  1. How do Ninja/FF work out during the higher levels? I got one at level 22 right now that I'm enjoying and it's pretty cool, the ninjas are very survivable with all the DEF i provide for them but reading the comments here on the board I'm a bit concerned I might get dissapointed in it later on?
  2. Though I'm a straight female.. I'll throw in another vote for Mirror Spirit I've always thought she is very pretty.
  3. I love it!

I have a female ninja/ff mastermind that is going to love these costume pieces
  4. Yea, Vines seem like the logical place to put it.

    Thanks all
  5. Hey all, I have a plant/storm controller and I'm curious to where other plant 'trollers have put their AT io set?

I'm thinking maybe seeds of confusion? But I wanted to check with you guys first
  6. I would like to warmly recomend fire/dark as well.

I recently started one and it's just around level 30 so I'm certanly no expert but so far it's been insanely powerful, some points that have made me fall in love with the combo.

You get seriously awesome core powers very early, such as Tar Patch, Darkest Night and your fire AoEs as well as a complete single target chain. This means you will always kick butt, even if sometimes late in your career you decide to do a Posi 1.

It's highly aggressive support, you are awesome support for the team, but you mainly do it in the form of powerful debuffs that you'd also do if you were solo so I think it will really fit your playing style!

It's an awesome soloer, high damage all around, a powerful heal and massive debuffs.

If you like hover blasting it's perfect for it! I like putting wings on my characters so it's yay for me
  7. Thanks all, I've started up a Km/nin to check it out!

I also can't quite shake the thematic lure of Ninja Blade, I'm pretty set on Kinetic Melee but I'd still like to ask how Ninja Blade compares to the rest of them?
  8. Thanks guys

My eyes have fallen on Kinetic Melee, from what you say and what I can see it seems pretty awesome, and what's more I like how it looks and the concept fits well with ninjutsu too (though I'm pondering maybe taking Energy Aura instead?)

I'm also pleased that the stalker version does not have that AoE Knockback power Kinetic Melee usually comes with.
  9. Hey all

I'm a long time player of primarily ranged and support characters and I have seriously never touched the stalker AT. Lately I've been feeling the need for some change though and my eyes have fallen on the stalker for a very different experience

Ninjutsu seems very interesting and unique to me so I'd really like to try that out, but what about the primaries? Thematicly I'm drawn to Ninja Blade or Martial Arts but while I enjoy things for concept, I also prefer to play things that work well in-game.

Could anybody give me a quick rundown on the primaries, what ones work well, what ones to avoid and such? It'd be greatly appriciated!
  10. Thugs

Don't get me wrong though, thugs seem -awesome- and a lot of fun but..

I can't stand the concept, I've tried it because they seem like a great set by no matter how I try it I just can't find them cool to run around with.
  11. I normally have a preference for guys, but I'd be willing to try..
  12. Plant controll!

I seriously can't grow bored of it now matter how many different characters i make that use it, it's so versatile, it has awesome powers and it looks as good as it works.

I personally don't like kin playstyle but it is a great set and I always love to see someone else playing it that is enjoying themselves.
Hehe, yea, for some reason I thing for making other people awesome.. I can't really explain it, it's just the way I am.
  14. Thanks for more replies!

Wow, this is not easy, so far I have a level 26 kin/sonic and a level 20 kin/ice and I have a hard time deciding between the two due to the discussion in this thread But now I'm pondering earth/kin as well.. hmm..

Other then that I love kinetics so far at these lower levels. My gameplay style is to gather up my own team and go do a story arc or TF, pretty much never solo and it's so far kinetics seem very good for that kind of playing. I greatly enjoyed my role in the Positron and Synapse TFs.

Kinetics is a very 'active' set. That means you're ultimately going to spend an enormous amount of time doing Kinetics powers... and have very little time for any other powers.

What that means is that as you level, you'll be laying in those -resistance debuffs for Sonic less and less. Moreover, the generally poor damage/animation of the set will become more and more of a problem because you have so little animation time to use in the first place.

Then you'll run across a Kinetics/Radiation and he'll explain about Achilles' Heel. Finally, you'll run across a Kinetics/Electric, Kinetics/Fire or Kinetics/Ice and you'll just feel sad at how they're converting the very limited nuking time available into useful damage - while being significantly better solo and in the run-up to an AV.

Ultimately, you'll probably do what most of the folks I've seen who've tried Kinetics/Sonic do once they realize just how little time they have to nuke in a serious do: hang up the character and try again.

In terms of Controller options, you have slightly different issues. First of all, Confuse is actually a pretty good damage ability... that isn't buffed by Kinetics. That's why you're far more likely to see Illusion/Radiation or Plant/Storm than you are to see them paired with Kinetics. Second of all, when you first engage a spawn you'll be torn whether to be a Controller (and control the spawn) or a Kinetics (and Fulcrum Shift it).

These issues tend to affect Controllers in various degrees, but probably Fire the least. It doesn't have a Confuse and it does have Smoke (which provides something of an answer to the "how do I start the fight with the spawn?" answer).
Thanks for the information! What do you think about Kinetics/ice instead?

The character is level 26 now so I'm not sure I'll be rerolling, but I will give it some thought.
  16. Thanks for even more replies!

I ended up making a kinetics/sonic defender and while it's still of course very low level, I am very pleased. Just lead a Positron 1 with it at level 13 and it went super fast and smooth, even at that level I had speed boost, power siphon and the heal as well as two single target and an AoE cone sonic attack with -20 res.

It will be very interesting to see how this character develops! Thanks for your help all

Might be fun to be able to buff up that neat pet they get too.
  18. Spines/Fire Brute would be pretty crazy
  19. Hi all.

I'm feeling the urge to play a kinetics (the support/buff set) as I've never really done so. As a player I have a team support mentality and usually form my own team to play with, so I have a feeling I would greatly enjoy it.

And I'd like some recomendations on what kind of character to make it on

The two top contenders I have myself is a kinetics/sonic defender, and a plant/kin controller. If anybody has experience playing either of those two (I'm especially interested in hearing about plant/kin controllers) that would be awesome.

Other recomendations are cool too, I'm very open about it right now.

Main goal with the character is the ability to gather up a ragtag band of random people and go take on whatever the game can throw at us!
  20. Hey all, I have a quick question.

If I'm playing a plant/thorn, does the redraw with thorn create an actual delay to the attacks? I'm getting conflicting answers when asking in game, some swear there's no delay and it's all in my head, others say there's a DPS lowering delay with the redraw.

What's the truth? I figure this is the place for a good answer.
  21. Plant Control, I love it so much and whenever I try to play a controller or dominator with anything else I can't shake the feeling that I'm missing out, Plant Control is just so versatile and awesome.

I also have a soft spot for Kinetics, the most powerful support/buff set in my opinion.
  22. Probobly Empathy

Somehow I don't like the single target buffs, when playing it I could not shake the feeling that I could just play a kinetics character and easily buff the entire team to new levels of awesomeness instead of spending time and energy trying to keep Fortitude up on as many people as possible, bleh.
  23. If it means I get the option to switch or turn off the huge cloud covering my legs with Shadow Shroud I'm all for it!

I love Dark Miasma, but I really hate that cloud as it covers up too much and you can't really fix it by messing with it's colors too.

  25. Hi all, I'm wondering if anybody has a good fortunata build to share with me? I've searched the SoA forum and there's a few posted, but often the threads are very short and contain very little discussion so I feel a bit unsure.

Recently I've been feeling interested in trying a VEAT and the fortunata appeals to me the most. My goal with the character is all around gameplay, I tend to do a little bit of each.

I have a preference for ranged/hoverblaster style gameplay, but if mixing in a bit of melee is effective that's cool too. I can imagine the follow up/spin combo would be nice to put in for example.
