  1. Because I'm just a not so innocent bystander. My group of friends called me that fairly frequently many years ago. I also was known as dim, which is short for Dimension, which was the name I used on a BBS back in the late 80's and early 90's (and where I got to know most of my friends).

In the early days of the City forums, you could have as few as three characters as your name, and I had dim as my name, but somewhere in there it changed to as few as five, and when I had changed it briefly to something else, I found I couldn't change it back without underscores (and I just felt those looked really unsightly). So I switched to Bystander, and after I14 updated my global from dim to Bystander as well (since I might as well be consistant about it).

While I'm glad that the official trackers are online now, I'm more happy that this one is working again, if for no other reason than it gives a partial preview of the post in question.

  10. Good luck to you A_C. It's been great reading your posts on the forums and it was a lot of fun teaming with you, even though I didn't team with you much. You've always been quite good at giving well reasoned arguments so I imagine you'll do quite well in school.

So good luck and definitely come back to visit for the reactivation weekends. It won't be quite the same without you.

    Virtue is dying

I must have gotten lucky. Logged on expecting Virtue to be full up or at least red like it normally is on double xp weekends. It was merely yellow, and had not a single hiccup the entire time I was on.

It changes colors and you can mouse over it to get a tooltip that gives a bit of detail. And yeah, I've turned it off as well. I can't stand things like that.

    My sentiments exactly.

edit: I should mention that I have turned all images off for myself, but I would ideally want to be able to see images in posts, just not images in signatures.

Hamidon raids are present in Praetoria, but no one is sure exactly what kinds of rewards he receives for completing them. Seeing Hamidon with a cape is almost worth watching him do a raid, though.

This is awesome, and now I kind of want to see it.

If that came with Jiggle Physics I'm sure that a good chunk of players would stick it out to get to 63...

  16. Leandro made one. I haven't used it personally yet, but he did great work with the Splasher, so this should be good too.

And Lighthouse...? Can we NOT get the HUGE, GIGANTIC, ENORMOUS flash header that we have now? Can't we change it to something more in line with a forum? Something that's only maybe 200 px tall at most? Something that's NOT FLASH?

    [/ QUOTE ]

The flash header is not planned to be re-used on the new vBulletin platform. We'll have more details on the "new" look as we get closer to deployment. The initial beta forums will be pretty plain-jane to start.

Ooo... a contest for the best fan-based banner would be all sorts of cool.

If they do that contest, I call dibs on submitting the banner of not having a banner.

You could craft it ahead of time and store it for when you need it.

    [/ QUOTE ]
yes, that's the mechanic of it, but still not explaining the benefits.

    [ QUOTE ]
Or craft and use one now, and have another waiting for when it wears off.

    [/ QUOTE ]
OK, now THAT's a good reason.

But it's a benefit geared to people who already craft these and want it to be easier to craft more of them. That doesn't help convince people to craft them in the first place. If I see a power as useless, I'm sure not crafting a backup copy of it, I'm not even crafting the copy to use now.

So what's the bigger problem here? The general uselessness of the table, or making it more convenient for the few recipes that people like to use? and should both parts be fixed at once, or just prioritize one of them and get coding time for other things?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Honestly, if they changed them to be that way, I would start using the Empowerment stations for some of those buffs. No question about it. Whereas now, I actually kind of feel ashamed for having crafted the station in the first place since it never gets used.

I didn't see that they fixed the character select screen yet. I can't seem to get mine to retain the order I arrange them in, even with my "remember account name" box checked.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Do you switch servers much? Last I checked, the file that it stores the order in gets overwritten every time you modify the order and every time you select a server... and only populates the file with the server you select. So if you set it up for one server, then go to another server to set that one up, it overwrites the file. I've even tried manually writing to the file to set the order with multiple servers, but no luck. What I haven't tried, and I'll try tonight, is making that file read-only so it CAN'T overwrite it.

Not to be a jerk, but some folks (like me) need some more info about your October M&G. Traveling from Ohio to Cali can be pricey, and I need to start making plans now. Is there anything you can tell us?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Understandable, but we're still investigating venues. So, not much to say other than the target dates in mid to late October.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If you didn't attend last year's, you'll need to understand: the Dave n Busters there was nice, but it was WOEFULLY underprepared for us. When they have an arrangement for what we know can be supported by a meet n greet population, trust me, it'll be better than "must have nao" - it was awesome, but it could have been better just because of the cramped arrangements in the D&B. I'm sure they'll find a good hotel for it, there are plenty right there.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If you're planning on coming to the next one, are you going to bring more glowsticks?

Edit: And I totally agree, D&B was far too small for the numbers we had.

"Ultimately, Miller and Grubb wanted to see a parity between the Villains and Heroes in the end-game and this expansion provides both sides with an even playing field as far as epic archetypes of their high level characters are concerned."

"The Crab Spiders have some pet and stealth tools to go with their melee arsenal, while the Bane Spider takes the warrior thing to an even further degree."

Looks like Crabs still get the Disrupters.

*wonders if "some" means other pets too*

    Poison Pill

    [/ QUOTE ]

Given that none of the Crabs in game have "stealth tools" that we've seen, but Banes do (at least in Placate), I'm guessing they switched the words around on accident. Which would imply that Banes still have the pets and Crabs don't.

<qr> Gotta post a little "doom" in here.. but just little.

I really love the ability to re-organize my characters by drag an drop. However, it seems the game has been doing that on it's own lately. Every day I log in, I wonder where my characters will be on my list.. then the next day, they're back to the original order. (well, maybe it's not THAT frequent.. but what's a little doom without a little exaggeration? )

Will this drag and drop stop that issue or will we be dragging and dropping every other day?

    [/ QUOTE ]

My characters reorganize themselves so frequently that I literally have no idea what the original order was for them. I imagine that this would include a fix for that bug, possibly even using that bug as a part of the new feature (I know I've done stuff like that several times).
  24. [ QUOTE ]
Now just to choose between Pinn and Virtue..

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think I'll be splitting between those two in all likelihood. And I'm entirely amused that just Sunday I deleted several characters. I don't mind though, I wanted to reserve I12 names anyway

Thanks muchly, Posi and everyone! This is really great news to hear, and I really, really like how its being done.
