You can earn a total of 4 respecs I think, 3 from various respec task force, 1 at 24, 1 at 34 and 1 at 44, plus when you complete your patron arc and recieve your patron accolade you get one then.
This, apart from freespecs handed out at major issues is it. -
What exactly are you agreeing to m8, that you never want to fight anything harder than a Lt, or the fact that you want to explore every inch of the game with every alt till you've seen it all and get so bored the next time you don't bother, or choose a differant route the next time. Differant contacts, explore the game universe differantly, discover something new..............
Or do you want to be secure in the knowledge that you can take on 2-3 white minions and the odd yellow lt, but know where all the mission arcs go and tell people about how the games missions work above everyone else.
I've being playing nearly a year, and disagree a lot about what MaX has said on certain parts of this forum, and we've probably had a chuckle or too along the way.
I don't agree that DPS is the king in the game either, its a mix of damage and survivability that do the job, doesn't matter if you can dish out loads, if you have no mittigation, wethers its debuffs, buffs armour, holds etc, you can still generally only take down 1 enemy ata a time, and the aoe's whilst good, especially in groups and having therefore a high dps spread it out, thus leaving plenty of incoming. Bit long winded but get my point.
Content is content, the game is supposed to be replayable, and you can choose a differant path each time, we'll as soon as you're out of Port Oakes that is..........Bloomin Radio, sick of him lol.
Agree with MaX if you want, but playing inside your capabilities is a shame, makes the game too easy, and thus not challenging. Treat it a bit like real life and push your characters boundries, see if you can take on that extra bit. If you can all the better if not well a bit of debt gets you closer to the deatless badge you need for High Pain Threshold anyway.
Content you miss with one alt won't disappear, you can explore a differant path next time and enjoy it for the first time. -

Besides most of us altoholics do get to see just about all of the content with a variety of alts, so a moot point really.
[/ QUOTE ]Yeah, but the point is seeing all the content with every alt
[/ QUOTE ]
But is that actually possible...........Don't quite think it is really, even on villanous, and most certainly not on CoH even on heroic, just too much content out there really.
Or in otherwords MaX...........Tell us how.As you can't do all the patron arcs with every alt for a start, and if you team any your're going to outlevel a lot of cantacts. -

1) This a basic rule for all Brutes: Put 2 acc enhancements in all your attacks, even if you don't PvP. This way you'll be able to play on Relentless and hit most of your attacks.
[/ QUOTE ]Yeah, play on relentless so you miss as much content as possible!
<_<

Hehe people forget that you only play on malicious at the Max MaX, but some people want a bit more of a challenge lol.

Take punch instead of jab, boxing can be your first tie power effectively when you've got it.
Stamina, powersink AND conserve power may be a bit overkill on the end stakes there. Take conserve power and respec it out at 41 with your patron respec possibly.
Not sure if the Acc and Holds in Powers surge are required, for a situational power you may find the slots some better use elseware, like having 2 ACC, 2 End Disc and 2 Recharges in as many of your attack powers as possible, and your Dmg in Lightening field may be better off being another end disc.
Oh, and when you do get to Grandville have fun looking for elevators and doors as SS is a nightmare there, as on any off the CoV maps.
Above all experiment and have fun -
Carry a few blues so u can pop 1 after overload, then energy drain, bring on your powers and away u go. Would work well in a team with another brute with taunt who would nicely taunt on demand, ie when your about to crash, thus giving you time to do this lol.
-
But having Barrage, Energy Punch, Bone Smasher, Energy Transfer and Total Focus is my personal goal, works nicely on my brute, and after i've done the opening AS, gives me something to do without waiting for other powers to be come available to use, as the biggies even with hasten seem to have an unbearable recharge rate, or thats how it feels sometimes lol.
-
I know my infos from a claw/regen, but you may want to get focus earlier, since lvl 18 its being a bread and butter attack of mine, doing far more damage than the rest, and combined with follow up it does even more.
I took the 2nd and 3rd powers in claws first, then follow up next then focus and evicerate. With hasten its a cool combo. But then again, I have the end to use it. I had spin, but respec'd it out, but may takeit again in the 40's. -
I myself took barrage, as it fits in nicely as a filler in the attack chain, and seems to disorient more than it's fighures would suggest, plus gives me 5 attacks in my chain for scrapper moments.
-
Hehe your right, but if you strike from hidden with Energy Transfer you don't take any self damage from the attack, just nice for tat being pursued and just hidden moment, and it still whacks one hell of a punch, and total focus only lands the same crit as the smashing part of your attack as energy. A bonus I think, as I see them.
Both of them are extreme damage attacks that have a high chance to disorient, which is even better than a crit in a lot of circumstances, as it means no incoming damage from the unfortunate boss your pummeling -
I have a lvl 31 Claw/Regen, and would just like to say that hasten is a great power to take for claws and regeneration. More Attacks going off, more heals available, and having QR and Stamina the end to use it.
Look at it another way............
Using 2 enhancement slots in hasten for recharge
OR
Slotting all of your 5 or 6 attacks with 2 recharges thus taking up 10-12 enhancement slots.
Could you really not find a better use for these slots ie damage and accuracy.
Have fun. -
I have lvl'd a stone brute to 50, and my stone tank's 24 so far, from what I can tell is that you will nee the following:-
Stone Skin 3slotted with Res, but not till later on, as you can respec this in at lvl 32
In the beginning your a def tank, work to this
Earths Embrace, mud pots, rooted and rock armour are your friends before lvl 32.
Take taunt as early as possiblt, ie lvl 10, other player remember you ahve it and invite you more.
Just a few observations.
Have fun -
Peronal point of view, and for a staminaless build i took energy aura, great 16.5% base s/l (thats 25,74% with 3 even SO's) def defence plus the 1,8% def from hide, and if your taking jump another 3% def for free
.
Energy Drain and conserve power is nice also, only got to 28 so far, but energy drain does make a hell of a differance.
Taking all attacks in your build you can slot for either pvp ie stealth and grant invis or pve aid other or stim and aid self, personal preferance really, you don't need fitness pool, and can scrap n teams as well, as you can carry more purps and greens in later stages of game ie after lvl 28.
Works for me, maybe not for you.
Above all have fun. -

The only way to tank in CoV is to kill things....quickly.
Brutes don't play well as a tank, in fact they play more like a scrapper....get out of the mindset that you can sit there and take punishment, Brutes don't work like that
Inv as a secondary will be great until you come across CoT and Carnies etc, at that point you'll use Dull Pain and aid self as mitigation against them and possibly a few green inspirations.
[/ QUOTE ]
Sorry to say but we do have a brute tank variety, its called Stone Armour, and if they take tough they can tank just as well as there tanker counterparts if not better due to their higher damage output. -
Run with it, you've got to 43 so far, not that far to go. your damage output should be quite high, as with sould drain poping off every so often you should be doing loadsa damage. Two self heals will be assisting you greatly and if you've taken boxing and tough you're res vrs s/l should be ok.
Above all have fun, not a common build, so go for it -
Hammerok, Stone Melee/Stone Armour/Mace Mastery, available @Battler for tanking requirements as called
-
Hehe...
Currently playing another Brute Star Furie whos lvl 31 now, and Dunker and myself have got a nice Corr duo on the go that rock with dot Dark Miasma Goodness, which are lvl 13 now, so look out for Darkspite and Twisted Dragon
My Globals @Battler if you need to get in touch -
Yes he did, I was there, having dinged 50 myself 2 missions before with Hammerok.
I think his exact word were "Not like this!!!"
I think he wanted to do it as we finished off a pesky Vindicator, not some lowly mob of Longbows
A BIG Gratz again mate, was nice teaming with you a various time in the 40-50 range. -
Just a thought......
Your not taking two aoe damage powers that can be effected by rage, one which has a immob component, and one that reduces the mobs to hit for 10 secs, so increases your primary defence.
Also the other people are correct in informing you the passives are nigh on useless, nothing to stack them with, so wouldn't bother with them.
BRUTE RAGE POWERED AoE'S FTW -
As Cap'n said there are several ways to slot aid self, i'm trying the 1 interrupt,3 heal, 2 recharge first.
-
Exactly what I meant, if you have spare slots slot it with 1 end red and 3 def, until they're spare ie attacks and utilities like hasten, end drain, aid self and attacks are slotted I wouldn't bother either.
-
Hate to be the one who breaks this to people but Energy Cloak only has 3.75% Def, take it and put an end red in it, and run it all the time, but if your build is tight the extra slots should really be used elseware in your build for doing nice things like DAMAGE etc lol.
I have a lvl 29 EM/EA brute, and can say the Cloak does increase your survivability, especially solo, mainly due to the fact that the enemy standing next to the guy your pummeling still doesn't see you lol, but Energy Drain when you get it means your virtually self sufficient in end, pack green insp, get aid self, get out there and use those slots elsware rather than get 2% extra defence, get the extra heal from aid self, it'll help you survive longer -

i ave a lvl 50 stone tank in coh called warlord elfling so i love tankin, can some1 plz tell me which defence in cov for brute is best ( not stone cos ive been there dne that haha ) thank u for help

Hate to tell you this, but if you wanted to be a tank, the only secondary that will give you the real feel of being a tank IS Stone, and you won't really feel like that till lvl 38.
If your in a team with other brutes you can cycle the apha taking tank mode, sharing the duties, but don't expect to be able to do the same alpha taking as a tank all the time.
On a plus point though you dont need as much health as a tank in a fight because your enemies fall before you that much quicker -

Stalkers don't have the HP or Defense to do it for long periods.

EA has a high def base, around 16.5% add 3 SO's = 25.74% Def
then hide gives it another 1.8%
Combat Jumping with 1 SO in gives it another 3%
Thats 30.54% in total, not to shabby Really in PvE. Nearly up there with an Ice Tank without Energy Absorption lol.
Add in a few team buffs and your away lol
