No you can't - it's still discrimination, and discrimination is wrong.

Oh so that's what it was! I did ask but she didn't say.

I am not surprised at the ban but would suggest that its probably a joke (satirical?) made more at the idiocy of past comic publishers that did not of come out as intended.

    [/ QUOTE ]

There were people saying that sexist portrayals of women in games based on comics were ok, because that's the way they were portrayed in comics, so I was pointing out the problem with that idea - it means you'd have to include all the other "traditional" things from comics, like the racism - if you're going to try and excuse negative gender portrayals as traditional, then you have to try and excuse negative racial portrayals too - they're both equally bad.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ahh but the portrayal of women that way in comics continues, however the racism has ended unless of course the comic is written by Reginald Hudlin

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's my point - it's double standards - you can't have racism = bad, sexism = ok - they're both forms of discrimination, and if a game is going to allow sexism because it's part of the source material "tradition", then they're also going to have to allow racism for the same reason.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You can have racism as long as it's not against a minority.

Sorry, I don't understand the point you're making.

Why would you put an enhancement that you didn't want in a power?

And if it was a power you wanted to respec out of, why would you spend loads putting IOs into it?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Because that's what a respec is for?

For example you have a choice between two powers A and B, A is blasty move and B is a hold.

At patch number 8 B is the better move

Patch number 9 comes along and B is worthless now so you'd like to take A instead, taking the SO's out of B you buy some for move A.

You also have situations where you might want to switch from a leveling up build to a PVP build or a super good at one certain task build.

Seriously do you honestly think it's an exploit that they haven't fixed in nearly five years?
  6. CactusBrawler

    Earnable Respec

10 per respec, so that's 30 with just the in game earn able ones, 40 if it's a new issue, 50 if it's also been a year since you started playing.

Now why would they allow you to get enhancements back?

Simple you spec out a hold power and spec in a ranged damage power/taunt/melee what ever, something that doesn't use holds.

These hold enhancements can be reclaimed and thus sold and used to buy new ones you can actually use, whether IO/SO/HO.

Since that's the way it worked all along it can't be an exploit, after all they've only had since putting the terra volta trial in to correct it if they didn't like the way it worked.

I find this odd. I'm a 33 month veteran. I'm not sure how many respecs off the bat that entitles me to (at least, without looking it up) but since the vet rewards were introduced, I've never done a respec trial, nor have I ever bought a respec recipe. Why? 'Cos I've never needed ones that weren't supplied for nowt.

I'll say again, if you're burning that many respecs between vet rewards and freespecs, you really need to look at the way you're doing things rather than ask for the game to be changed.

    [/ QUOTE ]

48 months here and on my main PvP toons i haven't got a single respec. While i do use mids it can't help me to foresee huge changes like the ones seen in i13.

    [/ QUOTE ]

but i13 came with a a free speck so that shouldnt have cost you a actual respec

    [/ QUOTE ]
While I don't agree with the "as many full respecs as you want" idea, Rent did go on to say:

    [ QUOTE ]
Yes we get a free respec with every new issue but it doesn't solve the problem of swapping more than 10 enhancements. I've used up to 7 respec's to totally clear out a toon of enhancements before deletion.

    [/ QUOTE ]
...so in that light the I13 freespec wouldn't do the job on its own.

With Set IOs in I can see the need for some way to transferring more than 10 enhs off a toon; ideally with some sort of relatively accessible cut down respec, that would let you (say) move as many enhs as you had AH slots for into there to deal with later.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Except that using a respec to free up enhancements is not what they were designed for. If anything, this could be seen as an exploit, and rather than facilitating that process, I wouldn't be surprised if it was a hole that was plugged by one means or another. Rightly so in my opinion.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Honestly what makes you say that?

Is it the way that they've always allowed you to keep some of the enhancements?

Since respecs first entered the game?

But do they see themselves as evil or not?

Some one could say kidnap the homeless and perform tortures experiments on them, with the rest of the world calling them evil, the kidnapper could see themselves as doing what's "good" or "necessary"
  10. [ QUOTE ]
so what level toons are you pitching at MG , and from you first post [ QUOTE ]
Although Villains, the members of the group are more on the "branded evil" side, and have mostly just done things that weren't 'bad' in their eyes.

[/ QUOTE ]..does this mean you dont want real criminals ? or do you mean you do not want "evil" characters ie half demon ,pet puppy roasting ,random decapatating , kill all humans , cyborg ultra killing machines types ?

    [/ QUOTE ]

More people who do what they want, but don't think them selves evil?

  12. Miles away from Paragon City in his artic stronghold from which the chaos was being launched at the struggling heroes the Baron smiled at the actions of the clever Justice For All.

“Nicely done hero.... but lets see how you handle this!” his fingers flicked over the control panel.

    --------------------------------------------------------

Underground where the hologram transformed Leeches and Mysticism were facing off things were becoming hectic.

One of the lobster men went down under the bots lasers, pistol still firing as they fell into the dirty sewer water, several fled behind Mysticism, returning driving a large vehicle attached to the front of which was a large drill, with a whir the vehicle started to drill into the ceiling away from the hero and villain, pulled behind it was a wagon and in the wagon sat a very large metallic cylinder, on the cylinder some one had helpfully painted a large skull and cross bones.

“B...boss you've got to take her down!” the youngest of the lobster men appealed to Mysticism before with a squeal lasers sent him crashing to the ground stunned.

    -----------------------------------------------------------

In the streets there was silence and then the muted sound of an engine, the floor trembled slightly and then with a roar the drill vehicle broke through the pavement.

“For the rebellion!” the driver screamed as he drove directly at Benedict Plaza.

    ----------------------------------------------------------

On the ground below Justice For All a large box teleported in, there was a whirr and a strange noise as the box unfolded, drew in on itself, revolved and changed.

In place of the box stood a large robot, twenty five feet tall, wearing a pair of cowboy boots and blue jeans, on it's head rested a large cowboy hat, a large wire wool beard framed it's chin.

Digitally it targeted the flying hero as he froze the water supply, and then with a sound like thirty motorbikes revving up it ran and roundhouse kicked a park car, sending the vehicle scything through the air towards the hero alarm blaring.

  18. With a sound like a cosmic pfttooie Strangelet is returned to Paragon City, straight back into Steel Canyon a place now covered in hieroglyphics and sword wielding mushroom men, a few raptors still stalked from the distance the wail of bag pipes rose over the car alarms.

    ----------------------

The mushroom men weren't particularly strong but they can take a beating, spongy flesh lessening the impact of blows, when injured they'd crawl away to a source of water and douse themselves, regrowing their form at tremendous rate.

As the mushroom men continue their relentless wave of attacks against Justice For All and Enlightened Falcon, the wail of the bagpipes rose and fell.

    ------------------------

“Oh ho it's that vampiric bi...” the Baron glanced to his side “.. fool, that vampiric fool Leeches! Lets see how much fun we can have with her!”

    ---------------------

Within the sewers a new wave of nanites swam in the waters and other liquids, crawling up the body of Leeches and Mysticism they had a singular purpose to project a one way hologram, each would see the other as one of the lobster people and yet looking at themselves would seem normal.

    --------------------

“It'll set all the air in the city on fire Captain, you designed it your self Captain!” the boy lobster enthused to Mysticism, “You've got brains as well as beauty and courage!”

“Awww you'll set the boss to blushing Cid” the veteran cautioned.

The sound of approaching footsteps announced Leeches arrival in the rebel base, lobster looking hero meet lobster looking 'villain'

“Boss look out it's one of the Commissar's elite assassins!” drawing a pistol one of the lobster rebels started taking pot shots at Leeches, positioning himself between her and Mysticism
