PVP Io's

Hey everyone, new to PVP so be easy on me. My super group and I have been doing PVP for a couple of months now casually just as something to do to relax and have a good time outside the normal PVE game. Now I know that the drop rates for PVP Io's are extremely low, I've heard anyone where from 1:80 being hopeful, 1:200 being worse. Here's my question, I'm currently at 254 Rep, not a single PVP Io drop. We're not doing this for drops, we were just doing it for fun so that we could have a death match style game just to goof off and have fun, but none of us have seen any IO's in the SG and I'm the one with the highest rep right now.

We're playing in Warburg because everyone in my SG only have their high level characters blueside. My main question is, does hero vs hero get rid of the PVP io drops? Does Warburg have a diminished rate or no drop rate compared to other zones? I really want to start playing PVP in RV but the server I play on is dead half the time and I don't have billions of inf to invest on Pancea and Shield wall sets lol. Could someone tell me if I'm doing something wrong?

The tested drop rate (as of I15-I16) was somewhere between 1 in 70 and 1 in 80 rep-valid kills - in other words, you're only going to get a chance at a drop if you get rep off your target, which means once every five minutes at most for a given target. It's a ****** system, but them's the breaks.

drop rate is somthing like 1:70ish REP WORTHY kills. and there is a 5 minute timer inbetween rep worthy kills.

hero vs hero doesn't do anything to the drop rate.

but it also should be noted that is an extremely common misconception amongst carebears that pvp builds are just loaded with pvp IOs which isn't true at all.

most pvp builds don't use any pvp IOs or very few. you don't need to invest billions in pvp ios to have a decent pvp build. its entirely more dependent on your powersets than the build due to i13

well see thats the problem, I'm getting 100 Rep Valid kills back to back in a 6-8 hour time span even with the 5 minute delay. I should have seen a PVP Io by now I would have thought. I know the debs have made PVP a pain to play for those who really enjoy it, but I just can't believe the drops are that ridiculous too. I'll just keep playing and see how long it takes me to actually get one

The drops really are that rediculous. I have gotten 1 pvp IO drop since i stopped farming for them in BB back when they first came out... and I PvP roughly 6-10 hours a week.

I have a Stone/Fire tanker right now that I play when I play against my friends so I usually win by war of attrition, not a serious PVP toon. I was hoping to start getting some good PVP sets by doing this (Shield wall and Panacea are the ones I want the most), which I know I don't NEED them, but the bonuses are so nice in both PVE and PVP it makes me want them, but 30+ Hero merits is a pain and paying a billion to 2 for each enhancement is just crazy. I really don't want to PVP afk farm because I've heard how much people hate it and how toons get ganked and reported for doing it (which the ganking part is totally acceptable, it's a PVP zone, you're there to fight other people, you don't expect to get hurt?), but its looking like it might be the only viable option.

I know this is the big let down in PVP along with the lack of support for the game mechanics itself and it just makes me wonder why the dev's don't step in and do something. Granted I've only been playing for 3 months now so I'm sure alot will change in my time being here and I also play on Justice, which PVP is dead on there, but when it comes to risk vs reward, this is just crazy. You take maximum risk for a small hope of a decent reward. Ah well, like I said, I'm just doing it on the weekends to break up the PVE play, just can't believe I haven't scored one yet. Thanks for the feedback, just wanted to make sure I wasn't screwing up somehow lol

well i mean, you don't need pana's or shield walls on a stone for pvp. in fact you'd probalby be better off slotting something other than pana's and 4 of the 6 shield walls (atleast since the last time i looked) only get up to a few hundered mil for the top ones (the trip and def/end) but again, you could slot lotgs or something and not notice a significant different.

i mean as a tank, especially something as immobile as stone, your at your most effective when you're taunting and webnading everything that moves and you dont need those top tier sets to accomplish that.

as for pve, yea those sets are good, but with the current market being as inflated as it is, they really aren't worth the price for the overall increase that you'd see from something you could get more easily (shield walls vs. lotgs, pana's vs numina's or doc wounds). the only place were'd you see a sig increase would be when you ex.

Zomg! Where were you when I was defending my stance on pvp io and afk farming being the only viable option atm. Retarded right?

If you want to encourage PvP - you make all level 50 PvP IO's COMMON drops.

They should drop in NORMAL play.

Also returning the game back to where your powers actually work like they do the rest of the game would be good.
