If this means fox tails I'll SQUEEL!
Oh what the hell, I'll squeel anyway.
*SQUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE LLLLLLLLLL* -
Quote:OR...more realistically...most of the players aren't RPers at all!I love it when people still bring this up, when they already tried this in the Alpha and it turned out to be a terrible idea for reasons already posted.
Especially since not a lot of people realise that City of Heroes was originally meant to basically be a Champions MMO with the serial numbers filed off. Champions Online is actually closer to Jack Emmert's original vision... and others have said plenty about that.
This game is already easy and has incredible character freedom compared to most other MMOs on the market. It doesn't need to be broken.
And just to drive a nail into the coffin of 'it's just for RP reasons', I'll use one hated example: the Mission Architect. An RPers wet dream, and what was it first used for? Farming and exploiting on an unprecedented scale, and it had to be violently and repeatedly nerfed to stamp it out. Even RP freaks will succumb to exploiting if it's easy enough.
I mean really. When I was on Victory the first 2 1/2 years of playing CoH, I met one RPer. ONE! And his idea of RP was "we are couple now" o.O Ummm...nooo. :P
Even on the unofficial RP server, Virtue, there's alot of non RPers.
Lets just add into the fact, being a RPer, doesn't mean one won't min/max.
Or the RPers, who make a min/max build and RP around that as the concept (build first, concept later).
All this is to say, not every RPer would be wanting this to min/max. :P -

Quote:Stalkers can't crit on slept and held enemies anymore. We can work around that little detail. Stealth, +Stealth IOs, Placate proc, etc. It's better than having to chain ourselves to teams or go to Bloody Bay frequently to get a Shivan so we can get any use at all out of Vigilance.
We will also be very pleased with the ability to crit Held and Slept critters, since we have so many of those at our disposal.
So we have a deal, then? *slowly rubs hands together, used car salesman style*
Now they just crit on anyone, and get a bigger crit chance on targets, the more teammates in range. -
Never thought they were clipping myself. Though I didn't know why they were like that. Nice to know there's a style of shorts like that however.

I disagree.
Blasters need more Epics!
A Psi Epic!
Indomitable Will
Psychic Shield
Resurgence
Debuff Power
Some mez power
Good to go!

...how are they stacking up in Zone, Arena, Duels?
Been working on one, wondering if I should actually build a PvP build, or just go in with the "eh, lost either way, just keep this build for the fun of it"approach. -

Quote:Those who I teamed with.../Mental, /EM was considered good. /DEV they all thought it was lacking (this is just people I've teamed with in beta's opinions...so other can and will disagree).Has anyone that's beta-tested it got any opinions on pairings? It seems like MM would make a good Secondary for a Blaster...
I enjoyed /Mental.
Agreed on the secondaries with a build up being good. -
While the fact that someone farms or PLs shouldn't effect the other playersinthe community.
The devs of course have a reason to stop it.
That said, at the same time, the farms/PL that gets curtailed by the devs, shouldn't be ******* and whined about, by those who do the farms/PLing. :P But they do. Look at AE. Devs stopped it, and whoa was their alot of ******** and whining. -
The problem with redside, in my experience, is most players who aren't focused on merits, would rather play the hero (even if it's a anti hero type) than a villain.
Add to the fact, that redside arcs, really don't make one feel like a master of ones fate, and more like a pawn under another. Darrien Wade's arc for instance.
At least from the so far 3 50's redside I have, this has been how I felt with my redsiders.
Then add in those who don't even care about the story lines, and just want the goods, so they play blueside.
The only thing I felt redside had going for it, is less zones, but then people keep complaining about that too. :P -
Quote:Yeah, if they only choose missions of their own, instead of spreading the missions around between the various members of the team.Team leaders already get merits that nobody else does. That's encouragement enough to drive. Adding additional bonuses will only make people fight over who the leader is.
That said, being the mission leader does give one closer to the Advisor badges
And now when you can SK the whole team, even faster!

Or better yet! Make new Epic ATsthat have to be unlocked using those same TFs.
Moonfire = Nictus
Renault = Coralax
YAY! Always wanted some new epic ATs! -
Quote:Not to mention, my /WP is running Tough/Weave/Manuevars/Ninja Run on top of all the WP toggles.I can see needing all three of those powers on a WP because WP has substantially higher toggle costs. For a */Regen, however, you only really need 2 end assistance powers (generally QR and Phys Perf in my builds) because the end costs are substantially lower.
Yes, I said Ninja Run!
Nothing funner than flipping about as I hit things

Quote:The justification for playing them is...do you find them fun to play?I tend to shy away from FotM sets. That means my SS/WP, Arch/MM, and Fire/Kin sit on a shelf getting dusty because I don't want to seem like another one of those people that just made the sets because they're so popular. I stumbled upon the combos independently of the popularity, but still can't justify playing them.

Just because it's a FoTM doesn't mean one shouldn't play it. Some sets will always just be popular. SS/WP for instance is just going to be popular. :P -
What might help get a more free form feel is just a new AT.
Assault/Defense AT with Epics that have One Buff (like AM, or Thermal Shields wrapped in one power but with a smaller number)/AOE or ST Debuff (not as good as Corrs/MMs/Defs/Trollers, but alot better than the Scrappers/Tanks/Blasters get for numbers in the epics)/ST Hold/ST Immobilze/and a Pet. -
Let me tell you...as a DB/WP with QR, Stamina, Physical Perfection, Miracle Unique, Numina Unique, and 3 Performance Shifter +END Procs, I find I never run out of END!

Just the other day was running an AE Story mission, getting drained in 1 or 2 hits (high accuracy mobs, who could drain END better than a sapper), and as soon as I was drained, toggles dropped, my END was back to the 1/4 mark.
It was so fun

Go Elec/Elec! If that's what's calling you. Go for it!
All you need to know for an Elec/Elec you can learn right here on the boards. Like don't skip the mez protection!
Is Elec Melee short on ST damage? Well, when you have multiple choices, people are going to make lists, and something on that list has to be at the bottom.
That said, it's not the bottom bottom of the list. And it's a fun set!
Now with just SO's. Yes, you're going to feel squishier than some other defense sets, but *shrug*
See if you like it, and if you do, worry about IOs then

Quote:This is true only if , when you team, you aren't the type to...Because I have a 50 /WP brute? Because I enjoy a set with high passive health regen? Because I enjoy a set with Quick Recovery? Because I enjoy a set with a handy early self heal? Because I can respec/use my second set for a build more suited to high impact play after I'm finished leveling?
There's more to /regen than Dull pain.
1) Complain about constantly being faceplanted and wondering why it's happening.
2) Leave the team in a lurch, because you can't handle the debt.
-
I've been happy with Attack Vitals for sure, and then ona case by case bias to add in Sweep. Other than, the other two are worth skipping imo.

Quote:Wasn't even thinking solo, with the lack of -regen.Storm has no -regen (easily the biggest factor when fighting AV's/GM's) I can't see a storm defender putting out the dps, even paired with sonic to be able to solo any real AV's GM's without outside assistance.
On a team, just freezing rain, lightning tornado and blast away, hurricane them in to a corner if a corner is available.
Just wondering how others have seen Storms in action. IE...the stormie with a group of tankers/scrappers/kheldian/blasters (ie...no other troller or defender), with a no optimal DPS attack string (barring one or two members).
How does that team fair against AVs and GMs? Am I just teaming with the wrong Stormies, or should a Stormie beable to handle such a situation fine?
With Dark Miasma, Thermal, Radiation, and Cold Domination, I have found these sets can be the only debuff/buff set on the team, and the team can usually handle whatever difficulty (usually). Stormie, with it's debuffs, I have not seen this to be the case. -
How does the set handle for taking on GMs and AVs?
Now, I've never found a Stormie to be the way to go on a full team, as the only buffer/debuffer...but maybe, I've just teamed with the wrong ones (it really doesn't seem like a popular set) so,maybe they just weren't using it, to the best of it's abilities?
I know on my first Dark Miasma/ I didn't know about HT's massive regen debuff, so I was missing out on a major part of Dark Miasma, when on teams, when up against targets that would need that debuff.
Seeing as how Storm doesn't appear to have any -regen, and it's -resist is 35%, how is it when going up against such targets?
