This, I'd like to keep close to the set bonuses the other purples have, which doesn't vary much outside of I think the Range Damage Purple Set, and the 6th slot (which except for the Confuse set, I find a waste to slot for )
  2. Or, why not keep TarPatch, but put it as a PBAOE (like Ice Patch). Maybe add a few component like burn, so they're running slowly out of it.

This is good for merits. But running a lvl 50 ITF, also gives the chance for a purple recipe to drop into your lap

Assaults beat supports on offence, supports beat assaults on defence, spec-ops beat both through other means, but not directly. Thing is, City of Heroes and, really, any RPG with enough variety to count, is more like rock, paper, scissors, water, saw, vice, pliers, fire, cloud, plasma torch and machinegun. There are too many advantages, too many disadvantages and too many combinations that leave gaping holes in both offence and defence. You're going to end up with idea team compositions, and that just loops the problem all around.

Balanced, fair PvP requires a certain amount of simplicity that can allow for player interaction to be predictable and accountable for. In PvE, player-NPC interaction is easily predictable because you always know what the NPCs bring to bear, so you can design the difficulty of the encounter around that. But in PvP, you can't design every set or every team composition to be decent against every other one. And while some may find this acceptable, being killed with a massive handicap IS NOT FUN for me.

Back to Battlefield, I realise that, having picked the Assault kit, I'm not going to do much against a tank. It's balanced... But it's not fun at the same time. I can hide from it for a LONG time, but what the hell would that accomplish? Eventually I get bored, rush the thing, get instakilled and respawn as an engineer. I can't quite respawn my Blaster as a Scrapper, though.

Certain people enjoy lopsided, unfair, unbalanced PvP because of the unpredictability it presents. But this is both NOT like the PvP game and NOT everyone's cup of tea. And being of the position I am, I'm more inclined to side with people who share my preference.
I found the old PvP to be alot more like PvE.

Tanks were tough. Squishies were squishie. Before they went into DR, they should of gone through some smaller changes first.

For example, the non damage toggles not getting detoggled. A perfect time to see how that changed PvP before alot of the other changes they added in.

But, I think that the old CoH PvP was very easily balancable around teaming...people just refused to do that.
You know I can see this.

Now, I don't know how it really was. But from my own experience, most people just wanted to one on one, with occaissional team vs team.

But even on teams, you tended to want to have certain things or you lost to begin with.
  6. While I'm not the hardcore PvPer like others on the forum, I do PvP.

Just last night I logged into the game to have my toon drop a mission. She was parked in RV, so before I went to drop the mission, I decided to see if anyone was out...ended up staying in zone for and hour or two.

My only complaint about PvP, is that when you go to the effort to make a toon (any toon) kick butt in PvE, it's wasted in the PvP zone.

Now, this in and of itself may not be a bad thing. We have two builds. You can build for one PvE on one build and PvP on the other. Right?

    No! You can't!

Some sets just suck that much in PvP.

Now mind you, I still PvP with concept built toons. I go around using ninja run as a main travel power on my corr. But I find this to be the reason I think PvP needs changed. To go from OMG to crash and burn is going to get on people nerves. And that's just from PvE to PvP.

Sucks more when it's issue to issue changes. :/ My WP/EM tanker used to feel great, not so much anymore.

At the rate you're earning (only accounting for the time you actually spend making the enhancements and posting them) you'd be far far better off spending your time doing task forces for merits (and inf) and then spending the merits on Miracle +Recovery IOs and selling them for around 200 million a shot.

What you're doing is a relative waste of your time. You'll find players will pay 400,000 and even if you aren't the only one selling at that price you'll still be getting a much better return on your investment of time.

PS. If your intention is to undercut everyone else trying to make a reasonable profit, to drive us out of the market so you can then raise your prices and still have the whole market then you can forget it, because I'm not going anywhere (and I very much doubt I'm the only one). I'm going to keep checking the prices in Wentworth, forcing you to grind away your time as that's the only way you're going to keep me from making a reasonable profit from my time. You want to work at this like it's a real job? Be my guest. It's your time to waste. When I'm not checking the market I'll be the one doing TFs and making your rate of return look pathetic.
Hmmm...I've been specifically selling underpriced underpriced recipes merely for the badge.

    Usually I'll be like this...

"Oh I see at least 21 people want this generic IO recipe!"

*hop over to university and buy said recipes*

*return to WW and sell for 10 influence a pop*

*get a nice chunk out of my sold so many items badge*

I also do this with the generic lvl 50 recipes I get off missions/TFs/what have you, and put them on the market for 10 influence a pop, just to sell them quickly and get even more notches on the badge

And personally, I would think people would want people selling items for less. Why would you be saying you want people to sell things for MORE?

There is a big difference between "give Scrappers this pre-existing melee set" and "give Scrappers this new ranged set". Huge difference. You might as well ask that Scrappers start getting Defender primaries proliferated over to their secondaries. Melee sets are not the same as ranged sets. I really hope I don't need to get into the whole "tankmages bad" thing with you here.
Actually, my idea was to just give it to Stalkers. The lack of build up, would depower it as a primary for them. And seeing as how they have less of a HP cap than Widows/Soldiers who can be Ranged/Defense easily, I don't see how it would be overpowered for them.

I'm perfectly willing to say no to Scrappers/Brutes/Tankers getting it.

Add in Stalkers do less DPS than Scrappers/Brutes I would think would also mean it isn't OPed for them.

Ans since they didn't get Shield Defense, it's a boon for them

[Edit: Though I think the point can still stand...I can see a scrapper using dual pistols just fine. But with GR coming...I'm more than willing for just Stalkers and side switching/starting in praetoria]

And as Umbral said, "Katana Blast and Broadsword Control". It doesn't make sense! WHY do people think that DP should/was going to be for scrappers, brutes, tanks and stalks?

So you watched a movie that they fight with guns, in melee range. Lets have Grey Surfer Melee, or Rubber Melee while we are at it.
Because people have been asking it forever? Geez. What's so hard to grasp about that, even if you don't want it.

What's more suprising, is that the same people who say no to Dual Pistols for Scrappers, are the same ones who say "Give Scrappers this set" as it doesn't matter if it doesn't fit some people's idea of a scrapper, because it fits mine.

That said, I think I gave a good way to give it to Stalkers and have it make sense. After all, you stalk them, you kill them.

[Edit: And makes up for not getting Shields! It works out for everyone!]

I think it would fit pretty perfectly (kind of like spines) it wouldnt have the 90 yard range least i dont think, but even at 40 yrds i could love it. i would say it should have spines range for its moves such as piercing rounds. I'm a scrapper at heart so playing a blaster is a bit tough for me but if at all possible, i'm requesting that DP head over to scrappers for sure, and maybe brutes.
You know...I understand why they don't give it to Scrappers/Brutes/Tankers.

But I've done some thinking on it, and I think it could do well for Stalkers.

    Why?

We already have 2 ranged fighters ATs, with Self Defense style sets. Widows/Soldiers. I wouldn't consider them OPed at all, having played both to 50.

Now while I'm not sure if Stalkers have a higher damage mod than Widows/Soldiers, I do know they have a lower HP cap.

Put in the fact that Stalkers can't have shields, why not give them Dual Pistols instead?

    1) Pistols

    2) Dual Wield

    3) Empty Clips

    4) Executioners Shot (Lower the Range to 7-10ft this animation just became Assassin Strike of the Stalker version)

    5) Swap Ammo (Yup, just like the Blaster/Corruptor/Defender version, this set lacks a Build Up)

    6) Placate (This replaces Bullet Rain)

    7) Suppressive Fire

    8) Piercing Rounds (I'd say turn this into a Single Target attack in regards to damage/rech/end cost, but with an even narrower cone)

    9) Bullet Rain (I'd even suggest lowering the damage of this attack, with a corresponding lowering of it's recharge to 1 minute timer. Possibly just a little better than Lightning Rod? Maybe on par with Lightning Rod? Testing would have to be done, but I'm thinking you wouldn't want it as high as it is now...not sure on this however).

Now...seeing as how Widows/Soldiers can still do all they can do from range, I don't see why this set couldn't work. However, if it's still a range issue...

    1) Cut to 40ft

    2) Cut to 40ft

    3) Cut to 20ft

    4) Same range as all the other Assassin Strikes

    5) N/A

    6) Already has a range of 50ft for everyone else.

    7) Cut to 40ft

    8) Cut to 20ft, possibly even lower, as you could say they need to get closer for the shot to penetrate.

    9) PBAOE could easily lower how big the AOE is...though I'd probably go with 15ft at the smallest.

...seems more than fair at Stalkers lack of a shield.

Well, I don't know if I agree with that. Especially considering, I don't see that many Trollers taking Psi Mastery. Fire, Earth and Cold seem to be more prevelant. I fully admit however, I could be wrong since it's all based on my first hand views.

Otherwise, maybe a Thugs/Pain MM, DP/Pain corr or Empathy/DP (for the aura powers that'll give you self heals and regen) with fighting and leadership (also Psy Mastery for the defender)
The Wolf Spider and Night Widows are why I don't think what I want would be a tank mages. They're what I'm looking for, except with Dual Pistols.

I actually don't mind being knocked around, enough defense limits that to decently enough.

Though I hadn't thought about just saying RAD/ as being RPed as not really effecting anyone. Something to consider, since I have RAD/DP/PSI.

I was just looking at trying to keep the powers more limited to self in game wise too, to match what I was looking for concept wise.

Well, not going into background, as I don't think that's relevant...

But the concept power wise, is Dual Pistol using hero, who is genetically enhanced to be durable, able to keep going when others would be lying face down (this is the regen aspect...able to geep going with a hole in her chest, when others would fall face down), who's senses allow her to see in bullet time.

She's fast and agile, and while not bullet proof per se, is able to take a beating (S/L style damage), while being suseptible to elemental style forces (F/C/E/N), needing to rely on her reflexes to avoid such attacks, with a strong mind, that isn't easily manipulated (Psi).

Like that? Or do I need to give more of a background detail?
  22. ...so I've had a concept in mind for a toon I wanted to make since I picked up the CoH box over 5 years ago.

And now, we've come even closer to me being able to make it.

Using CoH terms, the toon would be akin to a Dual Pistols/WP (regen, able to take physical attacks, while having to dodge elemental style attacks, and having a strong enough psyche to resist psi attacks).

And even with /WP on scrappers, I have to get IOs into place to get the level of high dexterity I envision the concept with.

However, this isn't possible YET (I truely believe one day we will get the ability to make such a toon).

So the question is, how would you go about making this concept with the tools available?

I hate to wait for a psy epic for blaster, that I can only hope has Indomitable Will with it.

And for the individual MA powers, I just picked the ones that looked he coolest
Fly is classic, I don't know if I'd say super speed. At least to the effect that super speed is alot less common than fly is.

As for me...I pick the powers that fit the concept I'm going for.

For Primary/Secondary Power, it usually means concept and usefulness. Though luckily, if the power is useful, it tends to fit the concept.

That said, I've made more than one Radiation Emission concept, that didn't take mutation. Only once did someone complain to me. Which I replied, "I'm /RAD, you didn't invite me to my team for my rez." which they smiled agreed, and we proceeded to take down the AV!

This is also why I love Ninja Run. It's the best power for the feeling of the roof top runner/jumper. I used to use Super Jump for this, but it never felt right (but you make do with what you have)...now, Ninja Run makes it feel just right

I also like to take Fighting and Leadership on my toons, usually because I can see them having those abilities/training. The fact that the toggles don't drop anymore, means I can actually make use of them on non-melee toons now.

    Invulnerability/Axe Tank
    Natural Peacebringer

While I find the survivability of the Blaster AT to be just...sad (and probably why I prefere defenders/scrappers/corruptors over blasters)...I have found Dual Pistols to be a fun set.

With other blast sets I feel like I'm just repeating the same motion over and over...with Dual Pistols? No way!

What looks fun to me (and maybe worth trying out for you) is a DP/EM Blaster. Yeah, it's a popular combo to use with DP, but besides the obvious advantages of good power picks from /EM, I find it's a good pick because you can pick up even more of your Primary. That's it's biggest draw imo.
