Defend TPN from Destroyer Horde - or how I killed an hour.

Recently made the mistake of trying a Stalker. I was getting used to the average of 3 deaths per mission, but then I hit the Defend TPN from Destroyer Horde mission. Wow, I never died, but it took me over an hour to complete. With running from one end of zone to other back and forth to try to heal and using the Blackwand veteran power over and over, I finally got it done.

There was a mention of a bag of grenades, but it doesn't give you a temp power.

My suggestion: auto-complete this mission if you have the option available.

That was a pretty intense mission for my stalker but I'm not sure it's any worse than the others. But then my average death per mission is less than one and there are some missions I don't know how a non-stalker would do them.

But I'm putting my kinetic stalker on the back burner until after issue 19. The endurance issues are (literally) killing me.

My beef with that mission is there is no xp for killing anything. Not 1 xp earned for killing over a hundred enemies. There is no point to doing the mission. Just auto-complete it.

I have to ask what your secondary is that's causing so much trouble.

I have two stalkers which run without stamina. One is EA, so he doesn't count, but the other is Ninja Blade/Dark Armor.

The temp power has a short duration and is frankly sorta crap.

My solution: Take mission, then go do other stuff for a bit, then come back. I did it on kin/nin, and the key is that the destroyers are pretty much pure melee -- so I did the whole thing standing on caltrops. Also, I had burst, and I was two levels above them (I had a level 15 mission, I was 17).

... Actually, maybe I didn't have burst. But I had trops, and I had the level advantage.

Admittedly I did this as a Brute but I found the mission fun. I liked how the set up was different and it was unlike any mission I had seen before.

Yeah, caltrops turns this into a cakewalk just about. Same thing for the Crazy 88 ambush. I did it with an MA/Nin stalker.

this is my biggest beef with that mish

although from looking at the states of the weakened destroyers they had much much less hp and than normal and as states only have brawl as an attack, but some xp would be better than no xp

the temp they give you i actually found quite useful if you buffed up with a few red insp beforehand, 1 toss could usually kill a whole gathering of them and then the DoT would kill another mob worth

I don't doubt they were weaker than normal destroyers. And I agree a little xp is better than no xp. Otherwise, if there is no xp inside the mission, why do the mission?

Hmmm... should I auto complete the mission for the reward, or...
should I waste a half hour of my play time and maybe rack up some debt... and then get the reward?

Did not intend to start a discussion on stamina here. Just ignore me. I didn't mean to go off-topic.

Did this mission on a Kin/DA stalker and while it was kind of fun once, it is not an experience I'm looking forward to repeating. Actually managed not to die, mostly by doing laps around the building and kiting mobs with the occasional hidden attack and the nem staff.

The part that I found particularly amusing was the notion that I was being filmed the whole time in order to make me out to be a powerful foe - meanwhile I'm running around the building screaming like a little girl . Good times.

Honestly, just take the mission, gain a level or so, and come back for it -- it's fun that way.

Only done it on my Kin/EA Brute so far. That was tough. Going to try it on my nin/nin stalker next.

I haven't done this with a stalker yet. I did it with a DP/nrg blaster. I stood on a ledge of one of the buildings and hit them with hail of bullets when they tried to jump up to me. They couldn't reach me but my bullets could reach them. I can imangine somebody doing this over and over by resetting the mission. Thus the no XP/inf.

Hmmm...didn't even pay attention to the xp gains (or lack there of) when I did this mission with my brute.

However, I did get a temp power of grenades, but I didn't find it to be that useful, but maybe if I had let more gather when I used them.
