Been a while, so whats new with Fire tanks

It has been about a year and a half since I last visited the wonderful world of City of Heroes. During that time I was on a pie strike so I did not get to keep up that much.

So imagine my surprise when I come back and see a massive amount of changes for my Fire/SS tank.

- Inherent fitness pools. This was one of the items we never thought would happen yet here it is. This alone allows me some flexibility in my build in that I can now fit Fireball.

- Fiery Embrace. What did they do to my baby!?!?! I almost cried when I saw they changed it. Gave it a run and have since changed my mind. Extra fire damage on my SS attacks, some that are already slotted with procs..it makes me smile.

- Burn. Oh wonderful Burn!! I remember when I could stack it 6 times and practically melt AVs away. Then it was hit, and hit hard. Now it is just as I had dreamed it would be, rounding out a nice collection of AoE and PBAoE attacks.

Did I miss any changes? The ones I noticed so far have seemed very positive to me and inspired a respec so I could pick up Fireball and Burn.

only other thing i would say you missed was these but they were to all tankers

Tanker Inherents New Inherent: Bruising -- When a Tanker uses a Secondary Tier 1 power, a Bruising effect occurs which is a 20% resistible damage resistance debuff which lasts for 10 seconds. Note: only one application of this effect on a given target is possible at a time.

Maximum Health: Increased Tanker Maximum Health multiplier from 2 to 2.2. At level 50, this means a Tanker's maximum health when buffed increases from 3213 to 3534.

Bruising sounds interesting. I did not notice it when playing last night, but I was running flashbacks to the new low level missions. Does it have much of an impact?

I like the health increase too. Need to check out my WP tank and see how it impacts his max health now.

On a side note: I missed this game SO much

I have found that on a tight team, against a hard target (AV or such) it can make a difference. Keep in mind that it's only on the Tier1 attack.

Example: Was in an ITF, full team, but we wound up with that Nictus that heals like a god. Got all but my Fire/Fire/Pyre tank and a stalker (only meleers on the team), we managed to take it down with only a few buffs from the rest of the team. That's the mob that has the range of Hami, and any PC in range fuels it's healing. I could almost maintain by myself, required a bit more damage to take it down thus the need for the stalker.

Temp Protection now gives slow resistance.

Consume has endurance drain resistance.

The Temp Protection change was from right before I left so I was aware of that. I was not aware of the change to Consume. i guess that is why I am not feeling as much pain from Carnies anymore. Very nice!

Got my new build setup and have been running flashbacks and incarnate trials so far. Very impressed with how the changes have improved performance.

I wish it took knockback sets. Kinetic Crash x 6 and enjoy the spectacle of levelling the battlefield (and the awesome bonuses that set gives).

They ALL float down here. When you're down here with us, you'll float too!

Bruising is automatically inherent to the tankers tier 1 attack, if you fire it off and it connect, its debuffs the enemy resistance by 20% to all incoming damage for 10 seconds. Quite useful against those extra sturdy opponents.

Thing to note: Bruising is immune to the "Purple Patch". Unlike other -resist debuffs this one will be 20% no matter what level the enemy is (as long as you land the attack that is.)

Something along the lines of Dechs Kaison's Berserker set?

I have not played my Fire Tank in years so not sure if, as a whole for the set, a change to the power is justified. In isolation, though, the power still is lacking for a tank. A power that requires the tanker to fail at his job to work is of extremely limited value (Dark Armor's one has similar issues but at least their version has so strong Stun it can stun AVs)

So that being told, without even looking at the current state of the game, I would love this power to be usable while you are low in HP.

Perhaps a conditional... The lower your HP, the more damage it does. If you use it with more than 50% HP, it does no damage or knockback, it just heals you to full.

If you manage to click it before you die (at 5% hp), it does about 50% the damage and knockback.

If you are dead, it does what it does now.
