The plan right now is to put off the S/L shield until level 12. I don't see it helping as much as Chilling Embrace and Hoarfrost will until SOs start to come into play. Does this sound like a decent idea?

I don't plan on taking Tough. Without innate resistance to build on, I don't see it providing enough benefit to justify the costs. Again, does this sound reasonable?

Regarding AVs: they shouldn't hit me often, but I worry about being two or three shotted by a lucky streak. I'm hoping Chilling Embrace and the kinetic attacks should stack enough -damage for that to not be a problem. I'm fuzzy on -damage, but I'm pretty sure it cannot be resisted by anything. Am I correct on that? Of course, there's also Hoarfrost.

Speaking of that, is the combination of Hoarfrost and -damage likely to be enough to hold my own against enemies heavy on fire and psi damage?
I'll have to disagree with you here Dechs. Okay, yes, Ice Armor has no form of S/L Resist, HOWEVER, you tack CE's -DMG effect, with KM's -DMG effect, then add in Tough, and smashing/lethal damage enemies will be doing even less damage to you.

That sounds like great stacking to me.

All powers listed above slotted for maxium regen/recovery in enhancement value + set bonuses. Then throwing a bunch of +hp, +regen and +rec bonuses elsewhere as well as getting all of the passive accolades. After that, go for massive recharge.

The question is... it sounds more fun on paper then it would be to play. Oh and it sounds like it would cost 5 billion influence...
Having had a DB/WP Scrapper with QR/Stamina/PP all slotted with a +END Proc and the Miracle and Numina Procs...I can tell you now...it's just as fun in game as it looks on paper.
  3. Another one I thought about today...Dual Fire Swords for Fire Sword Circle! Use a slower Typhoons Edge animation (as Typhoons edge is a little faster than FSC).

A surprising number of my cadre and I are soloing the GR content, we don't want to "poop in each other's cheerios".

I don't feel epic. I know, I'm not "50". I made a Warmace/Electric Armor Brute. And for a time he did pretty well, but now, close to 13, the GR content is starting to wipe the floor with him.

I don't personally believe there is a dichotomy between solo and team play. If I am a Bad-*** solo, but still considerate, and tactical with my team, there is not reason I can't Rock out even more when I have backup.

So... What Archetypes and builds do -you- feel are the most Bad-***? What powers and abilities and tactics REALLY cement this for you? In those trees are there things that could be skipped and others that are MUSTS?

I would love feedback; I want to feel "Heroic".

Additionally, what builds are best for taking on many enemies at once (Wide Cones or AOEs?), doing lots of damage, but still -mitigating- the damage as well.
Don't know how exactly you're playing, or what difficulty your set at...however...you're still low level. That's going to be a factor.

I'm doing fine running solo with my KM/WP Stalker (teamed a few times, but mostly solo as I want to take the time read the mission text, and actually go the way the toon would go with the choices).

While I've had to do some hit and runs (ghouls and a few EBs), I've only been defeated a few times, since I always pack inspirations.

For bad-*** feel, I'd suggest picking a melee AT, then level up! Melee ATs start feeling that way once you get levels, the right power picks and then some IOs!

PS on paper, seems like a VERY poor power, thats what Im saying.. and hands down, I am comparing the entire sets with each other, and I see no reason to pick KM over SS as SS still have Rage, and basically the same powers as KM just named differently (To be rough when saying so)

Next time you reply to someone, be sure to read the post, and dont be a dick just to be a dick, it brings bad karma
    PS = LOTS of DPS.

You need to look at the set as a whole when comparing them. KM will out DPS, SS. If you're looking for big huge numbers for DPS, then get CS, as it's the big hitter of the set.
  6. Not yet. My first one was my main turned into a KM/WP Stalker...as I can't have DP/WP As an option yet, I think I'll like KM as a mix of time manipulation melee.

The other is a KM/NIN that I wanted as a Primal hero.

My next toon made in Praetoria will either be my main's praetorian counterpart or just a praetorian.

The issue is that doing so takes a power pick and power slot(s), which could be better used putting a Regenerative Tissue unique in, Luck of the Gambler 7.5% Recharge, or any number of goodies. Covering up that KB hole gives less room to improve the build.
Now see, that arguement just fails imo.

I don't want this hole in defenses, because I'd rather fix these other spots in my build.

Well yeah. I'd like to beable to grab Phase Shift without the ability to turn others invisible, can we fix that too (and I mean without a temp power)...sometimes tier power pool powers just don't make sense to me :/ Phase...not turn invisible! Like Shadowcat! Who doesn't turn invisibile! Grrr...

Well last I recall, Quickstrike was needed for KM's best DPS. If that's still the case, and I was going purely for the numbers...

I'd lose Focused Burst, pickup Quickstrike, do what I could to obtain the best DPS chain, then work on added defense to stack with Shadow Meld's down time.

Yeah, but with Quick Strike, Body Blow, Smashing Blow, and Concentrate Strike...all much better attacks to use.

I was tentatively thinking /SD for +damage stacking and a big AoE to throw out when I've got PS maxed out for insane damage. I've got very little experience with /SD builds though, is it feasible to softcap a KM/SD while still getting permaHasten levels of recharge? /FA would go well too, but it's a little squishy for my tastes and I've already got a SS/FA Brute.

    Ideas/recommendations/scorn?
    Shield just seems to overdone.

As I pointed out (I think correctly) in the KM/FA thread, Dark Blast looks to be better all around than Focused Burst...and Shadow Meld is likely to help out a lot of sets, not to mention KM's -DMG effect...so my thought...

    KM/DA!

Soul goes great concept wise with Soul Mastery. KM lowers the incoming damage, as well as Shadow Meld! So less use of Dark Regeneration.

Death Shroud and Burst have the same radius.

Wow...the more I think about it, the more I want to roll a KM/DA myself, but I already have 2 KM Stalkers! Grrrrr!

    Hmmm...is this PvE exclusively?

According to MiDS, Dark Blast, does better damage, has a longer range, faster recharge, faster animation and a lower end cost than Focused Burst.

Since you're going to take Dark Blast, why not free up a power pick and drop Focused Burst (outside of concept of course...this is purely thinking the build is all about the numbers).

    Why roll a stalker again?

Ninjitsu (til they port it to scrappers).

Actually, that's what I was envisioning for Battleship. An ID4 type movie, except on water. Seeing as how ID4 was mindless fun for me, if Battleship can live up to that, all is good.

  16. I'm picturing all the worlds navy (which really really means what, USA, China and Russia? ) going after an invading force of naval aliens!

If they stick to that, with good action, to me it's basically them using the game's name to help hype the movie, nothing more. And may just be a fun summer movie.

No non-sensical powerset combinations. I'm not an RPer, and while some of my chracters have a background, many don't, yet their powersets have to make sense together. No matter how fun a, say, Fire/Psi dominator might look, I can't see any reason for the character to have both fire and mental powers (beyond something generic like "they had two mutations!"), so I won't play them. Power customisation has definately helped me here, but there's still some that I won't play.

No repeated powersets within an AT. Same drill as usual.

Log off at day job locations.

There's a few mispellings I use occasionally like "y" for "i" or "k" for "c", but in general, I agree with this. Numbers (unless theres a story reason for it, eg a Mark 2 robot), double letters or even worse punctuation marks (though hyphens can be OK) are horrible. And don't even get me started on xxDARKLORDxx...

(Though I did try to have a double-letter mispelling once. I wanted to create a character who was a clone of one of my mains, albiet with some different abilities, and doubling the "n" in her name seemed a good idea. Except it was taken. Which is odd, as my characters name is not something I made up and I certainly have the correct spelling of it )
Telekinesis and Pyrokinesis (Mind/Fire Dom) seems perfectly exceptable as both are psionic abilities. And I'm pretty sure there have been characters with the trifecta of Telepathy, Telekinesis and Pyrokinesis of psionic ability. My first thought of it goes to Legion (from X-Men).

It's basically multiple mental powers versus one all encompassing mental power (like there's quite a few telepathic telekinetics).

    Now go roll that Mind/Fire!

[edit: If debuff threat multiplication doesn't stack, then they were even in that regard.]

The taunt on Shield Charge is inconsequential - Against All Odds has a longer duration, so that's the one that would be used in the equation. BrandX's Taunt duration should be in the 77-81 second range. (That's 4.5 to 4.8 times the threat multiplication.) Not only that, but Scrappers have a lower threat mod than Tankers too.

I've seen Shield Scrappers steal aggro from Tankers all the time, but it's usually ones who a) don't have Taunt b) aren't using it enough or c) don't have it slotted well enough. This is the first case I've heard of someone using a very well slotted Taunt, dealing damage (even if at Ice Melee standards), and failing to hold aggro.

BrandX, out of curiosity, whats Taunt's recharge in your build?

    4.96 seconds - 5.16 seconds...so roughly 5 seconds.

No one else was stripping aggro away from Romi. What just suprised me about it was that it was happening. I was under the impression that Ice Tankers were the one tanker who could rely on CE to keep aggro off everyone.

And something I remember, was the scrapper being off in the distance, taking on a Cyclops, being surrounded myself, I clicked on the Cyclopes and taunted it multiple times, and it still stuck on the Scrapper.

It was 6 slotted with level 25 or 33 Mocking Beratement (i'd have to go back to see what level I used for it). If they were all level 25, that puts it at 86.2% Taunt enhancement. If all level 33, it would of been at 94%.

CE is just slotted with an ENDRED. While Icicles is slotted for damage (3 Cleaving Blows, 3 Eradications...basically for the E/N Defense).

OH! I was also throwing in Frozen Aura every now and again, because it's well AWESOME! But still, yeah, the basically keeping aggro. No idea if they had confront though, but then, I pulled Romi to the grass, and was taunting first, so I would think that wouldn't matter.

Perhaps it was just the out damaging of me. I don't have GIS in my build.
  24. I found my Corlax on my Corr, lasts longer than my Dark Servant on my Defender.

That said, I haven't found them terrible so far, but not really needed either. But I blame that on their lack of control. Unless I'm up against one target, they're just not attacking who I want them to.
