I am working on a build for my new scrapper. I want to focus on +recharge and + damage. No purples at this time.

I slotted Boxing, thinking it might be nice to have, but I do not think it's vital. The APP does not need to be Soul, I am unsure where I want to go in the higher levels APP wise.

Mid's has an update today? Nice!

(kin/fire with high recharge is my current plan for starting a new toon with GR, also... although i change my mind daily)

I gotta make pain. I gotta make things right. I gotta stop what's comin'. 'Least I gotta try.

If you could free up one more enhancement slot, I'd swap Kick for boxing. Six slots of Kinetic Crash will get you a bigger recharge bonus, KB protection, some smashing res and a bit of regeneration. It's probably cheaper than the Crushing Impact as well. Just a thought, as I'm not much of a build guy, but I've got two of the KC sets on my MA/Fire who's built for recharge. Great set.

They ALL float down here. When you're down here with us, you'll float too!

I've been trying to decide between a KM/FA and MA/FA for the GR launch tomorrow, and I've made a build for each. This build here has more recharge, damage, accuracy, and a little more regen than yours, but with 116% end instead of 121%, .1% less end recovery and 1.5% less health. I feel like the barely noticeable drop in health and with consume covering most end issues now, the damage and recharge increase is worth it. With the longer animation times, you should be able to keep a constant chain of body blow, smashing blow, focused burst, and dark blast. I skipped the cone attack, as I've never been a fan of knockback moves on scrappers. I also grabbed SJ as opposed to temp protection, because I like travel powers. I noticed you didn't have one in your build, so you could just swap the two to make it more like yours.

On top of the improved damage, recharge, and a solid attack chain, I also have it set up so that there is enough passive positional defense so that you're defense capped when you hit shadow meld. My game plan is to pop it before I jump into a fight to help take the alpha and allow me to do more damage. Shadow Meld will be up every fight, twice if the fight takes a little longer than expected.

Also note that hasten isn't turned on by default in the build.

Pretty sure it does, yeah. And since the new FE adds bonus fire dmg rather than a dmg bonus %, PS enhances that even more, meaning /FA chars should get more out of PS than everyone else.

PS+FE+Burn

just doesn't sound right

Follow it up with Burst pbaoe (with bonus fire dmg!) to knock some of them down inside the patch as well. I imagine it will be a very potent offensive combination.

Hmmm...is this PvE exclusively?

According to MiDS, Dark Blast, does better damage, has a longer range, faster recharge, faster animation and a lower end cost than Focused Burst.

Since you're going to take Dark Blast, why not free up a power pick and drop Focused Burst (outside of concept of course...this is purely thinking the build is all about the numbers).

I believe the stacking damage buff from power siphon only comes from kinetic melee attacks. So you're going to want as many of those as you can so you can get a nice stack going quickly.

Yeah, but with Quick Strike, Body Blow, Smashing Blow, and Concentrate Strike...all much better attacks to use.

That is a good point, I dont have Quick Strike in my build. I would miss some of the set bonuses from decimation being slotted in Focused Burst. I wonder what would make the biggest impact...

Focused Burst is really not a very good attack. It's less dpa then quick strike. I guess the range could be useful, and it will take a ranged set, so that can be nice, but as some said, the epic ranged attacks are usually better.

On my Kat/Fire, FE + BU + Caltrops + Burn + Lotus Drops has always been good, and the new version has not displeased me in the least so far. I look forward to PS+FE+(some single target attacks)+Burst+Burn.

Well last I recall, Quickstrike was needed for KM's best DPS. If that's still the case, and I was going purely for the numbers...

I'd lose Focused Burst, pickup Quickstrike, do what I could to obtain the best DPS chain, then work on added defense to stack with Shadow Meld's down time.

Those are some all around good things to know BrandX, thanks for the tips. I actually went MA/FA for my new /FA toon. I'm still going to make a KM/WP scrapper sometime soon here, and I'll probably take this knowledge of KM with me. I've never taken a epic pool or, obviously, a patron pool on my scrapper. Do those powers, like dark blast, crit for scrappers?
