  1. Maybe I just suck at farming lol. I've been farming Unai's map with the old Council and its been going alright. Is there something better to farm with a Ss/Fire?
  2. Simple question, probably a hundred answers. I'm looking at making someone to farm for Purple recipes. It seems silly but I'm a scrooge, and I don't want to spend money on purple recipes if I can go out there and stock up my base on my own. Also, with Double XP weekend coming up, I'm trying to find someone I can really rake in the XP that weekend. I just have 3 simple questions.

    1)What to farm?
I'm thinking that either Demons or Freaks would be the best because of their inherent weaknesses to something. I know Freaks suck when it comes to XP, but when it comes to Purples that should matter. And with Demons, they hate cold and give good XP. Freaks also Rez, so with Unai's map on +0/x8, you'd prolly have better chances since they get up again. Might slow down the farming process, but more kills = more chances.

    2)What Archetype?
I would think Brutes would be the obvious answer(hence why I posted in this forum), but I know that farming regular content, you're not in the Ideal Brute situation like with a Fire Farm as to where you're surrounded all the time. So would a Scrapper be a better choice? Also, like if I was farming Freaks, would a Peacebringer be a good choice with Freaks inherent weakness to Energy?

    3)What power combo?
SS/Fire is king in Fire ambushes because Rage and burn are so great, but farming other stuff(this is just my Experience w/ 45% S/L defense and 65% S/L Resistance) they aren't as amazing. Demon's have great resistance to S/L, so taking advantage of the armor you're safe, but damage output you're gimped because of the type of damage you do.
I know the Combo really depends on the AT and the Mob so this one I'll leave open.

Builds would be appreciated too since I'm still kind of working at getting better building stuff. any advice would be appreciated ^_^. Ty for reading

    Odd Question

thanks for all the feedback guys. Right now its a tough tie between Bots/Thermal or Demons/Pain. I like Pain having a massive Debuff move that it can cast on auto with Anguishing Cry (like I said, top notch Defense, great resistance, and Healing flames really makes it to where I don't need healing) and Bots are top notch w/ AoE and Thermal has Forge. But, I think I may wait so I can make Demons/Sonic and make either bots/Pain or Bots/Thermal for now just so I can get used to playing MM's (I mainly play Trollers). that and Sonic Demons...o the noise the noise..people will not want to be next to me at Wentworths/Black Market lol

    Odd Question

I usually don't have too much of a problem keeping enemies together. Sometimes Footstomp knocks them back a little bit, but I usually throw fences before I footstomp just so that I can force them into my burn Patch and do FS afterwords. I just figured Since Demon's do Fire/Cold/Poison damage that they'd put out more than Bots. I know Bots have a majority of Energy damage, but isn't most of it S/L as well where foes would resist it more?

    DP/what?

My main and my namesake is a DP/Fire/Ice. And let me tell you, it is AWESOME. You get Capped Defenses w/ Ice, Fire for awesome Melee range Damage, and DP is amazing as it is.

Best combo ever, I took Stealth pool because it was thematic with the Character and I run Solo alot. What you do is do Invisibility w/ Hot Feet on. then, position yourself in the middle of a Mob. Since Invis is on, and only affecting you, Hot feet doesn't piss off the mobs yet. Do Build Up, pop off Ivis, and they are all trapped in your Hot Feet aura. Hail of Bullets + Fire sword Circle + Burn = Dead mob. Boo yah!

    Odd Question

Alright, so here is the situation. My wife and I both have an account, and on her account I have a lvl 50 SS/Fire/Mu Brute that I Ambush farm with to level up my characters on my main account(sad isn't it?). Well anyways, here lately, I've been playing that Brute alot and have been doing the Unai council farm for purples. Usually after about 4 or 5 runs, I get 1 purple drop and call it a day.

Well the other day, my friend was bored and was coming with me with his Fire/Rad troller. he had to go pick up his kids, so he put his character on follow w/ Choking Cloud + Hot Feet and his imps on. My farming time increased dramatically wit him following me on Auto with the Imps cutting down people left and right and Choking cloud + Hot feet keeping them in place and hurting them.

So here is my question, I've been wanting to make a MM for a long time now, but have really never found one that I enjoyed much. I'm thinking about building one to follow me around and help me farm, but also be something I enjoy playing when I'm on my account. What I want to know is:
1)What MM pet does the most Damage on it's own? Looking at Mid's and Red Tomax, it looks like Demon's and Bot's are the best. My only concern with bots is the KB, which would slow down farming a bit. So I'm leaning more towards Demons at the moment, but everyone seems inclined that Bots do the most damage and are the best.

2)What secondary would be good for farming purposes? Right now I have no idea. I plan to have the character flying and following me, casting something on Auto. His Fire/Rad was casting heal nonstop (not that I really needed it, but it was nice). I was thinking /Pain because you could do a Heal, and have the Pain Bubble on so that I'd get a Regen bonus. I really liked Rad's Choking Cloud and Fire's Hot Feet doing the wonders it did, but, I've always wanted to make a MM and having 5 pets that are awesome versus 3 imps that are insane sounds better. Do any of the others secondaries have something similar to CC and HF?

I'd love to hear your thoughts. I know this is a stupid request, because a SS/Fire/Mu farmer should be able to slaughter anything (especially with 45% S/L Defense and 65% S/L Resistance). But the pets do help speed things up, and like I said, I want a fun MM to play that can help w/ Farming and with playing regular content. Money is no object, so go nuts. Thank you for your time ^_^
  7. Thank you all for the feed back so far. I'll address each thing individually.

Deacon: I didn't even think of the Kismet IO. That's a great idea for an accuracy buff across the board!

Local: Thanks for the compliment . I'll try to respond to every bit of advice.

*Deceive: what can I say, I'm impatient lol. Not so much on a team,
because sadly before I can get an AV mezzed, he's generally dead anyways because the group has slaughtered him, but when Solo, Mezzing the AV is a good way to thin out the heard. But, I noticed it didn't make that much of a difference adding Accuracy instead of Contagious confusion so I thought I'd post the build as it was that moment to see everyone's thoughts. I'll either do the Kismet idea Deacon suggested, put Contagious back in there, or put the slot somewhere else.

*Healing: Luckily, I didn't have to pay for the Panacea set. I earned the set PVP'ing with another character after a couple months of working and trading with SG friends, so thats why I used it. I had Doctored wounds before, but what can I say, I'm a number junky, so if I can get another 2% out of something, its an extra second I don't have to worry about Phantom army being up. I had thought about selling it for a Ragnarok set or something else..but with the Musculature set on him I didn't know if it'd be worth it. But I obviously missed where I could move Glimpse of the Abyss to Spectral if I dropped Posi. So I think I'll save up some cash and do that and put the Panacea set in my base till I decide I don't need it ^_^.

*Incarnate: Well I can say pretty confidently that Void isn't going so well for judgement lol. It's a PBAoE, so you gotta be willing to rush in and bomb. The Debuff is pretty nice, but it doesn't seem to do much extra, so I'll prolly go back and get Pyronic for pure damage. I really like Musculature for my Alpha, it was a really hard choice between that an spiritual. But, the added power to Debuff and holds is great. I'm still torn as to whether to get Spiritual thought because the Heal is really nice and more Recharge is always good.

Again, thank everyone for the Advice. I've been playing my Ill/Rad more here lately than my Fire/Rad. Think I may roll up another Troller here soon or go to the Dom side and see what they can offer. But for now, being able to solo most content and taking down Gm's is a blast!
  8. I've never really seen the need for Fire shield for what minimum resistance it offers. I've got PA permanent, so as soon as they are starting to cool down I can cast the next wave, so I never lose the GM's attention. And if for some reason there is a failure and I die, I can RoTp and return to the battle immediately and get everything reset with the invulnerability it gives me. I had it on there before and I just found I was never using it

Another thing I was going to ask, are any of the Patron pools worth taking for what I'm doing? I thought about taking Soul mastery for damage AND debuff, but I was a little sketchy if it would be as good as Pyre mastery is
  9. Alright, first and foremost, Local_Man, your guide is amazing and I love your build so I'm using the one you came up with some of my own modifications so sorry if it looks really close to yours.

Here's what's going on, I'm doing the Incarnate stuff now and am having a problem choosing what new Incarnate powers I want. To be plain and simple, I want to be able to solo GM's easier.

I've solo'd Jack In Irons and Kraken no problem, but some monsters (Eochai and Lusca in particular) I'm having a problem beating down. So my thoughts are:
Lore - Warworks for their superior Damage
Judgement - Void for it's Debuff ability
Interface - Either Reactive for it's Resistance debuff ability or Diamagnetic for it's Regen debuff...can't decide here
Destiny - Ageless for more Hasten ability...or Barrier for Defense..don't know here either

So that's what I've come for help with. This build is amazing... but am I missing something for GM slaying? Also, what new Incarnate abilities would go for what I need? I took Musculature for my Alpha slot so that PA and Phantasm would output more damage as well as my Debuffs would do alot more. I just don't know what to take for the others. tyvm for looking!
  10. thanks for the link in your sig that really helped out. And as for making a Ss/Fire/Mu Brute for regular content, I def plan on it. It feels like a powerful character and the pure amount of AoE and impressive ST damage it can put out is amazing, so I know running it in ITF and things like that it has to be a beast. I mean thats why its down Solo MoITF with no problem. I just need to get to saving up money to make a separate build for every day use
  11. Thanks for all the advice so far. I'm having trouble with the binds/Macros portion. I went under the players guide and went to the "Compiled List of Binds" and was able to find how to Bind a key to just pop Red inspirations...thats it. Binds are a newer concept to me. I'm looking for:
A bind that will pop all Red inspirations you have
A bind that will delete anything that is not a red.

I couldn't find them on his list under Inspirations so I was just wondering where you guys found them. I just found the one that will break down 3 of anything into Rage's, still haven't found the other two. Thanks a lot for the help. Anything I can do to cut down the time on my farming is a Godsend!
  12. Yes I had read that forum posts, but I guess I lost your guys builds in the middle of the 11 pages of people arguing lol. Thank you for the Id's though I'll have to try those out if they are better than Fire Cyborgs.

And to answer your question, I enter the mish in with 15 red insps, but I haven't set up the Macro's up yet. I generally just pop 7 to 8 at first, then when those burn off, pop another 7 to 8. After that, I just focus on Rage and embrace to carry me through the rest. Guess I'd better read up on that forum post and the macros section in the other forum and get to work on those.
  13. I tried searching the forums for some of the best builds on farming and to get some advice on mine before I posted a forum asking help, but I haven't found "The Ultimate SS/Fire Brute". So I wanted to post my build get some critiques and let everyone know what I wanted to do and see if I could achieve that rather easily.

    |-------------------------------------------------------------------|
So what I wanted to go for was as much recharge as possible. When I farm, I use 2 accounts. Account A is the character I want to Power Level, aka Veng Bait. Account B is my SS/Fire Brute. Using Veng, I can softcap all my Defenses without wasting slots in doing so. It makes me useless in regular content and feels like a crutch, but it is an easy alternative to hitting your soft cap with ease. That and with the massive recharge, it is always up with no problem. The rest is pretty self explanatory SS/fire Brute goodness.

    Problems:
Right now, I'm doing the Crey's fire Cyborgs missions at +2/x8. It takes me on average 5-7 minutes to complete it at this setting for hitting the ticket cap (killing both ambush spawns and decimating the first floor). While I feel this is a good speed, I'd like to be able to do it faster if Possible. The things that are holding me back are Rage Crashes(which don't last very long) and not always being at 750% damage output. Always having my attack chain up is never an issue (FS + Burn + Fences + Ball Lightning), but when Rage crashes it slows me down quite a bit.

What I'm looking to achieve if possible is a happy medium of Recharge and Damage output. I would love it if I didn't have to depend on Rage at all, but I don't see it being able to happen. Double Rage is just too nice and I can't figure out how to get to that 750 constantly without it and some reds.

Also, this build can't do +4/x8. Let me rephrase that, it can't do it efficiently. It takes too long. I go from 5-7 minutes to 13-16 minutes, and wanting to power level up my new characters its too slow. What can I do to modify him so that he can tackle +4/x8 at about the same speed as +2? Do I have to all out invest in Purple sets and Pvp Sets? Or can it be done by simple rearranging slots? Also, for trying to get it done quickly, are there better maps out there than Crey's Fire cyborgs?

    Thank you for your time!
  14. My build must be really bad because no one can help me lol. I got him to 50 today and i have him with this set up (Minus Panacea set, I've got the Numina set instead with an extra Healing/Recharge from Doctored wounds on there for now) and tried taking on Eochai. I had him held with no problem, the debuff was helping, the Imps were doing decent, but I couldn't choke him and my end was just bottoming out. Even with Hot Feet + Choking Cloud, he acted like it was no big deal and eventually just started one shotting my imps and then coming after me.

Most Av's crumble with jut Hot Feet + Choking cloud + Rad Infection and Imps, but I Know Giant Monsters are tougher for a reason. I know it can be done, but I'm just wondering what kind of set up you have to have to take down their massive Regen and resistance. Frankenslotting? Or is the problem that I've slotted wrong and I'm focusing on the wrong things. please help!
  15. Alright I just got my Fire/Rad up to 47, not much longer and I'll be able to purple him out and start working on his alpha slot. He's been doing great, but I've always wanted to make a build for Giant Monster hunting. In his current state, he can't do it (which suprises me, but I'm sure the Purples will help out). This is the current Build I have for him in mind.

I need some help though. I really want to be able to make him where he can solo Gm's. My plan is to make him go Rogue and travel both Red and Blue side and solo every GM. I know that it can be done, but I don't know how to go about doing a build. Can anyone out there help me?

Also, I am really new to controllers (If my build doesn't give it away already :P) so I'm sure I may have really messed up on the slotting. He's been doing great so far, but I know for making him solo GM's this is not going to work. I also know there are some sets up there that are not needed (Panacea and Persuasion are the main ones I know I don't really need). Please help a n00b!
  16. Bullet Priest

    PVP Io's

I have a Stone/Fire tanker right now that I play when I play against my friends so I usually win by war of attrition, not a serious PVP toon. I was hoping to start getting some good PVP sets by doing this (Shield wall and Panacea are the ones I want the most), which I know I don't NEED them, but the bonuses are so nice in both PVE and PVP it makes me want them, but 30+ Hero merits is a pain and paying a billion to 2 for each enhancement is just crazy. I really don't want to PVP afk farm because I've heard how much people hate it and how toons get ganked and reported for doing it (which the ganking part is totally acceptable, it's a PVP zone, you're there to fight other people, you don't expect to get hurt?), but its looking like it might be the only viable option.

I know this is the big let down in PVP along with the lack of support for the game mechanics itself and it just makes me wonder why the dev's don't step in and do something. Granted I've only been playing for 3 months now so I'm sure alot will change in my time being here and I also play on Justice, which PVP is dead on there, but when it comes to risk vs reward, this is just crazy. You take maximum risk for a small hope of a decent reward. Ah well, like I said, I'm just doing it on the weekends to break up the PVE play, just can't believe I haven't scored one yet. Thanks for the feedback, just wanted to make sure I wasn't screwing up somehow lol
  17. Bullet Priest

    PVP Io's

well see thats the problem, I'm getting 100 Rep Valid kills back to back in a 6-8 hour time span even with the 5 minute delay. I should have seen a PVP Io by now I would have thought. I know the debs have made PVP a pain to play for those who really enjoy it, but I just can't believe the drops are that ridiculous too. I'll just keep playing and see how long it takes me to actually get one
  18. It's really all about what you're farming. a WP/FM would great for Rikti Farming (which you get Vanguard Merits on top of that). But are you farming AE or normal missions? In AE, you can make a farm for any toon. I have a Stone/Fire tanker that I farm(I know..Granite farming...oxymoron right?) with in AE. All the enemies are claws and do pure smashing/lethal damage, so I just ignore them. If you're doing the normal Behemoth/Axis farms, the WP might not be in your favor.

I my general experience though, Fire/fire/Pyre or Shield/Elec are the best I've seen when it comes to handling x8 mobs with ease. I rolled up a Fire/fire/Pyre myself, he's only at level 38 right now. But, I can do any AE fire farm with ease and the behemoth farm is a joke ^_^
  19. Bullet Priest

    PVP Io's

Hey everyone, new to PVP so be easy on me. My super group and I have been doing PVP for a couple of months now casually just as something to do to relax and have a good time outside the normal PVE game. Now I know that the drop rates for PVP Io's are extremely low, I've heard anyone where from 1:80 being hopeful, 1:200 being worse. Here's my question, I'm currently at 254 Rep, not a single PVP Io drop. We're not doing this for drops, we were just doing it for fun so that we could have a death match style game just to goof off and have fun, but none of us have seen any IO's in the SG and I'm the one with the highest rep right now.

We're playing in Warburg because everyone in my SG only have their high level characters blueside. My main question is, does hero vs hero get rid of the PVP io drops? Does Warburg have a diminished rate or no drop rate compared to other zones? I really want to start playing PVP in RV but the server I play on is dead half the time and I don't have billions of inf to invest on Pancea and Shield wall sets lol. Could someone tell me if I'm doing something wrong?
  20. Thanks for the advice Hyperstrike. I just have a few questions.

1)how would you Frankenslot Combustion? Frankenslotting is new to me and I don't quite have a full grasp on it yet so I'd like some advice. Also, since I farm alot and don't really have a problem with money (most of the time lol), I was looking at your build and saw how you'd slotted Scorch and firesword with regular Io's at the moment. Would you Frankenslot those as well or throw in more sets for bonuses?

2)If you chose Pyre mastery how would you do it differently? I love having Pyre mastery so I can get access to Fireball to round out my AoE set. I thought about taking Ice just so I could have its moves to add in and also
have Slow on myself to help round it out, but fire has kind of stuck with me.

3)The 3 Healing sets I have that give extra recovery and regen I'd like to keep using because the bonus is very nice. Would keeping those in Health like I have it right now be bad rather than just doing Healing IO's?

Again, thanks for helping a new guy out. As soon as I get some money built up again I'm going to do a third Active build and see if I'll be alright without the 6 slot in Stamina and try your current build kind of mixed with mine and see what I come up with. Any recommendations on a Non-Granite build?
  21. Ah, a fellow Stone/Fire ^_^. I just TP everywhere. 3 slots on TP so I can have 2 Space time manipulations and 1 Jaunt Range/End. Once you get TP herding down running around isn't that important. I do still have 5 GotA run speed increases and 3 slots in Swift because I hate being realllly slow, but thats mainly so that when I'm not in granite my Ninja Run feels like Super Speed.
  22. Currently the farm I'm doing is one of 2 AE farms so I can use the tickets to get Rare salvage easier for my recipes. The enemies in the level are Fire based enemies with all fire attacks, but are able to self rez so you get double xp, tix, and Prestige from killing them since you have to do it twice. That may be the main source of my frustration is that they are fire based, however they don't have an armor set or anything that gives them protection against my attacks so it has to be that I just can't do anything with the damage output i currently have right now.

I've tried running it just with the pre-Ganite armors (my secondary build has more focus on them than granite because I was trying to see if a Stone tank w/o Granite was viable), even at soft capped, but I turn into a really bad Ice tanker and fall multiple times.
  23. Some quick notes before I had to leave for work and did not get to finish everything.

    **10% Regen Rule of 5**
I didn't notice it, but I have more than 5 +10% regen bonuses through my Sets. Which one do you think I should drop in order to get a better set bonus or more efficiency?

    **Granite Armor slotting**
I have been having a hard time slotting Granite armor. I took the 6 to max out what I could do with it, but I have found no Sets or anything that really gets the most of it. with 3 53 Resistance and 3 53 Defense in there, I'm all set. i'd really like to put a set or somehing in there though that gives damage or recovery bonuses but still maintains my solid defense, but I have to sacrifice either Defense or Resistance to do that. should I leave it the way it is or is there a good set that would do it wonders?

    **Efficacy Adapter**
I know alot of people go for Performance shifter, and especially with the 5% increase to movement and me being Stone you'd think this would be a no brainer, but the bonuses from Efficacy are really good. Your thoughts?

    **Psuedo Farm? What?**
Ok, I have an account for me and my wife and my wife doesn't play as often as I do(matter of fact, I play every day, she plays once a week with me). So I go into AE and farm and level her character up so that it is equal with mine. Charcoal here can do the farms I do(Khan Exp Farm 2) but it is sllllooowwww. It's not the movement, as in Khan all the mobs spawn right on top of you and you don't have to move, its the fact that I don't do much damage. I've got 2 solid AoE's (fireball and fire sword circle) and one ok one (combustion), yet I can't seem to handle them fast enough. I'm currently doing it on +2 x8 w/ Bosses for best outcome..but it takes me so long to do it. That's why I'm needing help in the damage department so I can make him better in those situations. I know he's not going to be a Fire/Fire tanker by no means, but I just want him to be able to deal decent damage instead of what little he does now.

    **Useless Armors**
Why take all the other armors when they don't work with Granite? Gift of the Ancients and Luck of the Gambler and other Global benefits ^_^

Thank you for looking and I appreciate any advice. this is my favorite toon so far, but I know that if i could just fix the Damage output he'd be "perfect" in my opinion. I'm hoping that I can up his damage without sacrificing his defense. Should I Frankenslot the damage dealing moves? Purple them out? Or just face the fact that I'm not a Scrapper and that Stoners suck at damage and give up hope?
  24. I've only been playing for 2 months, almost 3, so be gentle with me. I'm currently using the Cardiac Alpha slot and am 1 notice of the well away from getting my Tier 4. Going to get the one with the 45% end redux.

So this is my Main, Charcoal Titan. He's a beast. The main problem I am running into him is he can't do damage...at all. I know being a Tanker I have to accept the fact I am not a Scrapper, but his damage output is horrible over all. Defense wise, he's a Mountain and one one does damage to him except for his gaping Psi weakness, which with Rooted and his super regen usually doesn't bother me, but some of the Av's can flatten me (Countess Crey, Vanessa). Only other AV I've had trouble with is Recluse, but once the Red tower goes down, he's mine ^_^.

So I'm posting today to have everyone take a look and give me advice. This is my first Tank and my First 50. I love him, but I'm just wondering, is there anyway to get through granites draw backs to do decent damage where I can Psuedo farm with him?
