Quote:Again, in the real world your name is only part of your identity. To the superhero, his name is his identity. You don't get newspaper articles about "Sparky Flame Man (the one with a targeting monocle, boost range, and doesn't have leadership powers, and his address is @rsclark in Steel Canyon) saves kitten!"
Think of it less literally. If someone acts in your name (i.e. identity theft) and purchases a large quantity of things, your credit rating is at risk.
There are currently like four different Batman's.
There have been two Supermen active at once.
There are four green lanterns who call Earth home.
There are two sometimes three Flash's running around.
So yeah, screw your special snow flake idea. -
-
I'd like it if they snagged the name system from Cryptics game.
-
Just had a couple of lock ups and crashes simply logging into a character, exact same settings that allowed me to play for a couple of hours.
On the third attempt, didn't crash. -
75% GPU useage but no crash on a Preatorian map team.
-
Okay I went through the entire isntall folder and changed it so that every CoH related shortcut was set to run in windows XP compatability mode, and as admin.
Haven't crashed yet, and Afterburner is showing GPU useage as 50ish percent, rather than the 90-100% I was getting before hand.
Don't know if it was changing the exe's or the driver reinstall that has caused that though. -
Yes to both questions.
I'll try switching to US settings now.
Edit to add.

Ran the Nvdia uninstaller, booted into safe mode and ran the Phyxion.net sweeper, then rebooted and reinstalled Nvidia drivers. Ran CoHHelper again, got the same error message about reading the registry.
Edit to add: Obviously can't check if this has fixed the crashes until the servers are back up.

Oh are either of the competing games planning to add a base building feature?
Because I enjoyed both games. -

Upgraded to a new system, having no problem with others games. I can run the Heaven tester in Open GL mode with no problem.
However when playing City of heroes the game will hang, along with the system for a few seconds followed by a message that my display driver has crashed. This of course kills City of heroes.
Not sure if CoHHelper worked right, sinc eit gave me some error about reading the registry.

I wish they'd focus more on the costume designer and super group base building system, its the only real thing other than the AE that CoX has better than the competition.
Particularly the base building, neither competing game has that. -
I'm glad, the Doctor versus Jack the Ripper, would be cliché as would Jack the Ripper is actually an alien/demon/timelord/Dalek in a top hat.
-
Quote:My favorite part would be the Jem and the Holigrams, Over one shoulder, super long, knee length sweater...with a big belt!!!! (If in the baggy shirts section I could even have a bra strap showing!!!)
Complete it with big hair and giant leg warmers and well...HAPPY! Day!
It would be truely outragious!
truely truely outragious? -
An entire booster pack of nothing but shoulder pads and big hair?
^%&* YEAH! -
Quote:I'm totally with you on the gun+sword thing, but I think it might work better as a Dual Pistols Blaster with Katana power proliferation to the Blaster secondary. I don't think they could proliferate Dual Blades to Blasters because you probably wouldn't be in melee enough to generate the combos. I like the idea VERY much.
Having it as a primary + secondary would cause a whole lot of redraw. -
Simple answer to the Libary problem? The Riversong that died was a flesh replica, stablised either from exposure to the tardis or from time travel.
-
Quote:To say that something isn't done because that would be non-teen rates is saying there is something wrong with being non-teen rated.
Actually there isn't a games rating board that covers online content. In other words the Dev's could have the last boss of the incarnate trials be a fully naked, 100% accurately modeled Emperor Cole, who fires rainbow beams from his 100ft Wing wong.
As long as said files weren't on the disc in stores, the rating would remain teen. -
I want to know more about the possibly steampunk lesbian lizard and her maid.
Been guessing the big spoiler all season though, so yeah not that surprising. Though the Doctors giggle was.. creepy.
Next episodes name? AWESOME!
Little teaser for the next stuff?
Reminded me of the Darkest Night, Green lantern stuff. -
Quote:First set is in Astrals, Second in Empyreans. Hope you like the grind, ladies and gents, because it costs 401 emp merits to get the entire set of glowy Acension armour. Yes, those costs are per PIECE, not the entire set. The same goes for auras and emotes; the above cost unlocks ONE out of the many.
Yeah **** those numbers. -
Quote:Hmm isn't it easyioer to get purpled out as Solo? At least as a farming build? While it wasn't AS easy to get purpled and IOed out while solo, it was nowhere near the gap that currently exists for incarnate buffs. I farmed and paid inflated prices for my build, yes, but was able to do so by what I did solo in game. I was done with that first build in what I felt was a properly comparable time to the time spent by my team-minded brother.
As for the HO period... I was one of the evil punks that would show up during the hold phase. -

Quote:it is a balance. some people dislike the change, some very much so, some others, including a poster with whom i have fought for years now have posted how a real endgame has caused him to return and reactivate his sub. nobody has real numbers past heavily biased anecdotes, and objectively saying that it has either been universally loved or universally disliked is very likely inaccurate. its being given a chance by a good number of players, it will have to be improved, and change will scare some people into leaving, this is unavoidable and staying exactly the same(focusing on tfs and mechanically similar story arc missions) may or may not have caused just as many people to leave out of boredom, and continued lack of challenge. there really are no facts at evidence other than some people on the internet are angry, as they always are, and a new system will need refined several times before it becomes optimal.
The problem is the system has already been optimised by the current market leader.
But no rather than having y'know a normal TF sized team advancement mode (which might be a little bit slower than the raid (I believe they are called 'heroics')) as well as the raids, they went just with raids and told us there might be pie for us tomorrow. Unfortunately 'tomorrow' appears to be a mixture of condescending parental maybe and Valve time. I.E Maybe in two years after subscription numbers have slipped to the point we are worried about our jobs. -
Quote:True story: A dev told me in beta they were afraid people wouldn't run the trials they put so much work into if there was an alternative (even if the alternative was slower).
Instead of just making sure the trials are fun and stand on their own merits, they decided to force play of them by making them the only way to advance.
Dear god, if that's true then the Dev's fail.
They fail firstly for trying to force people to all play in the same style, despite people playing how they want for seven years.
The biggest fail though is they are forcing people to play content that frankly doesn't work. What's that you don't have the latest cutting edge computer? Well enjoy your graphical lock ups and crashes, because you have to put up with it, if you want to progress. That's not even mentioning the fact the LFT system doesn't work as it should, the whole trial getting kicked from the map, pseudo pets/pets not counting towards rewards screwing over entire ATs, the terrible server lag on the BAF when it gets to the bit where you're trying to prevent prisoners escaping.
If the Dev's really want people to play the trials, how about solving all the problems with them first, and y'know making them fun and not a laggy, glitchy, frustrating cluster ****?
