension and becoming trapped.
Trapped in this prison Rularuu went mad. The Shadow Shard we see now is a mix of that dimension and the mad mind of Rularuu that had been shattered by the various aspects of him. -
Freedom did convince me to pay for another month and try the game out again.
I still like pie.... -
Gone to the Americas for it's ability to stand the test of time, randomness, and mystery.
It was a bit of a shame when the OP followed up a few years back. Some saw it as a sign of the apocalypse.
Honorable mention to the original Pie thread, may it rest in the forum archives in the sky. I believe it dated to issue 2 or 3. Good times.....good times. -
Shield has a Dance Dance Revolution power???
I have to get back on test and check that out.
:P -
/em walks in
Or you could just get Acrobatics
/em runs away -
Quote:Yes it is. If you cant survive well enough, you cant farm with the set. Farming is about time vs return. Killing faster = More Money = Better farmer.
Did you just agree and disagree with me in the same sentence?
Quote:Given that you can tailor an AT to regular-world farm missions or tailor an AE mission to your AT, survivability is not an issue. Killing speed IS an issue. Tanks kill the slowest out of scraps, trollers, brutes and tanks. Why kill slow when you can kill fast and get more rewards faster? This is 1+1 = 2 stuff but you are making 1+1 = 0.
You want aggro control? Are you farming alone or with a group? Why are you farming with a group? You are going to make less $$. If you are farming alone you are the only thing to have aggro. If you are farming minions why do you need "extra" survivability? And by the time you have finished "gathering" them, a fire/kin troller is already on to the next mob.
Your entire argument is not, um, good.
2 - The difference between killing the mobs in 5 or 7 seconds is not worth the potental downtime of dying. You make no $$ when you are flat on your back.
3 - I can build an AE mission that will take advantage of the aggro abilities of a tank...solo. When you hit the aggro cap, anything extra ignores you until ether aggro wears off or a spot opens up on your aggro list. By throwing taunts around I can keep mobs coming at me while never stopping the carnage.
Your entire, slightly insulting, counter argument is, um, funny and entertained me. -
Quote:Sure tankers can farm, but the idea behind farming is to maximize rewards for time spent farming. If you want to do that then pick a scrapper (elec, spines), troller (fire/kin) or brute (elec, SS.) If you honestly think your SD/Axe will beat any of those then you haven't experienced just how good they are.
I think it depends more on what you are farming. If I am going for purples, a high minion count is the method of choice for me. In that case the killing speed between the three AT's listed is marginal and I would prefer the extra aggro control along with extra survivability as I gather and position them.
Pure killing speed is not the only measure of how well any set can farm. -
Praetorian version of Paragon Protectors and the Revenant Hero Project?
-
Boundless Willpower, in the context used, is nothing more than a phrase for flavor. Unless he can beat Blue Steel in a staring contest I am doubtful that his willpower is going to be any factor outside of a plot device for why he can control the demons to begin with.
That being the case, Desdemona has the same "Boundless Willpower" to control demons. -
Quote:And Infernal cannot control the demons that he binds with his power in his armor?
(I believe he can)
I think it is the other way. Infernal can only control the demons he has bound to his armor. If Desdemona can interrupt that she has the upper hand.
There is also another thing to conceder. Infernal is at least half Demon. Desdemona can control demons.... -
Quote:I farm decently on my ice/ss (and a few other tank builds) . Not sure why shield/elec keeps coming up as a softcapped elec shield is almost as survivable and does way more damage.
Because the question was about Tank farmers and not Scrapper farmers?
Personally I prefer Tanks over Scrappers for farming. I do all of mine Solo and I find the extra survivability of the tank allows me more flexibility in the mobs I choose to farm. The difference between killing all the mobs in 5 or 7 seconds is less than the ability to gather another spawn and having time to position myself before starting my attacks. -
I am a bit surprised that Shield did not rate better. Why was this?
-
There is something people seem to be forgetting. Desdemona can not only summon demons, but she can also control them. She was able to control a creature that nearly killed Statesman in a single shot. That is some power for you right there.
So, is her power strong enough that she could overcome the spells that bind the demons to Infernals armor and use them as a weapon in the battle? If nothing else it would nullify some of his power at the cost of her own.
Honestly I put my money on Desdemona. Trained by Ghost Widow in the Mu arts.
Now, in AE it would be a different story. Will have to see how her powers work in game to really tell. -
Quote:You can farm just fine with stone/fire. You need five things:
1) Granite
2) Rooted
3) Mud Pots
4) Fire Sword Circle
5) A good book.
Set the difficulty to +whatever/x8, turn on Granite and Mud Pots, and enter the mission. Walk up to the first spawn, turn on Rooted, and set Fire Sword Circle to autofire. Start reading your book. When you stop hearing Fire Sword Circle hit things, turn off Rooted and move on to the next spawn.
That sounds like the slowest possible way to farm. When I think farming I think speed and rewards. I also tend to think Solo. hence my love of Fire/.
Any tank is going to have the tools to survive farming groups. Fire and Shield give you extra offense to help you clear the groups faster. WP is another good choice if you do not like having to slow down for Endurance. -
Quote:American BBQs are the best imo. I grew up spending much of my time with Americans from a USAF base here in England as I went to Sunday School learning from the American Standard Bible and we celebrating anything given the chance. Even now every year my family have a BBQ almost every weekend through summer with family around.
Another true and useless fact
We must remember that there is a difference between grilling and BBQ. I grill. I am a great griller. I make things on the grill that are incredible. None of that is BBQ. BBQ is it's own beast and deserves the category that it is named for.
On weekly food traditions, I am an Italian so Sunday is Sauce time (Gravy if you are so inclined). All day simmering on top of pasta with Grandmas meatball recipe. Great stuff I tell ya. -
I don't mean to derail the derailment but....
BBQ Pie?
Discuss... -
Tanks do make good farmers, and a different style of farming to boot.
Personally I prefer Fire or Shield for a primary. Fire is an early blooming set that has all the tools you would ever need for Solo farming and great burst damage potential in Fiery Embrace. Shield also brings a good amount of offense as well as Shield Charge to leverage the damage bonus.
For offence you cannot go wrong with Fire. My pick in the past has been SS, just for the extra damage you can put out with Rage. SS goes very well with Shield, as well as Fire.
Lately I have grown to really like Electric for a secondary when paired with Shield. Double Tele-AoE, lots of multi-target attacks, and a good damage type. -
A couple more
Arachnos flyer, Outside Spawn. The time limit is the key here.
Drop ship. Time limit merged with insane resists and HP along with deadly lasers. It takes too many slows to get a chance to deliver the damage. -
The Rikti officers that beamed down, controlled by devs, were near impossible to kill. 50 heroes in KR all swinging away and doing no damage.
Great event...I was hoping the hints they dropped a while back were going to bring the mothership back in some way.
