Quote:Scrappers have their Single Targeted Oriented sets. And Scrappers have their built for tough ST enemies, and thus lack any AOE.That fails to do anything for MA or EM - the two sets most in need of AE help. It's kind of like the people suggesting auto crit on area attacks - it makes little sense to "fix" the AT by improving the power sets that are already the strongest.
MA's AOE really isn't all that.
When you invite a MA Scrapper to the team, you aren't really inviting them for the WOW factor of AOE carnage.
Same with Energy Melee and Dark Melee users.
Unless you just mean, "at least those sets have an AOE"
Well sure, but I wouldn't really say they offer all that much.
But you do have a point. And it's another reason I think the best suggestion is increased damage mod. It's universal, it upgrades all sets equally.
-Regen is cool, like the AOE debuff from AS. It's nice, but not all together worthwhile later in the game (at least in my experience). -
Quote:Oh, I don't see the idea of giving -Regen to AS as a bad thing mind you.1. I can see why HP Cap is a concern. I've never really tried to reach the cap. Good point there.
2. I truly believe having some -regen in AS is going to help Stalkers in SF or regular AV fights. My intention for suggesting -regen is never just for soloing AV. I don't really consider soloing AV part of the real "game balance". Yes, troller, defender, MM and corr have access to -regen but not every set has one. And even if the team already has -regen, it doesn't mean adding Stalker's -regen is "not helping". It just means MORE -regen to help take down "real hard" target(s) faster.
I am not against having more damage for Stalker. The -regen is just one of the buffs I would like to see. I think Stalker's team buff needs to be better (either no radius or even higher critical % since you are never going to have everybody within 30').
3. If I were Castle, and I could only choose between giving Stalker more HP or giving Stalker more damage/-regen, I would pick more damage and -regen. We already have 3 other melee that survives better.
4. I also want to add that even with the team critical buff, I hardly see anyone asking for Stalker for team. This means unless the dev completely overhaul Stalker's design by giving more AoE (which I don't think it's going to happen), most of the buff ideas we have are not going to change others' opinion of Stalker.
In fact, most people don't even know Stalker has team critical buff and aoe fear from AS. Can Castle do something that is going to "wow" the other population? Who knows. I think whatever buffs we may get, it's only going to satisfy the hardcore Stalker fans.
My thought isn't about AV soloing. My thought comes to the fact, that I'd say for most players, I'd say the -regen isn't really a factor.
So many people who just fight EBs, where -regen is less needed, and I've never fought an EB personally, that I thought "we could use some -regen", now fighting some GMs and AVs I've thought this.
Even with AVs in TFs. Just seems to be a limited use for a majority of the player base.
Yeah, I do lots of TFs, and love trying to solo AVs, but the majority of the player base? I don't think it would be a factor.
Not to mention it's not always easy to get off an AS in an AV fight, or the middle of fighting period
One of the reasons I like the idea of just increasing the damage mod. It works for all periods of play, no matter what you're doing.
Also, with an increased damage mod, maybe, just maybe, my lvl 50 Stalker, can BU + AS to one shot that level 40 (or was it 41) Fake Nemesis Boss. -
First off, any changes in PvP should be in all aspects of PvP.
The idea sounds good, except what would be the point?
The toon would only have access to the special members only PvP zone. Boring. And thusly seems like a waste of time. -
I don't see the origin booster being anything different than the Super Boosters, other than the lack of a temp power.
They were costume packs, with a few extras.
Origin Booster is just strictly costume options (and Capes and Auras are costume options).
The power was only in the Super Boosters, because the first one had one, so all got one.
valkyrie Pack only got one because it came with the Mac Edition.
15 costumes pieces, not to bad at all. -
Well, I think some of it comes down to CoH limits.
Wolverine has those claws, but has the option to brawl it out.
CoH's brawl option doesn't give the same option as found in Comics. You're just not going to take criminals with the brawl power.
Those with pistols can easily say they're skilled enough to make called shots to areas that are hard to target in RL, but in a comicbook world, they're skilled enough to make them on the fly.
Rubber bullets works too.
I'd consider the Punisher to fall into line with the Vigilante alignment.
Vigilante alignment in CoH, doesn't fall inline with being a vigilante in the comicbook universes of Marvel/DC.
Spider-Man would fall in line with Hero alignment, but going by his actions, he wouldn't be the type to register either which labels him as a vigilante (but not the alignment). -
Quote:He's not a failure at it.Well, he's tried to kill lots of heroes - it's kind of his main hobby - it's just that he's a bit of a failure, that's all

Heroes just medi-port out before he can kill them.
*Recluse goes for killing blow*
*Hero medi-ports out*
*Recluse seethes with anger* We'll meet again! -
Quote:Well, you know what they say, "One person's terrorist, is another person's freedom fighter."This is very true. For all hints and purposes, Longbow can be perceived as a terrorist organization.
Also, Longbow are registered heroes, just like player characters. One has to figure that law only works in the US, and when outside of the US, they're acting on their own accord.
Seeing as hiow the US and the Rogue Isle's don't likey have any real treaty of sorts, if the Longbow are caught in the RI's, they're under RI laws, with the US not having much to do with it.
The same can be said of the Archnos who invade Paragon.
And from what I gathered, Archnos attacked/invaded Paragon (thusly the US) before Longbow ever setup shop.
Or do you think the Archnos's invasion of the Zig and release of known criminals isn't an act against the US?
Longbow get caught in RI, the US can simply disavow them easily enough. Or say they're rogue and thusly not under their control. Lord Recluse can also do they same with any Arachnos caught.
Point being, it's a comic book setting, with a backstory not fully set, that I wouldn't put RL rules into it so much.
Blue Steel became a police officer at 18. And to my knowledge, no place in the US in RL allows 18 year olds to become a police officer (outside of military police), with the age needing to be 21.
So obviosuly laws in CoH world are vastly different from RL laws, and making in correlation between the two becomes a work of frustration really. -
Quote:First thing first, you're obviously putting in RL world laws and such, when in CoH verse would obviously be different than RL world laws.He was talking about the Primal Earth Miss Liberty. Who is a scum-sucking pile of garbage who throws away the lives of promising individuals by the hundred every hour or so.
That's not even including the fact that she equips her troops with Flamethrowers and releases them into heavily populated areas with a lot of flammable debris lying around.
Shall we go into the fact that she's running a private army into a sovereign nation recognized and protected by the UN to try and depose the current ruler, regardless of the legitimacy of his rule..?
It's amazing the Nukes haven't already started flying between the US and the Etoille, all things considered. She's literally invading another country without governmental consent or backing. Intra-governmental treaties don't even exist for the world of hurt she's inviting on herself in a legal sense.
True proof that Steven Richter is a comicbook villain rather than a real person: Miss liberty hasn't been arrested and/or killed.
-Rachel-
There's also already inconsistencies from what the game lore says to how it happens in RL.
And she doesn't throw away lives. Those who join Longbow, volunteer, and know what they're getting into. Not to mention, if it was as many lives as people like to say it is, there would not only be a population problem about now, but there likely wouldn't be any Longbow either. -
Hmmm...didn't even pay attention to the xp gains (or lack there of) when I did this mission with my brute.
However, I did get a temp power of grenades, but I didn't find it to be that useful, but maybe if I had let more gather when I used them. -
Quote:It's not so much the low hit points that's the problem. I mean really, defense goes a long way in making low health cap not to much of a problem.Funny I hate losing aggro on my Stalker like that if I team with squishies. I even try not to use Placate that much because I want the aggro to stay on me if I can handle it. :P
Am I the only one who is not bothered by our less HP? I really don't think I attract that much aggro to being with. I mean we have less AoE and we have Hide and Placate already to lose aggro.
The problems with it comes down to...
1) The health cap is easily reached...
WP can easily reach the cap with HPT and Accolades, making all +HP set bonuses a waste.
Regen can easily reach the cap with Accolades + set bonuses, making Dull Pain just another heal on a long recharge. Not to mention, lower hit points equals weaker Regen rate.
2) The resist based sets, don't get as much out of the hit points either.
Now mind you, this is all with set bonuses in mind. Messing around with MIDS, it wasn't to hard to get a /SR Stalker to the Health Cap.
And if I remember the build correctly, it reached a little over 1700 HP.
My WP build reaches just a bit over 1800, and could get even higher if I tried to get it higher, but there's no point. WP reaches over the (current) HP cap with just HPT and the accolades.
That's the only reason I suggest raising it to 1800. WP would still likely hit the cap no problem, the others might get close, but not as likely to hit the cap (though likely still possbile if really pushed for it.), giving /Regen a bit more bang out of Dull Pain as would Energy Aura's Overload.
The other secondaries will get more use out of their set bonuses.
If it wasn't done, it wouldn't be a big deal to me personally.
I like the idea of -Regen attached to Assassin Strike, but I'd only see that useful for the big targets (EB's, AVs, GMs, Monsters).
Which might have Stalkers looking more appealing on teams that plan to face them, but not nearly as needed, as that tends to be a limited engagemnt for most of the game, not to mention you have Corrs, Defenders, Trollers, MM's usually to bring it as well.
Now, as someone who likes to build to solo AVs, you'd think I'd be all for it. But really, the increase in damage mod imo, would bring more to the team for regular missions (taking out enemies through more DPS, either through better ST DPS or increased damage on the few AOEs available), and thusly help on the tougher targets just as much (though admittedly, not as much as the -regen would likely help).
I also know, when I have stalkers on the team, I don't think of their AOE fear from their AS. I think of them only as more damage. The fear and -tohit, just isn't that useful, and to make it useful, I think it might put to much control for AS (ie...it'd need to be so little chance of failing, it might be over done).
Mind you, all this is just my opinion. And whatever tweaks Castle comes up with I'm sure I'd personally be fine with.
My thought however, is that Stalkers are looked at and wanted for team DPS without needing some to look after as much. Right now, Brutes and Scrappers do that well enough, that some people over look Stalkers. -
I say make Council be the one thing the game is missing, though it states it when you choose it.
Turn the Coucil into the saviors of humanity, wiping out all mutants!
Have them aggro on anyone with a mutant origin like a cat on catnip.
That level one see's a level 50, it attacks that level 50!
Doing a mission, that tech tanker better work really hard to protect that mutant defender.
Doing a mission and the tanker is a mutant? Aggro management just got a lot easier.
Have Council on the streets with picket signs, saying "Mutants Suck!" "Mutant are Inhuman" ect...ect...
Then throw in some civilians walking the street who stop and cheer on the Council, possibly joining in.
Have those same civilians throw tomatoes (recolored snowball) at mutant heroes saying "Mutants go home!"
Let's get some of the anti-mutant sentiment that it says is there in the description of mutants, into the game!
Council would be perfect for it! -
I want something that isn't so tied to the storyline, that you don't have a bit of leeway with it.

Quote:Done it. Succeeded everytime!*I sometimes get scoffed at for saying I've run failed ITFs. I play Masterminds, even in team content. Take two Masterminds on the ITF and see if you still scoff. The summoner Nictus at the end seems designed specifically to punish teams for having Masterminds.
That said, I've still failed ITFs .5-1% of them.
The most MM's I've had on one ITF was 4, and it was a success. Some of it I find comes down to telling the MM's (and I did this when on my MM), to put away the pets.
Sometimes you don't have to, sometimes you do. -
Enjoyed the first, I expect the second to be just as good
-
Well, if took on the name Indiana Jones, I'd see it differently. That said, while I saw the idea of Mutt Williams going off and being like Indy, I didn't see anything that would suggest he'd go by the name Indiana Jones.
-
I don't even get a bio-organic tech, look from it. I get a glass look from it.
-
If I thought it looked good by the trailers, then yes.
Would I consider it Indiana Jones? No.
They could just as easily call it, "Mutt Williams and the [blank] of the [blank]"
If it's called Indiana Jones, it should have Indiana Jones. -
Meh. Looks busy, but I wouldn't say it looks terrible to the point of ruining the movie.
I also think the movie will likely add to it. That's the prop, I expect to see some CGI over it as well. -
Quote:With 90% of that 50million coming from 3D showings.- "Jackass 3D," the third installment in a feature series about a crew of thrill junkies, crushed forecasts by selling an estimated $50 million worth of tickets during its first three days of release across the United States and Canada, distributor Paramount Pictures said.
- The actual result ranks as the best opening since the Leonardo DiCaprio thriller "Inception" kicked off with $63 million three months ago.
- The previous two films also opened at No. 1: the first one to $23 million in October 2002, and the sequel to $29 million in September 2006. They finished with $64 million and $73 million, respectively. Paramount and MTV are units of Viacom Inc.
- Opening at a distant No. 2 was "Red," a Bruce Willis action drama based on a DC Comic book. It earned $22.5 million, in line with expectations.
http://movies.yahoo.com/news/movies....ime-reuters?nc
Take the 3D glasses out of the equation, it'd probably still beat RED. And really, I have no idea why.
It's like seeing a reality TV show being the #1 show. I just don't see the appeal. -
I actually like Steampunkette's idea of mirror slots.
Admittedly this comes from someone who wants to actually be able to play in all three modes at once, and that means, when in human form, I can slotted attacks and slotted defenses.
Even with frakenslotting, I haven't found this to be easy.
Would it give the Kheldian's a set bonus edge? Well yeah, but I wouldn't call it a major one. Really, unless they start slotting some of the worst sets for trivial set bonuses, that even when stacked up with others, don't amount to much, they're going to run into some repeated set bonuses.
Could be wrong, but this is me thinking on a few toons where I would have to go back on some slotting, or I'd have more than 5 of the same HP increase.
And not everyone would IO out the HEAT anyways, they'd juse slot the human form powers and the form powers.
Now all that said...
I LOVE Tidbit Jr's idea to have the human form toggles suppress (this means effects AND end use), when in the different forms, without actually detoggling.
And this might go along way in making a HEAT more enjoyable. Maybe even enough not to want the mirror slot idea.
Also, I think alot of people's hate for HEATs comes from knockback hate.
And I think if the mirror slot suggestion happened, we might see more tri forms. I know lately, I've seen more human form only, than anything (this isn't to say the tri forms arent out there...or even to say they aren't more prevalent...I just havent teamed with them lately) -
Quote:1) EBs were put in, so people could solo AV content sotry arcs, without needing a team. And really, with the right inspirations, I don't really find them to terrible to solo.So, my questions to you are;
1. Do you favour the idea of being able to solo EBs/AVs/GMs, if so/not, why?
2. Have you ever soloed an EB/AV/GM, and if so how did you feel afterward?
3. Do you think the dynamic will change after the implementation of the Incarnate system?
4. Whatever else you wish to add.
AVs...yes, if built for it, with the time put into the toon, yes I do. To me, getting a toon up to the AV soloing part is what makes the toon feel like they're of the less of heroes like Rogue, Spider-Man, Batman, Psylock...ect...ect. The heroes who can hold their own in a solo cimic title.
It's also where a lot of the signature characters are suppossed to be power wise.
GMs...hey if you can do it. \o/ Whoot! I haven't made a toon that could do it yet (well, that's going the no temp power, no inspiration route...never tried it with temp powers/inspirations). I also don't worry about soloing them.
Soloing AVs is where I try to get my current toon I'm playing. GMs, I'm prefectly fine going "Well, this is going to be tough, going to need some backup"
But that's just me.
2) Pretty much answered above. EB = yes. AV = yes. GM = No. How'd I feel afterwards? I was all whoot! YAY! \o/
To me it's not the "I beat the game" it's "I have a real superhero!"
That point aside, it's not going to be for everyone, for a lot of combos that can do it, it's a drawn out, boring affair, make no lies about it.
3) For the current level 50 content, possibly, for the new high end content? Probably not. -

Quote:I think the MM players were just smart enough to buy the recipes blueside themselves, then waited it outMy guess is too many people thought they would make inf when the markets merged by buying up lots of special PET IOs when they were blueside cheap, and selling them after merge. Crafted enhancements are easier to store (1 item over 5 salavage + recipe, and can be stored in a SG base).
Ruining the plan of marketeers thinking they could sell off the pet recipes to make lots of money.

You know...on a AR/MM blaster I made once, all I did was knockback mobs. I used the ranged AOE with KB a lot.
No one complained.
Use some Energy Blast, and it's complaints.

Quote:heh...I didn't take it as people getting riled up and flustered.Goodness, some people really get flustered and riled at the notion of popularity. I say embrace your inner mean girl.
My list. Yes, it's subjective, sentimental and incomplete, but it still rocks.
DragonBerry, Ascendant, Rakescar, Cackle, Night Girl, Jumproot, Heroid, Kelp Plankton, Sidney B, Plasma Steam, Invincibelle, Soaring Valor (and her uppity sidekick), Xad (though I cringe to admit it), Thanatos, Bayani, Paladin, Capt. Starfall, Roxstar, Celtic Bolt, Backyard Boom, Captain Valor, Ms. Independence, Rowr, Inertial, Encharger, Massacre Melanie, The Imperial, Poison, White Geisha.
- Sparrowhawk, who needs a new sig and avatar.
I think it comes down to some of the names not being known, so they don't see them as being Icons.
Superman is known by all inthe DC verse, he's an Icon.
Just out of that list of names you gave, I'd say I maybe heard of two of them. And while I see Ascendant posted a lot in this thread, never heard them myself. :/
Though, I can see people having their own list of who they think are iconic easily enough.
