You're right, in all those examples they kill.

Now...remember this is primarily a superhero MMO, based on playing a comic book universe superhero/villain.

It even used to say it on the main page of the site. Now it says World's Most Popular Superpowered MMO.

You say stop thinking about just Batman and Superman, so lets go thinking of those other superheroes...

Frank Castle. Wanted vigilante for MURDERING criminals.

Spawn. Had two detectives looking for him.

Heroes who go killing every villain they meet, tend to be wanted crimianls

And nothing I've seen in CoH says any hero goes around killing EVERY villain they meet, and really there are plenty of people who RP it that they do.

If people want to do that, it's fine. I just wouldn't RP with them. Not because I think it's wrong, but because...

    1) Like I said, I really don't think the CoH universe even works that way

    2) My hero could never stop them. They could be level 1 and my hero could be level 50, and it would never be stopped.

Mind you, and I've also said it before, CoH really isnt setup for long term RP

Do you really think Arachnos is just breaking out Destined Ones 24/7? That the Zig wouldn't be shut down by now?

That Nuclear Power Plant, you think in any longterm RP, that it's being attacked 24/7?

For your list of examples, I'd say there's a big difference between them and the CoH universe. Seeing as how the CoH universe is suppossedly a comic book superhero universe (for paragon), I don't imagine high body counts amongst the heroes.

Finding some good AE arcs, is probably what you're looking for.

    Now this I agree with.

Let people spend their rewards when they want.

Who's trying to rewrite them? People on the forums? Or people in game?

If it's the forums. Well duh, you're basically debating between RP styles.

If it's in game. RP with others?

Fact is, heroes who kill, the Frank Castles, in the comic book universe GO TO JAIL. Or aren't as openly known (which quite frankly doesn't go with the CoH storyline), and get away with it that way.

And those type of heroes don't tend to (notice I said DON'T TEND...that means it's not an absolute...lets get that out of the way now) team with the heroes who would take them in.

Though RPing that in CoH is just silly

There's also those who do the realism factor. Do you really think even with superpowers, people as a whole would go "Yeah, killing is great. Kill everyone." I say this, knowing you've mentioned you want realism, yourself.

Sure there would be a few of course, but as a whole, society tends to frown upon mass killing

    Even of criminals.

Because those who say to use logic, that a Flame thrower has to kill, don't want to use logic, that the psychopathic killing hero, wouldn't be stopped by the non killing heroes, as a badge doesnt give one the right to outright kill people.

And killing someone with a battleaxe, because they shot a gun at you, when you're invulnerable and can just stand there and take it, means really, you were in no danger, they posed no threat.

Basically it's a logic arguement that can't win on either side, because the devs will never implement open world PvP, and also not likely to put in a "kill them all" button "kill them when they start to beable to kill me" button, or a "never kill" button, to effect your morality.

Well then, with that thought, everyones killing everyone.

Fact is...those flamethrowers ARE NOT LETHAL as the ones they're using them on, can take it.

And nothing in this game has shown the ones they use it on, can't take it.

Or go that route...then every Fire using hero is a killer as well. You can't have it both ways. One fire user doesnt kill, while the other does. They both burn, they both have the same effect.

CoH lore...is just...truthfully...terrible. It really can't be helped though, seeing as how it's an MMO. No offense to the writers who write some excellent arcs, but you really can't do full lore in this type of situation and have it all work and cover the masses.

As for Manticore. The Wyvern aren't operating in the US. What exactly is she going to do?

Also, those who keep complaining about Longbow. Enough. People moan about Longbow going into the Isles, but seem to easily forget, Arachnos going into the US.

If you were to complain about anything about the Longbow, it should be the story arcs, where they make the Longbow (just another registered SG basically) have any sort of authority over the heroes of the city.
  7. Would my future Stormies beable to turn off and ont he Rain?

    Make it cloudy?

    Make it sunny?

Things a Storm Summoner should be able to do, ala Storm?

Not likely. So, no not really thinking it's all that great of a reason to put it in.

And the immersion arguement fails, when you see "I AM HEALER" "Undearwear Man" "31i73 DuD3" "Sexy Ready to Go" and other such heroes running around.

I find it hard to believe that no weather effects breaks immersion more than names like those.

    Why not? They've been hits.

You don't want another one. But then, you're likely not their target audience.
  9. They elude to the pregnancy. Tonks says they have news as she puts her hand over her stomach, before being cut off.

I had wish they made mention of Dudley no longer hating Harry. But that's a small detail I guess. :/

They did the traveling scene well.

Them not showing or mentioning Harry and Ginny breaking up, did throw of my mom, who asked why Ron was upset, when he knows Harry's dating Ginny.

Figure that could just as easily be explained as the necklace driving him bonkers.

Over all, I thought they did a great job with it and can't wait for Part 2.

Truthfully, I don't think it would be used as much as you think.

50 Merits + 20million Influence is A LOT to most players.

I also don't see the ones who claim to make millions upon millions quickly to use it much either. As it would still require the use of Merits.

I got the one PvP IO I was looking to get for my main, took longer than the shortest time possible, but really it's one IO, and patience isn't a bad thing.

Same rule applies. Dont click it on, so the window doesn't show it, look down in the corner, see what the number is, add it in.

Much like Hide, Stealth suppressed is going to give roughly 2-3% Defense, it's easy math still.
  13. BrandX

    First 50?

Come up with a concept for your character that you like, that helped a lot on my first 50, then team with a steady group of friends, that also help a lot with my first 50.

I went through a lot of different characters, untill my Claws/Regen hit 50.
  14. My Dark/Sonic Defender wouldnt have been able to attack nonstop, and remain flying while using Flight.

Oh yes, I make good use of Hover. Usually on range toons.

My DB/WP Scrapper had Hover, and I used it. Hover is better for melee fighting than Fly in my experience.

    Hide and Mids

You could just turn off Hide. Mouse over, see how much defense it says it grants in the corner Power Descriptor, and then add then add that to the final defense numbers.

Seeing as how that's usually around 2-3% Defense, it's not hard math.

Wrong on DA. It really doesn't need defense slotting. It's good right out of the box, and better to just slot it for damage, like any other attack, so you don't lose any more damage from using it.

22% Defense from Ninja Reflexes, 2% Defense from Hide, 3% Defense from a Steadfast Protection = 27% Defense right there, add on DA which is easy to keep double stacked but for this will just say one application, is another 15% for 42% Defense (3% shy of softcapped Melee Defense).

Seeing as how you throw in a few defense set bonuses, you don't need to slot it for Defense at all.

Considering it's easy enough to get 30% Defense out of it without Defense slotting. Why even waste a Defense IO on it, when a Damage Proc or freeing the slot for somewhere else, would be better.

GC's as has been explained, is better for DPS. But that also assumes one can pull off the GC - SD - GC - GD - Repeat chain. It's not easy. So taking SotW may not be a bad idea.

But GC is the better attack (PvE wise anyways).

Agreed on Flashing Steel. If you can fit it in, I'd say take it for the additional AOE.

    8. Shortly after that the next Winter Event.

I'll take a year like this last one over a 2xp weekend anytime.
Well, we did have a double XP weekend this year.

When Dual Pistols became available to pre-orders, Double XP weekend started like 2 or 3 days later.

Drain Psyche, 2 Melee Attack powers, Psychic Shockwave, and World of Confusion.

With nine powers in the set and five of them can only be used in MELEE, and the idea that Blaster secondaries are meant to keep blasters out of melee range, and then saying Mental Manipulation is what the Devs currently think a Blaster Secondary should do...I see a bit of contradiction here.

    So, please explain to me.

Do they not want my /MM Blaster getting into a group and using Drain Psyche?

Do they not want my /MM Blaster getting into melee to make best use of Psychic Shockwave?

Do they not want my /MM Blaster getting into melee to use WoC...ummm...hmmm...well it is a suckie power over all...maybe the question should be...do they want me to take this power at all.

5 out of 9 powers require you to be in melee. So make up your mind when you say such things, because you're contradicting yourself.

Think of it this way: At best the only thing that 2 days of 2x XP could do for ANYONE (whether they are exploiting some kind of AE trick or not) is allow them to do in 2 days what ANYONE could normally do in 4 days. Sure it's cheesy that anyone could be taking advantage of an AE exploit regardless. But if those people are doing that anyway what would it really matter if they get to do it "faster" for 2 days? Why should everyone get screwed out of the chance for a Double XP weekend just to "indirectly punish" a few people exploiting the game?
AE didn't get double XP, on double XP weekends.

I think the point was more, people are getting way more XP with AE, than they would with double XP.

And yes, you could get in 4 days what you could get in 2 days, but during double xp weekends, at least from what I notice, there are even MORE teams going on, which are more heavily looking for others to join their teams.
  21. With /WP, use IO sets! Grab Tough/Weave.

I love my Kin/WP Stalker personally. Only thing that could make it better, really, is alternate animations (I'd love some kick animations) and a Dual Pistol Epic

Well, and a higher damage mod
  22. If it's level 50 and I'm not playing it, it's not getting respeced

If I'm actually playing the character, it'll likely take advantage of it, as I always seem to want a few other powers to fill out concepts.

I've taken an attack and left it with one slot, just because I thought the concept needed the power. So no matter what, something will fit in.
  23. War walls would be gone.

Read a comic, not many heroes take the tram when in costume

Left game play mechanics out of the story. Enhancement shops, AH, AT Names, Power Proliferation...all things that could of been put in game without being involved with the story.

AT and Power set design would be altered to actually allow one to make a more comic book inspired character.

If that was truely unable to happen...get rid of weapon redraw, then make it so one could grab a tier 1 between the sets.

No reason a Blaster shouldn't beable to throw both blasts of Fire and Blasts of Ice (or any combination).

Reworked the mez protections. Fire Armor could likely get out of a lot of holds, but why a psi based hold? Laugh at Fire, melt the ice, burn the vines, cry and weep at the telekinetic.

i13 PvP would of never happened.

Cared less about people making the uber combination. It already happens now. You see it on the boards "Oh I have this concept that fits a Brute, but if Kinetic Melee is better for Scrappers, I'll just roll the scrapper."
  24. Would anyone even make use of it, without a fix put into place?

Heh...really, you don't really need to. Slot one, look at the numbers, then slot another, look at the numbers, then decide which one you like best.
